Since they completly abandoned Keep option, he doesn’t exist. Veilguard pretty much is based on BioWare’s made up „canon” that is used when you don’t transfer your choices. It’s pretty much a default version of history. So HoF who was an Daelish female is dead, Alistair is a king married to Anora, Hawke who is a male mage sided with mages and killed Anders, Carver was a Templar, Inquisitor - a human rogue - swore to defeat Solas, Cassandra becomes the Divine, Hawke dies in the Fade, Morrigan drinks from the Well if Sorrows - you know, the list goes on. Also none of romances are included so all 3 leads are singles. Once, when I started Inquisition, I didn’t had Internet so I couldn’t connect to the Keep, imagine my surprise when I met Alistair as a king married to Anora or learned that my Warden was dead, Morrigan had no romantic memories about him and Kiernan was erased from existance 😂 It all felt so out of place for me that I stopped playing and waited till Internet would finally be fixed.
I loved DA:O, Inquisition, and even DA2. I loved the books and all the downloadable content. This game felt like it should have been the climax to the overall storyline, but it looks so disappointing ... after playing BG3 (a masterpiece), maybe I have unrealistic expectations for RPGs? No, that's not it. Bioware needs to pay their actors and writers more money.
You don't have unrealistic expectations. BG3 reminded you of a former setting of the quality bar, and now you see how many games fail to even try to reach towards it. Not the fault of all the developers and designers, management will always shoulder more responsibility for choices. But from AAA studios, and even AA studios, we've gone too long without seeing such potential be reached.
The biggest factors for Veilguard being this way are its multiple cancellations and reboots dictated by the corporate BioWare suits, and the firing or resignation of literally ALL of the writers who had been with the series since Origins. That’s why it kinda feels disjointed and maybe a little clunky. The people who created Thedas are no longer custodians of the world they helped create. It’s sorta like the Halo franchise after Bungie passed the baton to 343. The removal of player choice influencing the narrative is so very disappointing. I had been hoping to find out how successful Loghain had been at redeeming the tarnished honor of the Gray Wardens after the debacle at Adamant. Now that entire potential story is just gone. Veilguard makes me sad a little. But the absolute insane negativity surrounding it right now is ridiculous. There are people who have never played the game shitting all over it and trashing the game for story points and decisions that aren’t actually in the game. They’ve turned rumor and speculation into gospel truth and are attacking Veilguard for not being what they were told it would be by some other fool that confused their head canon and what the actual story is.
I, on the other hand, didn't like BG3 either, well I did love some of it. Granted, it's not a bad game, but to call it '3' and not allow me to have my states from the previous 2 sucks, and though I'm a big fan of romance subplots, there is way too much horny in the game for a regular day of playing RPGs. Some of the jokes are lacklustre, but I don't want to internally vomit, and the inclusion of Fanservice was unnecessary. (Probably an unpopular opinion, I know). It is leagues better than... whatever Bioware calls this. (Do they think it's a success?) But it had few bugs and felt finished, big points there for BG3. I just want them to finish companion stories now, need to get my Tiefling Teddy a new ticker.
Honestly, I was hoping that in the battle at Weisshaupt Hawke, Stroud, Alistair or even Loghain (whoever you chose) would burst out of a fade rift or something into our world and fight with us.
What's wrong in that? She is very recognisable, like a mix of morrigan and flemeth styles. Not bad at all. It's not like you keep same clothes and style everyday for 10-15 years?
@@TheAns51 Are you kidding? This is not the Morrigan from the OG Dragon Age. First her voice is too monotonous, not the sassy sarcastic witch which is what made Morrigan iconic. As for the outfit it looks okay but they could have done better, its mid. Morrigans outfit and body has been nerfed 2x now, first in inquisition and severely here in veilguard. Lastly is she looks nothing like the Morrigan from Origins and Inquisition, she looks like Alcibiades from Assassin Creed here in Veilguard.
