The grunt of this thing is incredible, also in my opinion when the cars looked the best. VY commodore and BA falcon I believe.

The old 6-2 Skaife special! I used to love watching/hearing him jam those changes in the old days. What an era!

This was a different time. Minimal aero, manual gearboxes, live rear axles and 650HP. Bucking Broncos to drive I reckon.

Aero hasn't changed that much over the last 19 years - a bit less downforce but not that much less - but yes keeping it on the road and staying on the pace with 650hp for nearly 7 hours would've been a fair bit harder with a H-pattern that you can wrong-slot at any point and a live axle that can kick the arse out sideways so easily.. I miss those days big time

Back then yes, as only last year they got title sponsorship from Virgin Australia and are mainly known just as the Supercars Series now.

Barney Ward and sedans aren't technically Supercars to be exact. They are more like regular touring cars. That being said I reckon they should go back to calling the category Australian Touring Car Championship to make it sound relevant again as they were in the early 90s.

These are ya last built OG v8 supercars in the sense they were family sedans that were amped up... (race em on a Sunday, sell em on a monday)
