My mother died of cancer when I was 24. I was a total Mama's baby from the day I was born and her death almost killed me. I had this song on a tape in my car and, after her death, I put it on repeat, drove and drove and drove every day listening to it and crying my eyes out, alone, where no one could see me so destroyed. I still miss her and, though I've heard this song thousands of times, I always get a lump in my throat when Paul sings: And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me... The Beatles were the first band I ever saw live. I was 9, my mother took my big sister and me to the show. Twenty years ago, I lost my sister, too, to breast cancer, which Paul's mother and his wife, Linda, also died of. In fact, my sister, Lynda, was treated in the same NYC hospital as Paul's Linda. I'm sorry your Mom, it sounds like, wasn't such a great one, sweetheart, but you are and will be loved in abundance in your life. I don't know how old y'all are, but obviously quite young. Eventually, if you've not already, you'll lose someone to death you can't imagine living without. When that happens, listen to this song again. It is very soothing and reassuring when you are dealing with such a situation, I promise. That said, I wish you both the best of everything. Just realized I'd not subscribed. Sorry. Done! ❤️

Paul wrote this song after his mother, Mary, who had died years earlier when he was in his teens, came to him in a dream when he was going through a very stressful time in his life and was depressed. She told him to just "Let It Be" and don't let it get him down. So the very first line of the song about "In my time of darkness, Mother Mary came to me speaking words of wisdom, Let It Be", is from that night. His song Yesterday is from a dream as well.

My mother rejected me and my aunt (who was also my god mother) helped raise me. When I used to get upset over my mother, she would say 'Let it be'. Her legal name was Mary. After her death, I never made the connection until she passed. Now this song reminds me of her. McCartney's lyricism is brilliant. Harrison and Lennon sound like angels - and Paul's vocals are gorgeous. But the music: Billy's keyboards, Paul on piano, Billy on keyboard, John on bass, Ringo's drums and George's beautiful lead guitar. Just brilliant. The whole arrangement is sublime. A song for the ages. A song that reminds me how wise and loving my aunt was. RIP Aunty Verna, I will never forget you.

They were really amazing because every song on every album was unique and great. And then every album each had its own feel to it that was distinct and a departure from the last album. Back then, people would listen to a whole album, because you couldn’t just buy every song by itself. A lot of times you had to buy the whole album. So musicians really put an effort into making every song on an album good. Another very sweet gentle song by them is Blackbird. I can almost cry listening to it.

I've been through a lot of things this past year , and in my darkest hour I prayed - Hard - especially The Hail Mary - so this song really feels right for me ...

They were the only group that had the slot from 1 to 5 in the top ten at the same time.

The Beatles greatest rock and roll band ever, like them or not! This is one of their best songs amongst many great ones.

The cool thing about the Beatles is that all four members were successful musicians on their own. Each one had a great solo career. Check out “What Is Life” by George Harrison, “Photograph” by Ringo Starr, “Instant Karma” by John Lennon, and “Band on the Run” by Paul McCartney. Just to let you know, you could make up your own TH-cam channel on the four members music alone. Lots to explore here, so have fun.
