Bron has never once left me scratching my head, wondering what the fuqq just happened. The quality of MJs highlights are on a different level. To me, #s and rings don't matter at all. MJ is and was the most electrifying player on the planet.
I played the game when I was younger. I was not bad. I couldn't do what the pro's did, but at least I knew how they did it. Michael was a different story. To this day, I have no idea how Mike did what he did.

@@darrellhardy90 I believe you were much better than I was. To teach is a gift. I'm a 6'1" white guy with a 6'4" wingspan. I wasn't a great outside shooter, 16' and in, I was ok. MY tools were speed, quickness, and jumping. Also unrelenting defense.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having Lebron as your favorite player. There are people who have Curry, Kawhi, Giannis...etc as their favorite player too. The problem is, many people get emotional and believe that their favorite player has to be "THE GOAT." MJ is just at another level. People don't understand that MJ played ELITE at both sides of the court and he gave it his all every night. Let me repeat. BOTH SIDES at an elite level. Image the energy that takes.
MJ basically played 13 seasons, and 9 of those seasons he played all 82 games including his last season at age 40. The man didn't load manage. He played in dunk contests, in the Olympics, in Allstar games, and of course the playoffs and Finals. As great as Lebron is, immediately after he played his first 82 Game season, he suffered his first major injury the following season. Coincidence?

Spot on my dude. Curry, Bird, and Nash are my favorite players but MJ is unquestionably the GOAT. Virtually no black marks on his resume. Plus the eye test still favors Mike. My grandma lived in the boonies and doesnt have a TV, she still knows Michael Jordan.

Wilt averaged 50 for one season, which is still impressive. Jordan's career average however, is higher than Wilt's. Jordan has the highest career average in nba history. Also won the most scoring titles in nba history (10 of them.)

If you only want just one stat that separates Mike from LeBron as the GOAT, aside from anything else, is the fact that Mike lost only 1 playoff series from 91-98. That is straight up dominance and gives him the GOAT status by itself.

Michael Jordan always made it a point to say it's impossible to name him GOAT, he never played Wilt or Russell. He never ran the court against a young Big O and Kareem.
He said its impossible to define best ever, considering most of the 'best ever' argument guys didnt have a bunch of head to heads.
What separates Larry and Magic, was that they met up at the end 3 times. They decided who the best was, while staring at each other across the court.
To me, what created Jordan, was the era. When Jordan came into the NBA there were 2 of the all time dynasties in full stride, Lakers and Celtics, with a young up and coming Pistons team who was trying to figure out the Celtics.
What type of scenario did Jordan walk into? The 3 teams who were ahead of him as a kid, appeared in 16 Finals, and won 10 rings in a 12 year period.
He came up having to figure out 2 of the top teams ever built. Not even counting the out west monster of LA with whom he won his first ring against.
You have to have a historic team to beat historic teams. The Bulls became the beating boys of the 80s dynasties, the schooled children.
But what that era created was....Jordan and the Bulls. If you couldn't beat the 80s Celtics, or Bad Boy Pistons, you probably couldn't beat Chicago.
The era created a team and player who were almost impossible to beat in a 7 game series.
Nobody will ever have the killer instinct of Mike, because no one will ever come into a league already designed for a decade of dominance, REGARDLESS of what you can do.
To come out of that fire still fighting creates an unstoppable scenario.
The Bulls were the literal definition of they can't do shit, until we quit.
The team and players were designed by some of the toughest squads to ever touch an NBA floor.
Once they reached the pinnacle, nobody ever held the mountain like that.
Nobody has ever been beaten into greatness like that, by the quality of opponents Jordan was faced with.
The scenario created Jordan, you just can't re create that for a young guy.
Imagine having to face 3 dynasties, but then imagine facing that gauntlet every playoff appearance.
No one will match the ferocity, because they never got T rolled consistently by a mean Pistons team.
Situations are important too.
And the argument that the Bulls faced weak competition after the decline of the Pistons and Celtics is a non-argument. The Bulls were so dominant that they made the rest look bad by default, same as Detroit and Boston did in the 80's. Similar to the "Tyson faced weak opponents after the era of Ali, Foreman, Frazier, etc". Actually, Tyson was such a brutal force in the ring that his opponents seemed weak by comparison.

When I was growing up watching MJ, he seemed mythical even though you can watch his games in real time and highlights…he still didn’t seem real.

Grant and Rodman were top 5 rebounders and defenders. Pippen was a top distributor of the ball. Kukoc was the best foreign player at that time. Basketball is about putting together pieces. If there was an all time draft and I had the 2nd pick I'd pick Tim Duncan, assuming Jordan had been taken.
Tim has a lower usage than Kobe, more field goal percentage than Lebron. Tremendous defensive presence and rarely injured. Loyal as heck.
Doesn't need the perfect situation to win either or to get the job done.

