That is the X factor that separates the field from world champs.

Oscar is a true champion and Charles got beaten by a very good driver. Russell is just fooling himself if he thinks Mercedes wants him as their number one driver, with all the help he been given by the team but he is not showing any signs of a good driver.
If it’s this close next season McLaren have a bit of a mess on their hands. Piastri and Lando trading points could open the way for a Max win again. Same with Lewis and Leclerc, will be interesting to see how they do with the same car. I have no idea who will come out on top there honestly. Leclerc is fast but I’d trust Hamilton more to bring in the points.
The tyre degradation problem would have been solved by TC. Drive hard with no worries to push and the TC won't allow you to go faster than the tyres let you, or have a low TC setting and drive the car hard and then just pit when the tyres are done, and keep going.
Russell trying to say that the tyres were the only change but he forgot to mention all the help he been given by the team. Oscar is a far better driver than Russell and he will get better while Russell is just not good enough.

mclaren had a large advantage in top speed without drs (+3kph) which made it hard for leclerc to accelerate and catch him out of t16 into the straight when piastri was behind leclerc, he just had issues with the grip/tires. basically the same problem leclerc had when he was behind piastri neither car was going to realistically catch the other in normal conditions, but piastri caught leclerc while leclerc's tires were in the wrong window which allowed for the pass

Instead, BOTH drivers showed that .8 of a sec was too far behind and that you had to be at a minimum .6 of a sec behind to even make the lead driver have to move to defend. There WAS NO speed advantage . F1 speedtrap times recorded Piastri at 319.8, with Leclerc 319.5 at the mid way point on the straight and at the Start/Finish it was 342.8(P) to Leclerc's 342.5 Yes to Piastri catching Leclerc in the 2nd stint before the Ferrari's tires had got to temp - which is what allowed him to divebomb and brake 24 metres AFTER Charles to pass.
That’s not true, Pirelli can make a tire that lasts an entire race. The tires are made according to F1 specifications. F1 said they want rapid tire degradation after a certain number of kilometers, and that’s what they get. Mercedes can't understand their car yet, it is not tyre related, it is team related.
2 stop races should be mandatory. 1 stops are boring af to watch. like first half of basically no action to not break the tyres, and the second half to just keep them alive till the end
@@hitmanbg it would be more about when and what tire to do. having 2 stops mean that you can push a lot more, change variations, etc. which makes for more racing bcuz conservation is not needed. i am not paying for F1 just to see one stop and conservation till the end. refueling is simply dangerous.
They should bring back different tyre manufacturers who will compete in making the best tyre possible (fast AND long lasting at the same time). This will enable drivers to stop managing all fucking race and instead go for quali laps, which is what this sport should be about: Athletes pushing their cars to the absolute limit.

Well i prefer F1 to return the refueling. If 2 stops are mandatory then strategy will be almost not existent.
