Vive is a great company but it's not a consumer friendly company like meta who support all classes of society, not just like apple who created their product for some rich people to enjoy, also in terms of software and product support no company can even near the meta, they actually love the vr technology and want everyone to enjoy it, not just a few rich people. This is why I love meta.

@Upgrayedddd the things you said apply to all companies, including apple. This is a normal thing. They do this for money, but some companies care more than others. Im not saying they are good companies. I said from bad to worse, i choose bad. Also, the Facebook account is not needed anymore for meta quest headset to enjoy vr. All im saying is that the meta is far more experienced in vr than apple, and if i must choose vr, i go for Meta. This is my personal opinion. If you dont like them thats fine. Just dont support them, thats all.
VRRP of course. If you want a good laugh, have the AI simulate an epic rap battle. The results are something you have to see for yourself. I had it play the role of Emma M formerly Eminem, Puff Daddy and his life partner Mase, and Juvenile. Been sold on AI ever since. It would be ideal if we could sideload our own local LLM. There are small quants that easily fit on mobile hardware so it's feasible. Meta's censored and uncensored Llama models are night and day.

Old lenses and same old displays is an instant no-go. HTC always shooting themselves in the foot. Display port out and what looks like onboard camera tracking are positives but the negatives make it a no-buy yet again. Good job HTC.

@@Unome5150 they really aren't. That's why no current or future headset uses or is planning to use them. Aspheric or pancake lenses are the only options.

I wish HTC Would make a Vive Pro 3 with Lighthouse tracking. Use all the technology, new optics, a decent microphone solution for once (more similar to the Valve Index or HP Reverb G2). Right now for lighthouse tracking, only the Bigscreen Beyond and Pimax Crystal Lite seem like decent replacements for the Valve Index, and each has downsides that are hard to ignore (neither have a good integrated audio solution, Pimax has a history of bad and unstable software, and Bigscreen has a reduced FOV of 100 Degrees instead of the 110 Degrees of most VR headsets).
They should move their tracking more towards self tracked controllers like the quest pros
@@GeozietyGTAG At the high end, there is a lack serious of Lighthouse based headsets that could actually succeed the Valve Index. Valve's next headset is likely to be a standalone, so that will leave Index users with no upgrade path from Valve.

As a long time owner of every oculus/meta headset, I still to this day use my HTC vive more often than my quest 3. Could be the OLED panels, the comfort, uncompressed pcvr, or the lack of having to put up with meta, idk

@@Optamizm I agree, but for the time it was still pretty good. Same with the Vive Pro. That thing was index-resolution, but pentile OLED instead, and modifying aspheric lenses into it is/was a piece of cake on the regular VP.
For facetracking, many still prefer the eyetracked version over basically anything else on the market.
Yes if they‘d bring out a 120hz oled 4k headset that would be amazing.
And yes, OLED is way more immersive. I still sometimes use my quest 1 for flight simulation at night. Just amazing. But the resolution is trash compared to quest 3y

If you have a radeon GPU, you can overclock the Vive Pro to 120hz. Have plenty of vive pro displays around.
If you replace the displays, you can also pop in Odyssey+ displays. same resolution but they have a extra layer that "smears" the pixels into the screendoor gaps, halving screendoor effect to be similar to way higher resolution, while still keeping the compute load at 2880x1600.
Small face cushion for index-like fov
GearVR lens mod for aspheric lenses similar to the Aero or the Crystal without any edge blur and a massive lens sweetspot.
And now remember, that headset runs SteamVR without any software, out of the box. Is native-lighthouse and hence also has native support for Index controllers.
Vive Pro Eye can do everything as well but with Facetracking on top which is still slightly ahead of the Quest Pro in facetracking quality.
The best part? used Vive pro 1's go for dirt cheap (Eye's not so much because the facetracking community likes to tinker way more)
But yeah. Basically all Odyssey+ or Vive Pro displays I used with my radeon gpu could run at 120hz no problem. gets more toasty but never had a display not do it.
I never tried the Focus 3, but I'm thrilled to see HTC taking a step in the right direction with Displayport. Like many others, I'm skeptical that the price will make this new headset a reasonable choice for most folks, but I'm still curious
if you look at Google's recent Pixel Pro Fold and Pixel 9 Pro tease videos you'll notice that this Vive tease is extremely similar. Is this maybe the collab?

