Been binge watching your videos! You made me want to play this game again do I just finished killing chaos with 4 monks. The early grind was a nightmare!
It makes me so happy watching someone else do this. The number of times both versions of Lich caused resets for me were staggering (worse than your kill counts). ToFR itself was sanity draining, with its only saving graces being you can retry right after a hard reset in the combat order, and you can eat a combat with Earths to save on further combat order manipulation to make all REs runnable (not hard, just more time consuming than eating the combat).
Congratulations on completing one of the hardest challenges! I'm surprised you didn't try SLOW or the Wizard staff on Kraken, those have relatively good chances to land and make the battle a lot easier, SLOW in particular. Also possibly interesting to know, if you go for Tiamat first, then the Bane sword has the same success rate on Kraken than it has on Tiamat.
@@benoitalain5833 I have actually killed kraken with the bane sword in some of my other challenges. I also hit kraken 1 with slow in my all spells cast challenge. This was an old challenge, if I ever do it again I'm sure I'll do things differently.

I just beat this game on retroarch because they have achievements on there. Make sure you have a black belt fighter and healer in party because you need to kill sertain bosses with a character.
You can only level up once per battle that gives xp, Astos fight gave him enough xp to go from level 2 to level 4, but he could only gain a single level to hit level 3 from that battle. Since the display is an unsigned 16-bit and the exp for next level is negative, the amount is displayed as 65536 - the amount past the level.
Are you sure that death status for characters 3&4 affects the run chance of characters 1&2? I thought it was only status effects like poison/stun that do.
You can play through the game not knowing where you are in the encounter table sure. I did one run where I did my best to forget that it existed and I didn't have a fun time. It was in my all chest run if you want to check that out.
You got some patience thats fer sure! I'm def not gunna be trying a run, but ff1 is one of my fav games. I like the nes version too, I tried the gba remake andb its a bit too easy. the new bosses are cool tho a few are no joke 20,000 health or so:)
Kary is one of the easiest fights in the game in a run like this, she may be "weak" to status but it still isn't a high chance of hitting her with those kind of spells. And in a challenge like this I don't have fast while fighting her because I'm low level.
It's not that I'm putting the fighter in slot 4, it's that I'm putting the black mage with the highest luck in slot 2. I use his high luck to run away from fights as fast as I can. If I have both fighters on the top, I won't be running away from battles very often and I'll be dead.
@@jsteen84 Yes luck. With 16 luck you have a 100% chance to flee. If I run around with 2 knights on top with 11 luck odds are I'll fail to flee from many battles and my mages will die. The low level challenge is all about playing your odds and getting favorable outcomes with minimum tools.

1 have 3 BB now become Master at level 45. The damage is insane. 1500 to 2200 with 8 to 10 hits.

a 14 point hit from the defense sword was the last kill hit on Chaos. That was spectacular!

At 1:05:43, the EXP for level 4 on Bill is 65399. That seems a little excessive; am I missing a bug?

Death does affect run chance, but it is the lowest amount possible. Dark and mute also affect it.

How long did doing all this take?
It took over 30 hours, but if I try it again I think I could do it in 15-20.

Did you know Phantom is undead?
Yes, I know that Phantom is undead...that is why I use Light Axes on him to cast Harm 2.
