- Colin Gray was visibly emotional, rocking back and forth in his chair, as he appeared in court for his initial appearance on Friday morning following the arraignment of his 14-year-old Colt Gray.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Colin Gray, one day after investigators said his son opened fire at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, killing two classmates and two teachers.
The judge read Colin Gray his charges, which included two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of second-degree involuntary manslaughter and eight counts of second-degree cruelty to children. He explained the charges combined are punishable by a maximum penalty of 180 years in prison.
Colin Gray’s lawyer did not request bond, but said he would have new counsel beginning later in the day.
A preliminary hearing was set for Dec. 4 at 8:30AM ET for both Colin Gray and his son.

The child's grandfather said it best, "If he didn’t have a damn gun, he wouldn’t have gone and killed anybody." It is a parent's responsibility to be watchful of their child. All of these school shootings have the same thing in common: parents not being parents and making sure their kids aren't doing anything reckless. Parents need to do better. The only reason his father is being held accountable is because he bought the gun for his son even if he hadn’t bought the gun for his son if it was the father is gun and he didn’t keep it locked up he should 100% be held accountable.
I agree that after the threats of violence, the father should have never bought the son a gun however, to say that if he didn't have a damn gun, he wouldn't have killed anyone is just ludicrous. 75% of mass shooting and 88% of school shooting are committed by people with guns that were stolen or that they did not own.

It is a very difficult subject. After columbine, we should have had laws in place that restricted weapons of war being available to the general public. I will never understand why people think their guns are going to be taken away from them if they restrict certain firearms like this one. There should also be laws on the book that are specific to what happens to people who do not lock up their firearms. I’m a pacifist who owns firearms. I do not think that expanding background checks and limiting things like bump stocks which allow people to fire off 60 rounds a second have any place in a civilized society. The Sandy Hook tragedy took place in my state. We have still not recovered from that. Never mind how the victims families are doing. Tiny children shot by another child. An absolute travesty. Absolutely 2nd amendment supporter, it's a right. Father failed on the responsibility part of that right.
As well as financially liable. Funerals and medical care are not cheap and shouldn't be the liability of the victims and their families.
2nd amendment supporter;
If you can’t be a responsible gun owner then deal with the consequences😤.
I also support the second amendment and your argument for parental responsibility, but I don't believe that it provides the putlic the right to own and use any kind of "arms". I believe that the ownership and use of certain types of weapons should be controlled. I think that semiautomatic weapons with replaceable magazines or magazines with a capacity beyond that of a 6 shooter should require annual licensing of owners and weapons. That still allows weapons to be available but are controlled like fully auto and other more lethal weapons.
Absolutely. You always have a responsibility to exercise your freedom and rights reasonably. You never have the right to hurt others with your disregard.
He was warned about his sons threats and THEN he bought him a killing machine. You cant feel sorry for this dad. An act of grave stupidity
It's not the fact that he bought his son a gun. In rural areas a lot of fathers buy their son's, and some buy their daughters guns. It's the fact that he bought the son a gun, knowing that his son was suspected of making threats of shooting up a school and allowing the son to have the gun unsupervised. I bought my son a gun to hunt with when he was 12, but he never was allowed to handle that gun unsupervised. If I had gotten a visit from the FBI that my son was suspected of threatening to shoot up a school, the gun would have been gone. As parents, sometimes we miss things but when your told that something like that might have happened, you take action, not just to save kids at school, but to save your son and get him all the help he needs.
I agree, but also the type of gun. Please, you can't deny is also important the type of weapon as well?
I agree, but let's also agree, if that child was intent on using a gun or any other weapon, even a butcher knife, to harm others, nothing could have stopped him. The damage of these incapable parents was already done a long time ago. Read the history...horrendous. Some people should never have children.

@robertlawrence9000 the father bought him the gun that was used in the killings. A year prior, the kid was investigated by the fbi for the death threats he made on sm. He denied making those threats.
