    It’s a solid reel. It gets used a lot on the west coast for tuna. There is a newer version of it that came out

    nice video contents. may I ask, why did you release back the red snapper? and second question, is your sinker touch to the bottom or hanging in the middle of water? i believe the boat was drifting right?

    Nice day of fishing 👍 I been looking at those Fathoms for a while. I like the Fathom star drag 6.1:1 gear ratio w/ 30lbs of drag. Your lever drag w/ that low gear seems pretty cool, though.

    • @SaltyStrikes
      @SaltyStrikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      … I have a full review video coming soon, I think I like the lever drag a bit better than the star drag

    Nice veriaty Chris, those Lane Snapper were solid fish, pitty you can't keep at least one Red Snapper. That reel looked pretty smooth, l'll wait for the review, tight lines Captain 🎣 🐟 🇦🇺 🇺🇲

    Nice man! I actually like those reels and they have them in left handed. I was going to order one for people I bring on the boat so they don't have to use my $700 Accurate lol. These small conventional reels are better on a long butt rod

    • @SaltyStrikes
      @SaltyStrikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      … I agree a little longer butt would be nice, got the rod in a hurry on amazon

  • @joelmitchell4289
    @joelmitchell4289 ปีที่แล้ว

    I noticed that this conventional reel doesn't have a line guide to the spool. What is the benefit of having no line guide?

    • @joelmitchell4289

      Awesome vid btw!

    • @jamiehoward4980
      @jamiehoward4980 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if there is a benefit maybe more line capacity. They are pretty simple just guide the line with your fingers back and forth evenly

    • @SaltyStrikes
      @SaltyStrikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      … full review coming soon

    • @moneyymoney1032
      @moneyymoney1032 ปีที่แล้ว

      the benefit for having no line guide is sometimes because of human mistake,our finger will stuck at the bottom of the line guide when the fish pull the line out hard and causing it broken

    That rod looked pretty smooth, we are pretty stuck on spinning reels, but I wouldn’t be against a nice bait caster like that.

    • @SaltyStrikes
      @SaltyStrikes  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bait casters and lever drags are similar but different. Full review coming soon. Been thinking about doing a separate video on spinnng vs conventional reels too.

    You sound like your landing Marlin! They aren’t that big… get in the gym or something. Your wife doesn’t make those women noises when winding a fish!

  • @junito1957
    @junito1957 ปีที่แล้ว

    lmfao , you need a left handed reel why in the world are you fighting big ass fish with your weakest arm( left side) when your right handed , you should be using your right arm to hold the pole and reel in with your left hand, dont feel bad 70 % of the fisherman are using the wrong side reel when it come to big game fish

    • @SaltyStrikes
      @SaltyStrikes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s incorrect, spinning gear you fight the fish with the rod with your dominant hand and gain line back with your weak hand when you drop the rod to gain line. Conventional gear is just the opposite, you fight the fish with the reel and winch them in with your dominant hand and hold the reel with your weak hand, or in a rod holder for trolling and such. That’s why 75% of conventional reel are sold as right handed reel because they where designed this way and most people are right handed. There are plenty of article out there that explain this info in great detail. Thanks for watching, the more you know 👍, stay salty!
