  • Kaizen DIY Gym and I went head to head in a build off! We each built our own versions of the Havak Adjustable Triads! I've constructed mine out of wood, Rogue Fitness parts, 1 inch bolts, and various thick grips!

    Thanks for watching!! I had such a good time throughout this entire build process!! I really enjoyed getting to know Kaizen a bit better as well as all of our smack talk!! lol. Obviously my build isn't something most can/will replicate exactly due to I just happened to have parts on hand that many people probably don't (and I wouldn't at all recommend going out and purchasing just for this build!! lol). I simply wanted to build a pair of these in my style with what resources I personally had available to me! I hope you enjoyed the video! Remember to go watch Kaizen's next and vote for your favorite over on Instagram!!

    Great job Matt! I had such a good time "competing" against you. You pushed me to get creative and be a better woodworker. No matter who gets more votes, I think we're both winners. (jumping hi-five with a freeze frame at the top)

    Very cool man, I like both of your builds. Yours would probably feel a bit more solid IMO but I like how Kaizen built in the triple sized handles, and most people dont have 6 spare steel handles lying around haha. If you have 1" plates i probably prefer your loading posts (i have both 1" and 2" plates.
    Your materials are harder to procure but his requires more specialized bits and likely a drill press. Don't think I can pick a winner really depends on the equipment someone has to build it and their plate inventory.

      Thank you! Yeah, I would NEVER suggest anyone actually replicate mine EXACTLY AS SHOWN for obvious reasons, lol. I would have utilized piping for the grips, but I couldn't pass on taking advantage of these handles I already had....they were just too perfect not to!! lol. Thanks for watching!

    Those handles come from the articulating pull up from rogue? Do you like that thing? Was thinking about one. Thanks.

    I dig it, but what would the total cost be for your completed build vs Kaizen DIY? I think his would be much more budget friendly

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol ....you don't wanna know!!! 😬. Total cost to me wasn't much as I already had most everything on hand. If I were building from scratch and DIDN'T have the handles, I would have used pipe instead (still somewhat expensive, but would be so much more reasonably priced). Out the door the cost breakdown would have been $30ish in pipe, $25-30ish in hardware, little bit of plywood, and the cost of whatever grips you decide to add which would put me somewhere around the $100-150 mark (definitely more expensive than Kaizen's)

    seems like the handles may rotate under load. why not replace the round nuts with hex ones and cut a hex recess so they stay in place

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They actually don't rotate due to the thread patterns being the same (or opposite of each other when bolted in)... basically if you try and rotate the handle it'll attempt to loosen on one side but tightens on the other (preventing any movement). They were designed this way to prevent rotation when used for their actual intended purpose (as pull-up handles). IDEALLY, I would have also used lock washers on this build, but I wanted as much bolt length as possible on both sides.

  • @MrCasco67
    @MrCasco67 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    question, where did you get the rotating pullup handles? are they Rouge?
    Thanks!

    • @MattPendergraph
      @MattPendergraph  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are Rogue...however, they're only a small part of the rotating pull-up bar you can purchase from them 😬 (not sure they would even sell them separately if asked!).