I'm pretty worried if it's a business headset. That wouldn't help them in the slightest. If it's a consumer headset I'm a little more optimistic, as they supported the XRE until it actually became a decent headset (They finally gave it a real top strap and gasket). The Focus 3 is an incredibly comfortable headset with a large FOV, so getting that (with hopefully the same FOV and USB C charging this time) as their flagship consumer (with a current gen chip) would be a really good plan for them. My biggest concern is that they see the $4000 Vision Pro and use it as an excuse to make it a $1500+ headset. They got the hardware and software figured out, but price will decide it's fate.
About the price, why most of the people forget that meta only able to sell the quest so cheap, because of the user data they are selling from it. HTC, and Apple not selling your user data, or if they sell any, not even remotely close to what meta sells.
@@nagyFerko I can understand them being unable to do $500 or cheaper, but while the XRE launched with no library, this one will have a serviceable one to start with which can recoop the lower margins. A $750 headset will earn far more money in the long run than a $1100 one ever could due to the magnitudes larger pool of buyers.
Always hopeful to see more eye tracking on the market in hopes it inspires more support on the application side
It feels like eye tracking is one of the biggest examples of the chicken-or-the-egg problems in VR so little by little more hardware support will hopefully move it forward
We need micro oled eye tracking pancake lenses. LCD and fresnel is insane for a new headset.

After the cosmos and vive pro 2 it would need to be crazy good to be worth it.
The vive pro could of been so good great screens 120hz good fov good comfort and perfect lighthouse tracking but the lens were so bad. if they use Fresnel lens it will be rubbish. honestly the older vive pro body with glass lens and the new 2880 Qled screens would be the best headset for gamers.

The last vive headset i was considering was the vive pro eye back in 2022. Then they discontinued it. 😅 The day i went to buy it was the day it wasnt showing up on their web store 😂

There is VERY LITTLE CHANCE i would ever buy another HTC headset. They always felt kinda shitty compared to whatever similarly priced headset shared the market at the time.
I wonder whether the Meta AI will cause more battery drain on the Quest 3 or if most of the processing will be offloaded to the cloud. If the processing is offloaded then I would expect that either Meta will need to charge monthly for the feature or else Meta figures it can sell information derived from your AI interactions to cover the operational costs.
Yes, what main things I want to know is how good are the optics, the sweet spot any good (how does it compare to the quest 3 which is very good) , and is this another 1000 dollar headset like the current VIVE headset. Does it connect direct to the GPX card display port - which would be a plus). Does it work without base stations - which I always have inside out tracking????
It has to be very good to beat my Quest 3 headset. Time shall Tell with future reviews and more specification details.

I think what these companies don't understand is that it is mostly about the software.
Hardware is to wow people and get them in the door, but to actually have people stay you need good stable software.
But who knows, maybe they do and they just count on continuously wowing people and the software just being okay enough to not get bad publicity. That is definitely not how you build stable companies.
Using a wifi direct (mobile hotspot) connection from my legion go to virtual desktop on my quest 3 is basically the same experience im expecting from Valve Deckard.
I always liked htc headsets, but i have zero use for standalone devices😊

This is cool but I don't understand why it will use the older XR2 Gen 1 chipset. I like the displayport and eye tracking though, but I don't want to compromise with a slower chipset than what's in my Quest 3

