I just love a band when it is raw, and not so produced. That was ACDC in the Bon Scott era. Brian Johnson is great, but there is something about that raw 70s rock sound of Bon Scott.
Incredible, when you compare for example Dream Theater vs ACDC there is no comparison about music tecnique, but i would always pick ACDC to see live without a doubt (specially If it was with Bon), thats the beauty about music
Bon Scott not only has a unique voice but the way he crafts his lyrics filled with inuendo with threads of sarcastic humor. I always felt you feel his swag and a smirk in his delivery over the radio. I like Brian Johnson but I feel lyrically and the swag does not match up with to level Bon.
Other singers can sing rock n' roll, Bon Scott WAS rock n' roll. He was the personification of rock and what rock stood for. Too bad he passed on too soon. RIP BON!!!!
I saw AC/DC live back in 1979 when Bon Scott was still alive, and I never heard of them before but they played with so much energy, I became a huge fan and always had fun playing their music after that.

Bon Scott was such a cocky, confident presence, and it was awesome, specially with such a talented and energetic band behind him. I had a chance to see them play at Convention Gall in Asbury Park NJ during the Highway to Hell tour and sadly, I passed it up because I wasn’t familiar with the band when my friend asked me if I wanted to go. He was really into the Police and new wave bands at that time, so I just figured AC-DC was more of the same. I’m still kicking myself for that ridiculously poor decision!!
I've seen ACDC 17 times. 15 times with Bon Scott. he had so much charisma. you really should look into more of AC/DC's music the bon Scott era. in my opinion they were so much better with Bon Scott.

I met and partied with them at an old club called the agora in Columbus Ohio. in 1977. partied with them again in Cleveland 1979 world series of Rock. Bon Scott loved to party, loved to drink, he was a super cool guy and very approachable. I went to more than 230 concerts in the 70s and saw many of the big rock bands multiple times.
This is without a doubt one of the most rocking AC/DC songs ever and I'm fortunate that I still have my copy of this on vinyl. This is a great choice and I hope you both had a very happy Easter

As a Generation X Aussie, I was brought up listening to this band. I love them. This is live raw Australian Rock. Bon never opened his mouth, that's why nobody could understand him!!!! lol

The energy that AC/DC had with Bon can't be matched. One thing that I feel people under appreciate, has to be how good Malcolm Young was. Angus, in interviews, has also said that Malcolm is the better guitar player. R.I.P to one of the best rhythm players in rock and roll history!

Bon was pure rock and roll. To me, loving rock is about it being loud, great riffs and not worried about understanding all the words. Its about the sound of the voice, like another instrument making the song great and the enjoyment great. #ToolArmy
Bon, more than most, was honest. He lived the life he sang about, and died the way he lived. And Jailbreak’74 is an amazing EP. Angus was using hammer-ons then. That wouldn’t be popularized until Van Halen 8-9 years later! Obviously, Eddie took a different approach to it, but Angus was a monster.
So many great things about this reaction. And yeah, it's one of those bands like Led Zeppelin and others or everybody in it it's just so interesting and good at what they do and they function together like pistons in an engine. You would have absolutely loved being at one of those early live shows. They had the audience in the palm of their hand but there was always a sense of humor with it and then they were just rocking so hard and we all felt like we were in it together, everybody's sweating their asses off from the audience moving around and yelling to the band on the stage.

One of my favorites from that era although there were so many, is from the Highway to Hell album and it's short and really punchy and a lot of fun. It just blazes, it's called, Beating around the Bush. It was pure heaven when I learned how to play that really catchy Angus Young guitar riff.

You know that band from Australia AC DC? They are opening up and I guarantee you it will blow your mind. And it totally did! I just can't say enough about it. Then Bon Scott died and ironically, they came back through a couple years later once they had reformed on the Back in Black tour, and now Cheap Trick was opening for them!
You Understand the Influence that Bon Scott in Particular had on Hard rock/Metal music when Steve Tyler says he is a fan and inducts them into the hall of fame and when Megadeth visited Bons home town of Fremantle they took the time to visit his grave.
Bon Scott AC/DC is the archetype of what a pure rock band should look, sound, and feel like in your guts. There are so many great rock bands, and many I prefer to listen too more and more often, but if "rock & roll" needed a pic for the dictionary entry, it should be of Bon Scott's AC/DC.
It always stood out to me that the song does not have a happy ending. It's such an upbeat song, you expect the hero to get away, but it reminds us that liberty has consequences.

It's not possible to replace a talent like Bon Scott and create the same music... it had to be different. The chemistry had changed, and Brian Johnson is not Bon Scott (like u said)... Listen to any Led Zeppelin record... then listen to Plant & Page album 'Walking into Clarksdale' - without John Bonham & John Paul Jones? It's not Zeppelin. It does not sound or feel like Zeppelin. It's your opinion which era of AC/DC u prefer... that's your perspective. But more people have bought Brian Johnson's AC/DC records than Bon Scott's. The Brian Johnson era was very different from the early records... and u can tell from 'Highway to hell', AC/DC could not make that record again after Scott's death. So, "Back in black" went in a different direction, different vocalist... it just happened to be THAT record that resonated w/ the most people.
Brian Johnson is not getting the love he deserves. It's like being asked to follow Elvis or just shut it down. I like both. And Brian Johnson showed up and showed out too.
With that much energy and style, how can you not prefer Bon Scott to Brian Johnson. Sorry Brian, your good, but Bon is The Best! You don't need to understand the words, you can feel the feeling.
I want to add… Do yourselves a favor and watch the ‘Jailbreak’ live at Donington 1991. No reaction needed, just watch it for yourselves to get a great representation of a live AC/DC show. All are at their peaks here, and Angus absolutely KILLS it!
Brad, what Angus has is RHYTHM. And, you're right, he feels that rhythm in every fibre of his being. It is something you need to open yourself up to, as part of this journey of musical discovery you are on. I don't mean to criticise at all, I just think it's another new thing you need to employ with songs, don't be so focused on what the lyrics are and what they mean. Step that down a level or two and let the whole song just flow into you. Musical rhythm is genuinely the oldest form of human emotional expression, it's built into all of us genetically. Stop over thinking it bud and you will get so much more out of it. 😀🤘😀

You would understand the lyrics better in the studio version, though this version is also great.

It's your opinion which era of AC/DC u prefer... that's your perspective. But more people have bought Brian Johnson's AC/DC records than Bon Scott's. The Brian Johnson era was very different from the early records... and u can tell from 'Highway to hell', AC/DC could not make that record again after Scott's death. So, "Back in black" went in a different direction, different vocalist... it just happened to be THAT record that resonated w/ the most people.

Brad, what Angus has is RHYTHM. And, you're right, he feels that rhythm in every fibre of his being. It is something you need to open yourself up to, as part of this journey of musical discovery you are on. I don't mean to criticise at all, I just think it's another new thing you need to employ with songs, don't be so focused on what the lyrics are and what they mean. Step that down a level or two and let the whole song just flow into you. Musical rhythm is genuinely the oldest form of human emotional expression, it's built into all of us genetically. Stop over thinking it bud and you will get so much more out of it. 😀🤘😀
