    A bit late to the party but I have the same one and I find it much more convenient mounting it the other way around. That way the magnets are much higher up, the bag is flush up against the tank and I've had no issues running it without any straps, even at high speeds.

    I actually just picked up this item for my Honda Grom, which does not have a metal tank. I have not opened the package yet, but I thought it comes with straps; a shoulder strap for carrying it around, but also straps to secure it to your tank. I will open the pack tomorrow/Sunday to check.

      Hi there. It does come with straps that loop through the 4 d-rings around the bag. For me though I don't want it on the bike permanently. To attach with the straps on the cb500x you have to remove the plastic fairing. In the vid I did miss the straps out.

    It's a pretty good bag, maybe a little too small and the strapping system was very poorly thought out. Besides that though it's served me well.

    Can you not route the security strap over and under the Handlebar Clamp (Black with the Honda Logo and 4 Bolts) alternatively around your Sat Nav Bracket/Tube..... (Doesn't have to go around the Headstock) Hope that helps mate

    Hi, can the bag sit a bit further up the tank, might have the wrong impression but seems the front end of bag sits off the tank a bit...cheers from TheCampingBiker. I’ve also subbed mate👍🏻

      @andrewstewart106 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the sub, love your vids.
      No, it has to sit there or it starts to block the display. It looks weird but also feels right somehow. When filling up with fuel just lift a magnet and it stays out the way. It’s a great small bag. The magnets hold fine for day to day use, I just use a Velcro strap around the handle and attach it around the handlebar clamp for extra security.

    the real question is, after 3 years, does it scratches the tank? the bottom seams quite harsh.

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No the tank is fine, even after a couple of tumbles on the trail which caused the bag to slide and detach from the tank, no marks what so ever.

    Hi, I am enjoYing my CB500x. Thanks for this video. Got a query. What is the phone holder or GPS holder you got on your bike at 1.27 in the video. Am trying to find a gPs holder but couldn't find one for models earlier than 2016. Would appreciate your reply. Thanks . Robert

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert. The mount came with one of Givi's universal phone/satnav cases. The bar it's attached to in the video didn't really work and flopped around on bumps. I wanted the sat nav mounted centrally and securely, I use a car sat nav or Google maps on my phone. I researched quite a bit a couple of years ago and found that the best universal solution for both a phone or sat nav was Givi's smart mount kit. It's expensive but well worth it.
      th-cam.com/video/iuUwMi7LgBg/w-d-xo.html
      They have a few mounting kits for the bracket depending on the bike. Double check the one you need for your year of cb500x.

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're on a pre 2016 model then the mount and kit mentioned in the video are what's needed.

    Did you manage to find another way to mount the tank bag to avoid the buckle interfering when doing a full lock turn?
    Also, I'd recommend the windshield accessory bar for your phone/satnav - it prevents you from taking your eyes off the road and is more comfortable. You can get it for like £15-25 quid on eBay or Amazon (it's a generic part).

  • @kentuckyjustice1408

    I was hoping to see an example of how to use the 4 straps. They include 4 narrow straps (2 with loops, 2 without) with no attachment points other than the loops on the bag. There are no instructions or directions for options. It's like "here it is, figure it out." That's BS on the part of the manufacturer. If you have a plastic tank, or don't trust the magnets, you have some guess work ahead of you. I'm thinking that they're getting mine back for a refund.

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did have a look at the straps but ended up not using them due to no obvious place to attach and remove from the bike quickly. Ended up removing the loops from the bag too, whenever I was on a rough road they'd rattle around on the tank. I did the nc500 and the magnet, with strap at front, was great. Only time the bag has come off has been when the bikes been over, either at dunnet head or on a trail.

    • @kentuckyjustice1408
      @kentuckyjustice1408 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micahgregory292 I used it on a (stock) dr650 tank. My sheepskin seat cover prevented the magnets from working. I ended up using 2 of the 4 supplied straps to secure it to the frame, then clipped the front strap around the frame, near the triple tree. I guess you get what you pay for.