Immersed seems to have quite a weird take on viral marketing, they have spammed the same short for 50 times. Seems it has worked, as it has blown up few times hitting over 10mil.
Still no one tested the visor, and all their marketing is just one trash meme over and over

Sorry to throw shade on a new headset but....My question is for the whole industry: "Wheres the software" I just counted up the apps on the Quest store and its 465. Like, 465. This is the best selling platform and its 5 years old. At 5 years the Android and IOS app stores hit a million. We don't need more VR headsets.
We dont need 2000 clones of brick breaker and Tower defense. Don't forget about SideQuest or Streaming Steam games.
There's a bunch of VR software on PC. If I go by "VR titles" tags on Steam (which includes titles with both non-VR and VR modes I presume) it's at a respectable 6,837 titles.
Meta AI is only coming to the USA and not the UK just like the voice activated features in which I have never had and in my opinion meta should just cut the price in the UK because it actually doesn't feature features that the Quest 3 has in the USA which is not fair as that means I bought a inferior product because Sony doesn't do that
Last time I bought a HTC standalone headset, (the vive focus plus) half of the colors were replaced with black, no brighter colors, and the left eye was bugging out any time I played a Steam VR game, but HTC Vive tech support said it wasn't their fault, that it was the fault of Steam VR games. (it was fine in the home room screen area where it puts you when you first turn it on, otherwise)

Also HTC messes up at least one key feature ALWAYS and it looks like on this new headset it will be using the old lenses and displays. Major bummer with that. Pancake lenses or bust in 2024 and beyond!!!

@@xorqwerty8276 the quest is sold at lost, its price barely get them back the cost of the parts, but for meta, it cost way more to create a headset, the hole R&D in hardware and software is really expensive. They can only afford it like that because every quest collect user data, data of your room (basically a spy camera with ai in it), things in it, what you are doing with the headset, what sites you are using, what game you are playing, and selling those data. Meta had problem when it was find out that they also sell private messenger chats too. That’s why the quest is relatively cheap. You pay with your privacy
HTC have been for businesses and not for consumers has always been an issue.
They've never properly price their stuff for consumers to get them(always been way overpriced too).
Quest gets lovely pancake lenses for less than £600 and HTC still does fresnel's and charge a fortune. I'm surprised they haven't gone under by now lol

@@nagyFerko They subsidize the cost of their Quest headsets and make it up mostly in software sales within their store. 30% of sales on their platform goes to meta and is a lot of money over time. Just like Xbox and PlayStation does with their consoles. Steam also makes 30% off each sale. Every piece of tech tracks and sells your data in some fashion these days. Good luck getting around that and still be a tech enthusiast. (Edited for clarity)

If so, everyone could make cheap headsets like meta, bot other companies can’t make as much money from user data, so they just get their cost back from the hardware sales. Even in the video, it was said that meta can do this because of the data they are collecting. You should just buy the free 500usd worth tv that was advertised a little back then. It just constantly monitors you, and shows you ads. If that’s what you think, and you say that’s what we have to accept then have the guts and do it.

I'm sure they are selling that as well but to say it's ALL coming from data tracking only is ridiculous. Just because Tyriel said it does not make it the end all be all. This is why companies spend so much money and effort making an ecosystem to sell software. The plan is to recoup money from sales there. My statement stands that all tech is being tracked for data sale these days. Your web browsers, gaming accounts, bank cards, cell phone providers, phone apps, shopping accounts, smart watches, gaming consoles, smart features in cars/tv/home appliances, ect. Again, good luck not having your data sold. You are always free to not buy from meta or any of those things I listed.

