For some odd reason a set of producers thought we were concerned about looks; if you could sang, that was all that mattered. It was the same for Milli Vanilli. Whoever sung on those songs were jammin! We didn't care about the looks. Your music gives you your own swag! The real singer of this son did her thang.
I don’t need to say another word in this section! Thank you so much! Marsha Walsh was treated so unfairly! She is the lead singer on this song! Her vocals are incredible! I love the request! Satori is so cute with these reactions! 😎⭐️❤️👍🏽👏🎵🎶🎼🎤🎧💿
Too bad the producers of the official video for this song didn’t think Martha Wash was good enough, “esthetically”, to showcase her in the video. Instead, they chose a model and had her lip sync Martha’s vocals on the actual recording. Martha Wash is a very talented singer and this stunt was shameful. Like the record, hate the game!
MAJOR Dance Club song and all over airwaves and MTV in 1990. A force to be reckoned with. As mentioned below, vocalist Martha Wash (from The Weathergirls of "It's Raining Men" fame) sued because they used her voice uncredited--she wasn't MTV-telegenic as a BBW so they just put a skinny girl in the video. Same era as Milli Vanilli, so the music industry was more about a package and looks, versus the body diversity we see in the industry today.
They passed off some French chick as the lead on the song in the videos/tv apperances, it was laughable, probably one of the greatest dance oriented albums ever
Martha Wash is an amazing singer. She sang a duet with Luther Vandross on his Power of Love album. The song was " I (Who Have Nothing). 🔥🔥
Great song! The vocalist was top tier! ❤

Exactly
Martha Wash got her props because she had to sue the record company. She showed she was the actual singer on this song on the Arsenio Hall Show
I'm glad she did, guess they figured she wasn't good enough to be in a video being she was a plus size woman. Glad she got her justice.
.. was in the hits list when I start my nigh life decade !!
Love this song even though Black Box got sued. They used this singer's voice and put someone else in the video.

Hard core dancer's classic back in the day in Jersey. A good jumpin workout.
Hope he gets up and dances to this!😮

Ms Martha Wash is a great sanger❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Im glad Martha Wash got to do TV. The people on Amen didn't care about looks only talent.
That wasn’t Martha Wash. That was Roz Ryan as Amelia. They do resemble each other. ✌🏽
