  • Here is how you program a GM Key to you car for free. The dealer who cut this key for me said I would have to have the vehicle towed in to have they key programed to the car. This is not the case. In 30 Minutes you can have your new key programed to the car. Just follow the steps listed in the video above. Don't pay to have the dealership do it! Save Hundreds of $$$.

Worked like a charm! By the time the AAA guy showed up, I had about 4 minutes left. I told what I was trying to do and he told me to go to dealer to have them program it. We waited until last 10 minutes were up. I turned it over and it started right up. The AAA tech was amazed and impressed!

Broke my key in half this morning. I could not find my spare key 😣 Went to dealership and spent $90 on replaceable key. I was told they had to program it for additional $89 but needed my truck towed there or $50 and some guy does house calls to program it. I decided to check TH-cam just in case and came across your video. South Texas is hottttt so I was praying it would work as I would go in and out to my truck. On last cycle I was hoping I did everything correct and 💥 YESSSS my 2008 Chevy Tahoe now has a programmed key!!

I watched your video about programming new keys that are cut. At first I was believing that the dealership was my only option and source of getting new keys made for my 2013 chevy tahoe. I was completely wrong. I tried what you showed in this video thinking that it wouldn't work. IT REALLY DOES WORK!!! It saved me over 250 bucks by doing it myself. THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!

This worked for me 100%. My Key broke. I went to a lock smith here in Houston that charged $75 to fix the key since I had the broken part. He fixed the key and then gave me instructions on how to program it with an additional key he gave me. That didn’t work. I went to TH-cam and came across this video. Instead of 3 consecutive 10 minute tries it took me 4, 10 minute tries and it worked. Thank you that it did. It would’ve cost me over $100 for me to call the locksmith to come to me to program the key himself. I’m ecstatic. Oh and my car is a 2009 Chevy impala that I’ve had for 12 yrs.

So glad I came across this channel. I have a 2013 implala ltz and like everyone I needed to take my car to the dealership. The estimated bill was out of control. I found this video and had to take my chances so i order the keys from Amazon four days later it arrived. I took my keys to AutoZone to make copies and I was told I using going to be changed for the copies. I put one key in the ignition and followed the step on the video. I also had my spare and other new key close to it. After all three 10min cycle the car turned on. It was time to do the next and once I put it in it must of been programmed while the first one was being programmed. I tested all three and it worked. It's channel this this that make TH-cam what it is today. Why keep what you know when you can help others. Thank you sir.

This video is when you don't have an existing programmed key. Following the below if you need to program a copy key and already have an existing programmed key:
    1. Insert an existing programmed working key into the ignition cylinder.
    2. Turn ignition to the ON position for 5 seconds, then back to OFF position.
    3. Remove the existing key and within 5 seconds insert new key and turn it to the ON position for 5 seconds.
    4. Turn key OFF then back to ON. The key is now programmed. Start vehicle to test key.
Worked on my 2011 enclave. Thanks Stephanie Mair 1 year ago (comments).

Amazing!! 2011 Chevy HHR that key was lost and had to replace lock cylinder Had 2 different locksmiths tell me their programmers would not communicate with BCM or ECM and I would have to go to dealer. Dealer said $300 minimum and after trying this once HHR fired right up and key is coded. Wow! Thanks a billion

Thank you for this video.. I lost my key. I called a random mobile locksmith, he came out to my car and waisted my time he made my car spark and was not successful at making the chip key for the car. Then I called another guy had to pay $50 bucks b/c he came out to the car. My friend found my lost key so I picked it up.. it no longer worked in my car.. the first locksmith lock the computer. So your video helped me reprogram my key🙏🏼thank you.. also another thing my car did not start once the key was reprogrammed so I need to disconnect the batter to reset the cars computer. Once I did that and reconnected the battery completely the car started right up. Thank you so much!

If you have a working Key it takes about 1 min. I bought a key off amazon for $8 had it cut at a locksmith for $2 and all I did was insert the working key to on without starting it. waited for the initial light check then turned it off and removed the working key, then [within 1 min] inserted the new key to the on pos. This programmed the key. Then it worked from there. $10 instead of $200+

Muhamet Neziri.. didn't even notice this msg but It was my Acura TL, since it is the same family. The Honda I initially was thinking of was my '94 accord but that didn't have a chip that i can recall. It should work for most vehicles that have a chipped key. Which make sense.. you just need the original and to buy the uncut key with the chip because you may not find those keys that have the chip in them in hardware stores. It is possible to program them but it depends on the material of the key and what it is made out of so that it can hold the magnetic charge and program to allow you to start your car. I saw a video where someone copied his broken key from scratch with a gold element (if i am not mistaken) and once everything was done.. he tag the new key in the ignition with the old key by holding them together while he turn the ignition and the engine ignited on.

I know it’s an old video, but still wanted to say thanks!
I was 2200 miles from home for 2+ years, and when I got home, the key had walked away.
Had to get the key from the dealer, and was about to load the car onto a trailer to take it to the dealer and pay $100+ for programming, when I came across this video. Saved me a BUNCH of time and hassle and MONEY!

It works! I just programmed my key transponder for my 2008 Chevy Impala LS. I ordered two from Ebay for $9.95. I took it to Lowe's and had them cut it. The worker cut it for free, saying that they don't have a price for car keys. Just make sure your battery is good or fully charged before doing the process. My battery was low and it died. After I jumped it, I turned the car over with the new programmed key. It turned right over! No problems. Do exactly as instructed in the video. I noticed that after 10 minutes the anti theft lock and key symbol light would turn off. That indicates that a cycle has been completed. And this works with multiple keys. I know this because my original key still works after I programmed the new one. Thank you EliteAutoOutlet10 very much.