this ticks me off, Flemeth appears next to morrigan's bed and tells her that she has to agree to let Flemeth do some magic shit to her? and morrigan says YES? did they never play origins? Morrigan would at best tell her to kick rocks, and at worst blast her with magic. how DARE they ruin both of my first romance options from origins AND DA2.
The REASON Morrigan chose to accept Mythal was the regret so heard in Flemeth’s voice. It was quite literally stated by Morrigan in the video. Combined with the interaction between Morrigan, Flemeth, and Kieran in the Fade during Inquisition, and the entire thing is logical and has deep roots. We all knew this was coming since Origins. Also, Morrigan was NEVER against gaining more power. What held her back from wanting to be Mythal’s vessel was the fear of losing herself. This was ALSO stated in the video. Mythal has been greatly weakened and wounded by Solas. She no longer has the power to actually manipulate or interact with the world. All that is left of her at this point is her memory, her knowledge. She is no longer a threat to Morrigan’s free will and lacks the power to influence her. This was ALSO said by Morrigan in the video. For fucks sake, you had to have not actually watched this scene or played Veilguard because the point you are trying to make is just… I don’t know… you sound like a senile old fool who can’t get any of the facts straight and still wants to complain anyway. Please explain how Morrigan’s character was ruined when this is the path she has been on since day one? Shit, in every game she pops up tinkering with Elven magic and artifacts, repairing Eluvians, raising her child in the crossroads and other various secure corners of the eluvian network. In Inquisition, she would kill Abelas before he could destroy the Well of Sorrows because she wanted the power for herself. NOTHING she has done in Veilguard is out of character for her. If you took a couple of seconds to catch your breath and use your brain, you’d see how all the pieces fit together. The negativity swirling around Veilguard right now is ridiculous. People are MAKING UP or misremembering so much just so they can bash Veilguard. I’m willing to bet that at least half the people complaining and having a temper tantrum over some plot point haven’t even played the damn game.
@@mattphoenix4702Why would Morrigan give a shit about Flemeth’s regret? Flemeth who was such an abusive piece of shit that a demon in the fade was kinder to Morrigan than Flemeth. Morrigan’s entire arc has been about rebuking her mother’s wishes, so how the fuck is this the ‘natural conclusion’ to her character? Making her do a complete 180 and become what Flemeth wanted exactly? This game completely erased and makes Morrigan’s entire plot from Origins and Inquisition. And what for? What does Morrigan becoming Mythal actually contribute to the plot? So we can ‘redeem’ Solas? They sacrificed Morrigan’s character for Solas’ bullshit? Morrigan who learned in Inquisition to be wary of chasing after magic and power with the Well of sorrows yet she risks taking in the spirit of a vengeful old god? Especially when you add in her potential kid and husband? You know Kieran? Why would Morrigan risk her relationship with her son and husband for the husk of a potential dead god? Oh that’s right they don’t fucking exist as Morrigan acts like they never existed, apparently they don’t even factor into her decision at all, fuck Kieran apparently. @@mattphoenix4702 It' funny how you instanly jump to insults when you tell other people to calm down and think. Op didn't say that she would refuse power, but refuse power from Flemeth which is more specific than you make it out to be. She is looking for power, preserving/repairing not small part because she is afraid of Flemeth and "getting ready for what comes next". Flemeth makes fun of the idea of taking her over but also makes it clear that it has to be done willingly, doesn't explain further. Morrigan was still suspicious of Flemeth after their scene in inquisition and the night meeting would be the next encounter. I share op's displeasure at this depiction and explenation, because Morrigan held deep hatred/suspicion toward Flemeth even after learning that she housed Mythal.

