    I completely understand "North American Grass" or the like.
    Every region has distinct foliage (plant ecology of an area is based on geology), and it is subtly noticeable if one pays attention.
    I think this is part of the reason we might just "feel at home" in the part of the world where we grew up, the buildings, infrastructure, and foliage, all have a distinct aesthetic.

    • @Washeek
      @Washeek ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Totally. The devil is in the details even if we don't consciously process it.
      I've had this very strange feeling though. I'm from central Europe from Czechia and whenever I've travelled I've always started feeling homesick after a pretty short amount of time (week or two) just because I was missing the specific aesthetic of the land, the foliage etc. I had this even in Spain or France, even Germany.
      The only place, where I felt pretty at home was inland Lithuania and very strangely Britain (specifically southern England around Glastonbury). It seems so strange to me, because Britain is an island, it's quite a more southern place and especially the architecture is very very different.

    Very impressive. I imagine there are some really high paying jobs for your skill set. Getting that close by just looking at grass is really impressive. How much of your guesses feels intuitive? You're so quick it seems intuitive or you have spent an insane amount of time and have literally "seen it all" a couple times.

    • @TheClassicWorld
      @TheClassicWorld ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The only way this makes sense (and it massively crushes his skill set, but he's still most likely fairly high IQ), is that there are only a set number of matches that you get in these games. For example, let's say 'South-west America' has 1,000 images of 'grass', and they are all 90% the same. This could be true, but would not even require you to remember 1,000 grass images. All you'd have to do is figure that 20 of these are always the same and always South-west, and then remember that general 'grass-ness'. This tells you all you need to know. Now, the hard part is doing the same thing for every country on Earth (about 195). So, that's at least 20 x 195 for 3,900 grass images to log in your mind, with most likely 1,000 other random ones that are harder to get/less common to pop up. That's still impressive and difficult, but I don't think it's anywhere near the 'true' scale of such things. You'd have to remember 1 million images otherwise, and that's just inhuman. If the game is very fixed, and you can just log 'American grass' after 2-5 matches (because it only shows certain grass each time), then you only have to remember about 1,000 images of 'grass' in total. (Of course, you need to do the same for buildings and otherwise -- but buildings are a bit easier to figure out.)
      Ironically, he made a mistake with the Greece image. He should have started with the popular locations. If he did this, instead of looking randomly, then he would have solved this in about 5 minutes instead of 3 hours.
