I’ve got a question on preconditioning. I’m driving to my destination and I have supercharger stops identified along the way. I show preconditioning occurring during the trip, but then it stops preconditioning. When I get to a supercharger I’m only at 27 kW. On other stops I don’t have a problem, but this has now happened twice. The supercharger is identified as the destination.
Do you recommend that I should precondition my car before I charge every night at home? Also does that hurt the battery or the power conversion system board?
You don't have to precondition your car before charging it at home. It's more for heating up or cooling down your car in the morning before you drive. Tesla will also automatically precondition the battery if you're navigating to a supercharger.
When using a scheduled precondition in the winter, is there a way to tell it to auto defrost my car and heat the seats etc? Or does the auto setting in the climate menu auto detect it is winter and auto defrost?
QUESTION: How do I get my 24model 3 to resume cruise control once I've hit the brake to disengage it? Do I have to keep setting the speed every time? I've had the car only a little over a month.
If you have some free time, in this video I go over cruise control, autopilot, and fsd if you're interested to learn more: th-cam.com/video/gq58Ay9lFWQ/w-d-xo.html
When I schedule precondition in the app for the morning, I walk out and I’m nearly 15-20% less than I left it last night. ~20 F degree weather & not charging at home. Is this normal?
Would like to see how to schedule departure charging so it finishes just before leaving home. I have tried it before and it always starts charging immediately and finishes hours before I leave.
I watched this as there are a couple of 3rd party chargers near me that aren't listed on the navigation screen. Every time I go and plug in it complains that the battery wasn't preheated and so there will be less optimal charging. Any idea how I tell it to do this either on route or when I arrive.
Just set up the precondition at home and once its done drive over to the charger. For example if its 4pm and you want to charge at 5pm, set up the preconditioning time for 5pm, once its done drive to the charger
You didn't say when you just go into climate and turn it on if that ALSO preconditions the battery. You said the BMS will take care of it. In the winter I find myself putting a supercharger in the navigation just to precondition the battery for optimal performance. Is that totally unnecessary and, if so, why does it stay on for as long I have that location in my navigation? It seems like it should go off once optimal temperature is achieved. Thanks for the tips.
As far as I'm aware, for fast charging it's better to have the battery heated up but just for normal driving it doesn't need to get that warm for optimal efficient performance. When you're driving the battery management system will get you to where you need to be for best efficiency. But if you'd like to precondition the car before driving in the winter I recommend scheduling it cuz it'll set the climate in the car and heat up the battery before you get going.
@@FelixTheCat69 Yea that’s what I’m saying. What if I have an unplanned trip I need to make? I’d like to precondition BEFORE I leave 30 min ahead of time. I don’t think turning on the heat is the same as conditioning the battery.
Lets say you have the car plugged in at home, finished charging so its not charging at all. Then you want to preheat the cabin which you can do in the app, will this also precondition the battery? Most importingly will this use the wallcharger energy and not the battery it self? If not then is scheduling a good thing even for like 30 min before you go? Or is "navigating" with the app to a supercharger but not actually driving, going to use the wallcharger energy instead of battery it self. Thats the whole idea with precondition if you have the car plugged in and not to draw energy from the battery but rather from the wallcharger
my precondition turns on the ac at 7 am when its 55f putside, creates alot of fog on the windows. cant figure out how to make it a temp i want like 72. in the app i can set it to 72 and hit the of button but the car will be set to auto and be running ac in the morning
I would love to use only Tesla chargers but they don’t exist in many areas yet. Tesla should add a way to preheat the battery when going to third party chargers.
There are a couple third party accessories that allow you to precondition on demand - Teslogic and S3XY buttons (or wheel). They’re each a couple hundred dollars, but also provide additional functionality and insight into vehicle data that you can’t normally see. Maybe something to consider.
My Tesla screen is cracked, and it has a mind of its own (basically unusable), so I can’t navigate to a super charger. Does keeping the climate control on while driving basically preheat the battery ?
You seem to be addressing cabin temperature not any “battery pre conditioning.” The “pre” means anticipation to something. In Tesla EVs it’s any supercharging. Hearing the cabin does not heat up the battery.

Does precondition start at 8am or earlier so it's ready by 8am?
Very well explained you got a new subscriber. I just picked up a cyber truck. Thank you. A lot of these work with that also.
Awesome! Hope you love it 🙏

I would like to schedule the heated driver seat currently using the app to do this before I go to the car

Yeah you'd have to turn it back on and adjust to the speed that you want to go with the scroll wheel.

@@teslahowto good to know. I used scheduling daily when I was working. I no longer have a schedule is why I needed immediate preconditioning. Thanks
