What a treat to see a first edition S-Type Turbo. I have the same model in dark Coco Brown with tan cloth bucket seats. Mine has the moonroof, twin power seats, fiber optics, cassette stereo with CB and the very rare digital dash with the multi button center keyboard which shows various information, much like Cadillac's trip display computer first offered a year earlier in the Seville. You are correct, this was Motor Trend's Car Of The Year plus a big hit with every other automobile magazine. Thanks for showing it! Made my day.
Thank you for sharing! Sounds like your Riviera has quite a few rare options that this one does not. Having the digital dash would be pretty awesome! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I was surprised to hear Toyota-like beeping sound when you started up this 1979 Buick for the seatbelt reminder. I thought all Buicks still used a scary buzzer until at least 1982.
My Mom had the same car in the same color with a moonroof and vinyl top. It was quick for 1979!
Similar turbo setup on this V6 to 1962-63 Olds Jetfire but that had all aluminum V8:

i just love it how it looks like a grandmas car but with the turbo
Nice solid car for a ‘79 turbo which I never had but I got the ‘85 convertible burgundy instead and love it 😊

Beautiful car. Is that a repaint of original color or the original paint job?
Must have been a big guy who owned it. That driver seat is bent back and to the right.
Beautiful car though. I love the color.
I believe this car is a 3-speed automatic.
You are correct. It has a 3-speed automatic transmission.
