For those unaware, the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment, Delta, came to life because of basically one man. Charging Charlie Beckwith had spent some time with the 22SAS, and figured America needed a similar unit that specialises in hostage rescue. It wasn't easy convincing the Brass that it was a good idea. Eventually he won over them, probably with help from the terrorists, who made it clear that there was a need for such a unit. Charging Charlie was a true warrior. We should all be grateful that such men and their "Toxic Masculinity" exist. Just like Obi Won Nairobi. It wasn't his watch that day. He saw a dire need to rescue people. He probably knew he was the best man within 50 miles or more to undertake the mission. Outstanding! One needs to hear the whole story. Twice while fighting in the stairwells, he was stunned and knock out temporarily by hand grenades thrown down on his position. He kept getting up and clearing rooms and floors. I can only assume that since it wasn't an official war that the British were involved with, a VC was never a possibility. Of course men like him don't fight for medals but personally, I think what he did rates right up there with Rorchs Drift for bravery and going far above and beyond what can be expected of any man, anywhere, anytime. Perhaps a shout out to Dave Sterling for starting the SAS back in North Africa during WW2. Well done sir. I'm sure if he knew what became of L Detachment, he'd be well pleased. Guess I've babbled on more than long enough. Have a good day folks. Hopefully in a country that's free, because of men like them. Amen!!

"Toxic Masculinity" are those that are all bark and no bite as the saying goes, a shallow understanding of power and what it means to wield it. Kenyans did amazing work, they had a veteran SAS operator leading the rescue. Kenyans knew to resolve this quickly and eccifiently is to give Christian all support needed and they did just that.
Unfortunately not. If you watch the actual video evidence of action you'll see that the Kenyans were unsure, and had no idea what to do. After Christian stormed the building several times, the Kenyans then began to support him with his guidance.

Heartiest compliments to the creator of this animated video for taking time out to make such a painstaking visual narration of the incident. Making such animations can be quite laborious.
The phone call he received telling him of the situation, came from American soldiers training Kenyans as well. They were not allowed to take any action. They knew the Brits were allowed. So they called him.
It’s true that the Americans hadn’t been given the green light, but I’m pretty sure Christian was similarly waiting for the British embassy’s go ahead even after he went in. He was off duty and responded to local forces (whom he’d been training) requesting help. Given he was the first of western special forces on scene, alone, he pretty much took command of what everyone there needed to do. Then he just went for it.
There are many exceptional soldiers that go beyond the call of duty and have shown exceptional bravery when saving civilian lives. Those brave souls deserve truly deserve the highest form of respect.
It genuinely amazes me how brave some human beings are, these are just things that are unthinkable to most people. Much love to Britain and her mighty armies.

Amen!!
That's not "Toxic Masculinity", chief. That's the dictionary-definition of the exact opposite.
@@iranianwatercolorhorsepainting wow. I wasn't aware there was a dictionary definition. I was just being sarcastic. Personally, I feel masculinity can never be toxic. I'm sure there's thousands of people ready to tear me apart for saying it. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to find my dictionary to look that up but suspect it's too old for such trendy words.
"Toxic Masculinity" are those that are all bark and no bite as the saying goes, a shallow understanding of power and what it means to wield it. Men like Craighead are unassuming, quiet, but focused and disciplined and know EXACTLY how to wield that power.
Outside of Colonel Beckworth... look up Sergeant Major Mike Vining another Delta "Original" and his demeanor was more like Craighead's, which is described above.
There's a reason why teir 1 special operators are known as "Quiet Professionals"
Also green berets got the idea from Royal Marines
Dave Sterling. A proper Scotsman.
Woah, I didn't expect the narrator's face reveal there.
Kenyan Government: Help me Obi Wan Nairobi… you’re my only hope!
If you were a hostage you'd pray that the SAS would turn up - those people's prayers were answered.
@@Mk1Malecan you point me towards the video? Any link?
Just want to make sure that what you say of the Kenyans being incompetent is true until the European shows up to save the day.
All jokes aside, your animations have gotten a whole lot better over the years.
We finally saw you! Keep up the great content!
General Grevious = "General Keno- OH CRAP ITS NAIROBI!"
Nairobi = "The IRS and M16 has found out you haven't paid your taxes"
"These are not the grenades you are looking for" - Obi-wan Nairobi
Absolute British hero, and a member of the Elite of all Elites, only the bloody 22nd! Brilliant, proud to have men like him defending his Majesty's United Kingdom, and protecting those whom cannot protect themselves abroad also.
Oh my gosh it’s good to finally see the face of the voice I’ve been listening to for years!!!!!!
Craig: "Hello There."
Terrorist: "Ah, the negotiator."
Craig: "Nope." **opens fire**
And that is why high standards and hard training is so very important for elite forces.
I'm Kenyan 🇰🇪 and really enjoyed this#DuSit.Rest in Peace to those lost in the carnage.
Please take this in a good way ... Been a subscriber for a long time, and this is the first time I've seen what you look like! Wasn't what I expected, but very nice to finally put a face to the voice!
10:15 … I was absolutely expecting him to start off with… “sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY…” 😂🤣
Bro is the real Obi Wan Kenobi.
It's time for an episode on Paddy Mayne.
Especially with the release of SAS Rogue Hero's being such a succes
A part of me can't help but feel that deep down he was excited because for him this is like a pro gamer playing a game during a free trial weekend.
4:27 I saw an interview with him where he mentioned that his playlist automatically started when he got in his car. While he was driving over there, it was playing "Storm" by Vivaldi. This guy had such a crazy hero moment that he had his own soundtrack to inform the movie about him later in life.
Heartiest compliments to the creator of this animated video for taking time out to make such a painstaking visual narration of the incident. Making such animations can be quite laborious.
Just listened to his interview with Garand Thumb the other day. Dude is a beast
"Obi Wan nairobi, he is. Holding an AR-15 he does. Hmmmmm?"

Yoda : "mmmm, Stupid You Choose to be...now death you have chosen...mmm"
This man is a true hero. It's disgusting how the British government has treated him. He should be given American citizenship no questions asked.
Love the fact you go on detail on the gun because you know your audience.
Its nice to see a face to go with the voice! As for the man that is the Subject of this video, you can expect nothing less from a member of the SAS!

What an absolute Beaut.

You gotta love the affectionate nicknames that people come up with!
Good on you, Obi Wan Nairobi (Craighead)! Good show, my friend! 👏🏻🍺🦅
The strongest defense is a swift and decisive offense.
What a legend! Called himself obi wan and did what any man or Jedi would do take on evil that is awesome we need movies about him
Lol not every man would do this mission, this is facts I’ve seen a former SAS man talk about it on his Instagram and said just cause you’re special forces doesn’t mean you’d do what Christian did
As an american i have mad mad respect for craighead i was oleasantly relieved to onow america has shown him the recognition he didnt get at home we may not do the best at supporting our troops but we damn well honor heros and christian (im beyod honored to share that name ) craighead is the posterchild of what a hero is