They can’t price it that low, even in the video it was said that they have to get the cost back from the hardware since they are not collecting and selling user data as meta does.
I come from an oculus rift S, it is the only VR experience I have had. But it bothers me that the texts read so badly. If price were not a problem, which top 3 glasses would you recommend? thank you very much in advance
I just upgraded from the rift S to the quest 3, if you get even a cheap aftermarket head strap and a cable (I went with Syntech USB-C to USB3) it’s an absolutely amazing headset

I’m guessing this isn’t OLED panels again? I never understand why this isn’t a bigger issue for people. To get real immersive VR does the image quality not matter? Whats the point of ultimate sharpness if its just ‘grey’. So many games and experiences are dark and shadowy…. Shades of grey just doesn’t cut it. Any future stand alone headsets going to give us OLED panels? .. not including Apple obviously…. I was hoping for one i wouldn’t have to re-morgage my house to own!! 😁

Htc has a history of dominating a market for a while, falling behind, leaving for a while, and then coming back with a banger. My phone is proof of this.
Funny, We now see how the ("significance of the passage of time") shows us all the unused VR head sets on display on huge storage shelves behind the Top VR Streamers, The outdated, not used, no good, poor longevity, low quality spec, And then the Announcement of more New VR headsets with yesterYEARS Chips and low memory are about to come out TO The Newest High End Got to have one If Your Rich or get one for testing. VR Headsets so High End Most Home Gaming Computers can't even run the game on max settings to use its High End features. But you got one!!! Lets Put our VR Goggles on and Pretend we Know where this VR thing is going. We don't need no stinking VR STANDARDS. (they change to fast anyway) NEXT.......
Dude, I just want them to release controllers with hall sensors or something, these extreme drift prone devices are absolutely pathetic. Especially when you can't even buy a new controller. 2 quest 3 headsets, one for me, one for my gf, mine got stock drift in 6 months and is used a few times a week. Hers has maybe... 10 hrs use and already has stick drift. It's nonsense. My PSVR2 had stick drift right out of the box, and one of my PS5 controllers also has stick drift. Let's not even begin to talk about Nintendo. Terrible.
I have the Vive Pro. I still think it's the best headset ever made, for my purposes.
The next headset I'll get will be high resolution OLED with Steam tracking and high quality lenses. I'm thinking it will be the Pimax Crystal Super with micro OLED panels.

Personally, I would never purchase another headset made by HTC. They have anti-consumer policies and terrible customer service. They’ve only made 1 good headset ever (OG Vive) and that was designed by Valve.

Well if they make another Inside-out tracking standalone headset instead of PCVR... its going to flop. Nobody wants Enthusiast standalone unless its using futuristic technology where it has a 8 hour battery life, no controll occlusion, wide FOV, zero compression, and high quality visuals... which is not accomplishable. All those things are PCVR.
HTC must have some of the dumbest people in the industry working for them. It's like they haven't even tried any other headsets but their own. If I were to make a headset it would be a combination between the Quest 3 and big screen beyond, pancake lenses and micro OLED displays along, lightweight and very comfortable. Hell in reality, all they would have to do is mimic the Quest 3 and put micro OLED displays in and they would have a winner.
Would I consider a vive? No. I'd be willing to bet this will be the same as every other HTC release since they split from Valve: a couple of interesting features combined with some seriously bizarre design decisions with an uncompetive price. Pass.

I bloody hate this pass though crap no one actually uses it, I've been in the vr industry for years is such a gimik, it tried the focus & the XR elite they it was honestly the worst software I had ever used zero support, integration & even worse they abandoned it basically.. the first vice was good for it's time but now they need to step up software is the biggest part of vr id say..
Also as I said no one uses or gets a vr headset for pass-though, these highly pass-though central headsets people will use for a few days then never use again because it's inconvenient...
What people really use vr for is GAMING
They need to improve the experience, comfort & make it customisable, need something light weight but very good tracking also wireless but with pc connection because people are always going to upgrade with a pc once they see how good it is..
I honestly think the XR could have been amazing if they just made the fov wider, soften the foam made a comfortable strap, removed camera tracking replacing it with base stations tracking cut the pass-though crap, redo the software completely & maybe even made an in built imu tacker so slimes can easily be linked as they are honestly the future