The shooting percentage in context shows Jordan was CLEARLY a better jump shooter than Lebron, in fact, outside of 3 feet Lebron often shoots about 36%. I'm not going to go into all the reason why MJ is the GOAT like I did on the GOAT video a few weeks ago but I will say this. Its obvious Jordan is the greatest offensive machine ever, but defensively, people sleep on the fact Jordan was ELITE as a defender at the same time. He was a much better defender than Lebron.

Amazing.....Jordan fans suffer from a sort of mysticism for a player. Lebron produced better team results. Jordan produced better results for himself. Lebron carried a team with Moe Williams as his best player to 60+ wins multiple times. Jordan could not carry his team to a winning season without Pippen. But somehow you trust Jordan to get it done over Lebron. It is pure craziness.

Lebron carried the Cavs with Moe Williams as the best player to a 66-16 win record. That is why lebron's career WS/48 is much higher than Jordan's despite Jordan winning more rings.

I'm going to double dip in this thread. I'm from Dallas and I still occasionally wear my 2011 Championship hat. That run by the Mavs was insane as they knocked off 3 different super teams with only Dirk as a star. Jet Terry was ready for the challenge and he did exceptionally well, but he was a quick and talented ball player, not on Lebron's level but Jet was quite good. He and Dirk knocked off an OKC team with Harden, KD, and Westbrook, knocked off a Kobe Laker team that was looking for their 3rd championship in a row, and then knocked off the Lebron led Heat. It is an insane achievement.

In that series Kyrie Irving avg. 27.1 pts per game, Lebron avg. 29.7 Kyrie went 31/33 from the line for 93%. Lebron 31/43 for 72% Kyrie 18 turn overs, Lebron 31 turn overs. The stats goes on. Lebron wasn't the sole reason for their comeback. People need to rewatch that series and pay attention to how Kyrie was just as much as Lebron responsible for them winning that championship. Check the stat lines for that series

When you mentioned the MVP thing between Jordan and LeBron James. Jordan would have gotten the MVP nearly every season he played with the Chicago Bulls had the NBA not wanted to shake things up a little. In the same year that Karl Malone was the MVP Michael Jordan was the MVP of the NBA finals against Karl Malone and the jazz any end of the game by stealing it from Malon and draining the game winner. The year that Jordan knocked Barkley out of the NBA finals, Barkley got the league MVP but Jordan got the NBA finals MVP. There are a couple more I can’t remember but that’s two MVPs that clearly were not given to the right person if a man meets the MVP of the league in the finals dominates gets the MVP and the ring how is he not the MVP of the league and he did that multiple times. And I don’t get why they go so hard on Jordan against the pistons. Everyone hated the Pistons no matter where you were from because when you were watching they were such a dirty team that you didn’t want to see the superstars of the league getting serious injuries and not being able to see them play. They did it to everybody and especially to Michael Jordan. They were a very dirty team and they still needed 14 games to win those two titles in the Eastern conference.

Something I've been noticing after watching a number of Jordan highlight reels and individual game highlights lately, is just how insane Jordan's midrange post up game really was. I'm old, so I saw all these dudes play from about 1980 and on, but I've been seeing a lot of props for players with a strong fade away shot these days, but when you roll back the tape, none of them has a fade away like Jordan's. This dude would set players up in the 12-18ft range and then proceed to either get them all twisted up with their momentum going the wrong way, leaving him with a WIDE open path to the basket, or he would freeze them in place with a turn towards the basket but then faded away instead, leaving him with a WIDE open jumper. Sometimes, he wouldn't even bother backing them up, he would face them head on, poke a foot towards the basket, or even fake a drive, and then step back for a set shot. D had to respect his speed and quickness so much, that he was often WIDE open on those set shots too. Look at his mid range fade away over time, even when he was older and lost much of his quickness to age and injury, he was often wide open anyways. There are times when he is making this shot over PFs and centers coming out on him, and they STILL can't even affect his shot, let alone have a chance to block it. MJ is just straight up another level in so many ways.
Oh and young bloods say, "oh MJ couldn't shoot the 3, so he would just be another guard in today's league"... yeah, he didn't need to be the GOAT of 3s in his era, because the rules didn't necessarily favor that shot, and he was averaging 30+ every night without it. And when his team did need to hit 3s, more often than not, he got the buckets his team needed. If Jordan had played when the rules favored 3s and offensive players in general like today, you can bet the farm this dude would have honed his game to be great at 3s, and would be scoring even more.

MJ was a fuckin' artist, man. Bron is nice, and I see why young fans like him, but when MJ played, people in other countries/people who don't even fuck with basketball were just as glued to their TVs as anybody. you should check Michael Jordan regular season´s games, he is not flawless, he lost some games (no more than 3 in a row), but if you see regular season games of MJ you will notice the pattern and how different he was, sometimes he just toy with the other teams, he could score almost everytime he wanted and how he wanted to. The other player fear him because if he was that night on atack mode, he could embarrass you like no other player could. he made the other teams look like they were amateurs or playing other different sport. You could only see that level of greatness if you saw the season games. Them when you check every playoff run game by game, you´ll be stoned and mindblowed and you´ll never make this stupid Goat comparison again...