Solas destroyed the world to build anew his elven empire. Many died, but with the help of Eluvians, they were able to save many more, all of whom travelled to worlds of their choosing. Morrigan lived happily after that, alongside her son, and husband (whom had found a cure for the taint.) The end.

@@kyleisrael1659 Haha same here!! The similarities in both of their respective lore and similarities in their looks is just too much to be ignored. And of course...Shartan is depicted to look EXACTLY like Solas did. They wear the exact same armor. If Flemeth wasn't Andraste then Andraste was definitely a one time vessel for Mythal.

Although I still have reservations concerning stylistical choices and lore simplifications done to Morrigan and game as a whole, I got really emotional having this conversation during my playthrough. "Here she is" I thought, "My Morrigan". Claudia Black at her finest!
I know the fandom had its problems with Inquisition, but I think it's actually underrated (even though that game was a proto-d.e.i project), the writing was decent, the stakes were high and the characters were written very well, and it felt very satisfying to see the characters from Origins showing up and seeing their growth. Inquisition had its problems, but at least it wasn't veilguard. Inquisition had good writing, veilguard felt like it was written people who hated Dragon Age.
Dragon Age has always had queer characters. That's not unique to Inquisition or Veilguard. What has changed is the writing quality. Both Inquisition and Veilguard's writing was significantly worse than both DA:O and even DA2.
So they basically disregarded all previous story choices leading up to this, changed her lore off screen and decided who cares what the fuck the fans think. Makes sense, it's as good a way to kill a franchise as any.
It’s crazy clowns really thought this game had any respect for the dragon age franchise.. I hope this game and BioWare fail… to teach a lesson to these companies that hold people’s favorite franchises hostage for political talking points
Is Rook voiced by AI? Its bad enough in a void, but hearing it opposite Claudia Black just makes it sound horrible. And screw who you had drink from the Well, because who needs choices mattering in a Dragon Age game, amirite?
@winspyy Oh, sorry, was that one of the three choices they let you import? Reply or don't, I don't care. Either way I will not be responding to you again. I've made my point. Keep wearing the clown shoes.
This game needs an entire remake. Not a remaster, i mean bottom up remake. Some ideas are decent, necromancy, addition of liches, and beyond. But its all so... unfinished, undercooked. Any good ideas have horrid executions and the bad ideas are on full display. Morrigan being controlled by Mythal is terrifying, it is EVERYTHING she worked against for the entirety of her character, this should be a tragedy, it should tear us down as we watch her lose herself to the progressing will of a literal god. Its a great chance to wrap up the ENTIRE series by bringing back the main character of DAO if they were connected to Morrigan and develop Mythal's story and give her so much more than what she got. Even hearing "Morrigan" Say such an uninspired main character nickname as "Rook" its just, insulting.
What happened to her appearance and voice? Jeez. Even her dialogue is different. In Origins she was a hot witch with a sexy voice, killer wit and humor. An awesome character who was interesting and likeable. Good enough to even have her own game. Now she looks like she writes poetry about the patriarchy, sounds like she smoked 20 a day for years and her use of words is nowhere near what it was. They butchered a lot of the recurring characters throughout the franchise but this is one of the worst.
It's this weird thing called time. People get old. The voice actor is the same but they're older. So yeah their voice ain't gonna sound the same. And the character is also older, but also has the memories and experiences of thousands of years.
@@RG32822 True, people do get older. But it's also a fantasy videogame where female characters don't have to look unpleasant for the sake of realism. But then again that's asking too much of the current state of EA and most of the AAA gaming industry to understand and appreciate this.
Um, these voices might actually be AI, they're so flat and toneless and even have the characteristic gravel and worble that a lot of AI voices have. If they arent, then these actors need some help.
They may have taken an example from High Guardian Spice, where the actors also have problems with flat and toneless dialogues, but even if the developers used AI, they managed to do enough work to make the voices sound like a human.
For real it's not god tier but it's certainly not bad by any means, I swear the hate for this game or the most minor thing in this game is truly disappointing, the hate hive mind is real.

So the whole dynamic between Morrigan and her scheming evil mother ruined. Now it is a bratty daughter not following her birthright because of a silly misunderstanding? Which her mother was too busy turning into a dragon and chackling to simply explain that the spirit wasn't her and didn't take her over, just a symbiosis. Way to both cheapen the first game and handwave inconsistencies.

@@mattphoenix4702
And there is the other side of the coin, many people report positively and have never played it.
(Do they think it's a success?)
But it had few bugs and felt finished, big points there for BG3. I just want them to finish companion stories now, need to get my Tiefling Teddy a new ticker.
This game is absolute trash, lowest of the low effort trolling. Inserting DEI agendas and pushing ideologies. It’s trash, catering to trash.
Look how they massacared my girl...
"Mythal clawed and crawled through the ages to me, and I will see her avenged! Alas, so long as the music plays, we dance"
Until new management starts its tyrannical reign anyhow.

