As a Thai person, seeing you in Bangkok has made my day, happy to see my culture represented on a "global" scale. Anyways, you should definitely check out the inner city area near the palace, theres a ton of unique and interesting buildings and districts with old histories there. As a Thai person who practically lives on the internet and mostly consumes western content, it's so surreal seeing places that I've seen or have been to in person like this. It's very refreshing to experience the city I've lived in my whole life from a new point of view.
The thing I really recommend the most in Thailand is to try out our street food. Thai cuisine in general is something I'm immensely proud of, but I feel that the most quintessential Thai experience is being pleasantly surprised by extremely cheap street food. Also our coconut milk ice cream (ไอติมกะทิ) is amazing. It's pretty commonly found at various tourist destinations.
I'm glad you seem to be enjoying your stay in Bangkok thus far and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this type of content.

I love this style of travel vlog. It doesn't have to be the absolute highlights of a location to make a watchable video. I really enjoyed discovering and appreciating the little wonders along with you. I felt the same way about your Madeira video. I think Geoguessr is unironically an amazing tool for exploration because it shows you those spots that maybe most people don't know about (and you probably wouldn't have found otherwise) and then you get to have a cool experience :)
11:58 That's exactly it. It's definitely not bad content! Because of your video we get to "walk around and see things" without actually being there. So I know I can't be the only one enjoying this style of content. I don't think you need to do anything differently!

I lived in Thailand for a couple years, Bangkok is a beautiful city. You will also love Chiang Mai and Phuket. Krabi is also totally worth a visit in southern Thailand - a little less touristy than Phuket and insanely beautiful. Go see the Tiger Cave Temple if you get out there! Also if you get the chance, north-eastern Thailand (the "Esan") is much less visited and less touristy than everywhere else, it has a whole different vibe. I lived in Nongkhai along the Laotion border for 4 or 5 months while I was there, there's a bridge that connects Nongkhai with Vientiane (which...by the way is pronounced "wiang-jan" in Laotion - the romanized spelling of that city makes no sense to how you say it) over the Mekong river, and there's some cool temples/markets as well. All of Thailand is amazing though, hope you enjoy your visit!

also just some random thoughts in case you're finding things to do in bangkok:
      - for historical/cultural centers: rattanakosin island (it's not actually an island but there were once canals surrounding the area)
      - for more chic/modern cafes/walkable area: i prefer ari
      - for parks: there's lumpini park, rotfai park, among others
      - for food: one of the most famous is the Chinatown in yaowarat
      - for fast paced modern shopping zones: siam and surrounding areas are good
      - and there's also a building shaped like an elephant if you wanna stop by haha!
i also enjoyed travelling to many provinces that aren't exactly that well known in tourist recs but if you have the time my favourite are: nan (in the north), ayutthaya (central), loei (northeast), petchabun (khao koh is a great camping area), or if you like more serene beaches id totally recommend the southern islands (my top picks are similan islands and koh tao island)! anyways, love your content a lot!!

  • @jake.5877

This type of content is great! It's such a good idea to let go to waste on trying to look for things that are "exciting" like 'breaking plates' etc... Dale Phillip is a great example of someone that does what you like to do, and it's super interesting to see what is great about other cultures and immerses himself as much as he can while still technically being a tourist. If you haven't seen his content before I would highly recommend it and maybe take some inspiration from it as well!
But yeah my point is, exploring new cultures is incredibly interesting by it's self and can make for great content also! :D

Been there with my girlfriend for two days a few weeks ago. Couple of fun places to check out that we enjoyed a lot:
The night markets at Jodd Fair. Lots of local street food like mango sticky rice, durians and various kinds of seafood. Was very crowded when we were there, but nice atmosphere and very fun place to spend an evening exploring Thai food and items with friends.
Mahanakon tower skybar, I think it's the tallest building. We went to the top (pretty expensive, I think 40 euros per person, though one free drink is included). There's a glass floor you can lie on and you'll see the city below. Photos look dazzling, Bangkok at night looks beautiful.
Temples. All of them. They're very beautiful. Closely look at the opening times, because some of them are closed pretty early. We only had time to visit Wat Phra Chetuphon, the one with the reclining Buddha. Everything is super colourful and gold. Made some really nice sunset photos too. We got there by public ferry, which was a nice way to see Bangkok from the river.
Oh, yeah don't be us and get scammed by eating in touristy restaurants. If you find the right places, food is very cheap
Would love to go back some day. Lots more to explore that we missed out on

Chill vibes and seeing the environment with your geoguessr knowledge is already good stuff

If you're living in Bangkok for a few months, you should definitely learn to use the public transport system, both the sky train and the subway! Not only will it help you get into the mindset and groove of the city, but many of the stops will take you to key locations that I'm sure you wouldn't want to miss out on.
Edit: Also, make sure to learn the local etiquette in public transport. Wearing masks is not always required but sometimes doing it out of courtesy for others, I find, is right

My favourite part about Bangkok Thai post boxes is how they say "Bangkok" and "Other places" =). The 5th place is koh kret, nice little created island with a bunch of crafty stuff. Including one of the original local thai craft brewers (chit beer). Fattys bar and diner is a friendly place to visit, tuesday nights are usually a good time ;)

I've got to suggest going to this resort on a big island off of Phuket. It's came Santhinya Koh Yao Yai. It's unbelievably beautiful, cheap, and the island is very quiet and peaceful.

Would be cool if you made a solid effort to learn some of the languages of the places you are moving around to. Not only would it make living in places not dominated by English easier to live in, but it'd probably help at actually getting better at geoguessr. Just being able to pronounce something not in Latin script could be a huge clue (Cyrillic comes to mind here)

Ey! I lived in Thailand for 9 years, so glad you visited! These thai metas show how much you know about the country even from a screen away haha! Very respectful too

Going to parks as a tourist is really enjoyable. They're usually not touristy, usually free, and often lots of interesting things to do and see, and people to talk with.

you're doing a great job with the vlogging - i can only imagine that its difficult when its new to you. its very nice to see you out and about instead of exclusively on geoguessr. i envy what you are doing and all i can say is congrats on seizing the opporotunity to live like this. looking forward to more

The green sign you saw is sort of a government notice for any public project. What it does is basically notifies people about what the public project is, when is it begin, and how much it cost. It’s usually in front of public building, roads, etc.

honestly I love content of people walking around new places. Nomadic Ambience and Rambalac are two of my favorite channels on TH-cam. While videos like that probably won't get as popular as your Geoguessr content, you'll definitely have part of your fanbase who really enjoys that type of content.

The 2nd spot is super dope, it's a peninsula full of nature and elevated cycling paths right in Bangkok. It's a super cool place, I would recommend everyone who visits Bangkok to see it for a day, I loved it there!

Taxis in Bangkok are pretty good, but you should definitely use the MRT rail system - it's way faster for getting around most of the city than sitting in a cab, and you can always catch a taxi for the last part.

I recommend going to a 7/11 and doing a food or snack review, Thailand has a fairly solid food catalogue in their convenience store, and I would recommend grabbing a Strawberry Milk, its really good.

love this irl content, especially from a country like Thailand, which we in the west don't know that much about
btw, about the irl vlogging, I think you'll get used to it with time, cuz even other youtubers that are known for vlogging get uncomfortable filming outside every now and then, I think it's a normal reaction but the more you do it, the more natural it'll feel
