Great Link! Works perfectly. The title makes it confusing, but I went through alphabetically my 1996K2500 Suburban (GMC) and found everything I was looking for (rear axle ratio, Posi, cooler for trans,..........). Yes printing it out and taking a picture from/of your glovebox label and just making them off as you find them worked perfectly. Excellent TH-cam!!
so i have to do a rear diff flush and fill, i got the gear ratio from the rpo code but there are 3 different options for the gasket depending on ring gear size. how do i find the ring gear size?
I just purchased a 2010 Silverado 2500HD LTZ which was advertised as having a 4.10 axle ratio. RPO code in the glove box reads GT5 which denotes 4.10. I run a VIN check and I get 3.73. Which is correct and why the discrepancy?
if it's any help I don't think things like rear end gears are identified in the VIN.. check out the link on page 139 of 600..it shows what each element of the VIN identifies. www.genuinegmparts.com/src/pdf/resources/1960-2020_Vincards.pdf (and check out my maple leaf --- its the coolest you will have ever seen)
unfortunately the sticker is gone in my 96 tahoe. any other way to find the rpo codes? does anyone know what the codes are that are behind my coolant overflow tank on a sticker attached to the firewall?
The WA number on the bottom is the colors. L means lower color, U means upper color. Call any automotive paint store with the build date [it's on the drivers doorjamb sticker] and those codes and they can tell you what the colors are.
I’m not sure. The codes that I saw in my truck definitely made sense and matched what is on the truck. I wonder if they use the same codes for all of the different vehicles.
Hey there friend; how and where can I find the link address to that site? I have a 2005 Silverado which bought used and need to know what I really have. Thanks allot
Thing is if gmc didn't purchase Chevrolet it would have gone under at the same time as Chrisler, Chevrolet held up GMC because of its supporters, nice truck btw
I just hit the link and it says website not found
GMC code is just the code for the General Motors truck & bus plant, in Pontiac Mi. Chevy and GMC trucks have always been made on the same lines.

Try a Google search or call a dealership
Call GM with VIN in hand
