When I was a teenager, it was all about Holdens (still is for me), but I still always held a healthy respect for Falcons (except the AU.. what were they thinking?).. the newest falcons look great. It's a time when we should all stand together and be thankful for all the memories and awesome bogan-ness that these car companies created. It's a part of our culture, and it's almost gone forever. I do not have a preference between the two, but I can say (from my experience driving both cars around a track) that I prefer the powerplant of the S/C 5.0L but the commodore's chassis and suspension feels wayyyy better. Better stock tyres too.

Well, 6 Bathurst's to Rusty's 2, 5 touring car titles to Rusty's sole title. Safe to say Skaifey was a rocket. Well, until Ambrose arrived on the scene anyway, the bastard.
VelvetSun2 Schuey also WORKED to get where he was (not saying skaife didn't work hard), and you don't make it to F1 (let alone the one holding the majority of the records) without being able to drive. Schuey also put Ferrari back on the top, Skaife had the GTRs and then HRT which were major cars/teams in their categories to start with. Again, I'm not saying skaife wasn't and isn't a great driver, but in my opinion, he's not a world-class driver. Just like Ambrose, Brock, Johnson and Lowndes were/are great drivers in ATCC/V8SC's, but on a global scale, they're all pretty much over-hyped. I guess the point I was trying to make was that it's relatively easy to be a big fish in a small pond, but to build up a struggling team in the pinnacle of ultra-competitive Motorsport and put it up the top takes a special sort of awesome. I'll admit, I'm not a fan of Skaife, but yes, he can certainly drive extremely well, but I really don't think he was as good as he's cracked up to be. I sincerely hope you're not just being the Holden equivalent of what you accused me of ;-) .

It seems the car you want is the Calais V8 and G6E Turbos, the luxury model that just happen to have the big engine. The SSV and XR8 are supposed to the sports model, right?
Driven both and own a sprint8 Sprint shits all over a Motorsport ss in day to day performance. On the track, well maybe install the same Tyres on both cars and we will see. The Perrelli Tyres ford used on the sprint we’re absolutely crap from day one. I changed mine after 5k it was like night and day.

Most of you guys are idiots, i own both a XR8 Sprint and SSV Motorsport and can tell you that the Sprint is a shit load faster than the stock LS3 and it's some how 5sec slower than the VF2. Hmm something doesn't seem right here, the SSV redline suspension isn't better than the Sprints (the motorsport is, it uses the HSV suspension). Holden driver was clearly a better driver, would've love to seen his lap time in the Sprint.
Given that both of them stick to just the one car 5 Seconds on a track that short is mental I love both those cars patriotically but the Commodore has the chassis sorted out way more than the good old XR8

I've owned 2 VE's, driven VF's and currently own an FG. Driven them all at AIR and Mallala over the years. The current shape Holdens are complete doddles to drive on the limit, very forgiving car. FG's feel more direct but the sedan is very skittish. Ute is a little better, surprisingly! So it's not surprising that the FGX is slower against the stopwatch. Love 'em all!
falcon isn't the same with an American engine. give it a turbo 6 with some basic mid and tuning and you'll have a much better car. even my xh ute feels better at high speeds compared to a mate's ba ute
The engine isn't completely American, it was based on the American Coyote engine and was developed by Prodrive in Australia for the FG MKII FPV line up, Prodrive was then bought by Premcar. Premcar eventually made a package for the XR8 Sprint, it gave it 483 kW and some other updates, it featured OEM reliability which is what really separated it from other power packages for the XR series. Also the Commodore has an American powertrain...

theres a difference between actually being slower and deliberate skewing of the results
xr8 sprint is quicker in quarter mile/straight line but around corners the ss is actually alot better. So on the track ss wins every time