That's the most "We have Morrigan at home." I have ever seen.
this ticks me off, Flemeth appears next to morrigan's bed and tells her that she has to agree to let Flemeth do some magic shit to her? and morrigan says YES? did they never play origins?
Why would Morrigan trust the wisp of Mythal? Why would she trust this wisp anymore than any regular demon exactly? BeCaUse She HeArd FLeMEtHs RegRet?
I mean ffs, Morrigan literally says she’s so impacted by Mythal, that she won’t fight Solas? This coming from the woman that asked the Warden to kill her own mom? Yeah that ain’t fucking Morrigan.
Games a joke, it’s trash.

@nanyafahkinbiznes1352 Look, HR sucks, but let's not pretend that it's not the writers themselves that want to write this slop. The cancer that these people represent has infested so many different levels of gaming.
I call BS. That's either Flemeth disguised as Morrigan or that Morrigan is somewhere else with Warden and Kieran living their lives far away.
Its so weird to see friendly morrigan. She usually just scowls at people like batman.
It makes you the one who never given A signal
She stopped being like that all the way back in Witch Hunt, some 20 years before this.
In inquisition she was pretty friendly even Lelianna comments on it
She wasn't like that with the warden or the Inquisitor, not sure why everyone has a problem with it now.... oh wait yes I do
This is why anything past DA Origins i don't even pay attention to. that was the best game and the only game in the series beautifully written. Basically, all the choices we made in DA Origins doesn't even matter in this game.
She behaves now like Wynne from DA:O, wtf
Huh, I kinda like the irony.
More like Flemeth since it's Flemeth somehow.
She is much older and wiser than that, it was years since origins. Even in Inquisition she wore that dress described by Leilana in Dragon Age Origins.
@@TokusaMarudzi I still liked her in Inqusition, where she was already portrayed as more serious and adult woman, but in veilguard, it seems like they get rid of her specific personality traits, such as mockery, sarcasm and high attitude. Where's the voice of the previous games? Where is Morrigan? Now the ONE thing she DID NOT want is the one thing we're bloody stuck with. Fuuuuuuuuck... the more I watch the less I want to play.
Edit: Save your money, seriously. Here's MY true ending, a sad one, but better than this shit. After Inquisition they tried their damndest to stop Solas, but as he was a god, they couldn't succeed. Solas destroyed the world to build anew his elven empire. Many died, but with the help of Eluvians, they were able to save many more, all of whom travelled to worlds of their choosing. Morrigan lived happily after that, alongside her son, and husband (whom had found a cure for the taint.) The end.
Is Morrigan saying "One fell in love with an Alamari barbarian" a hint that Flemeth is/was Andraste?
See I was hoping someone else would make this connection!!! That’s been one of my favorite dragon age theories, I will die on this hill that she’s referring to Andraste!
@@kyleisrael1659 Haha same here!! The similarities in both of their respective lore and similarities in their looks is just too much to be ignored. Andraste in art in everything after DA2 has her wearing the same exact crown that Flemeth wears that Morrigan is now wearing. The Maker/Spirit came to both Flemeth and Andraste deep in a forest. And of course...Shartan is depicted to look EXACTLY like Solas did. They wear the exact same armor. If Flemeth wasn't Andraste then Andraste was definitely a one time vessel for Mythal.
Go back to Morrigan talking about Flemeth and Osen. Being of a time where barbarians roamed about, the barbarian would be Osen.
I think they are, or Mythal was in Adrastes body at the time, honestly this would make the Maker Solas, he erected the veil and may have accidentally made man as a result
I thought the same until she said they lived in the swamps, so I actually think she is talking about Osen.
We need Hero of Ferelden gather the party and save Morrigan from Flemeth trying to take hold in her body

Her looks are meh, but they'd be 1000 times better if she still had her unique and deliciously alluring yellow eye colour.

Claiming that Morrigan's (who's been a part of the series since Origins) voice is AI should actually be a punishable crime.

most meme worthy game ever. i love it hahaha
The design changes don't bother me, but why the soft reboot? why get rid of all our choices from the previous games?
Becuase EA insisted they reboot the game twice to chase trends, sadly that means they lost brought 6 years of development time, this is what we get sadly, blame EA
