I had a 2002 Ford expedition with Triton engine I keep up with all maintenance always used quality fuel never dogged it .I got 412k out of it before the timing chain guide started going bad it just had a rattle
My 6.0 is going to hit 360,000 miles this weekend on stock head bolts. These bolts are a non issue as long as you keep the stock tune. Also, the EGR, injector, and turbo problems are super avoidable if you just keep up on routine maintenance. Case in point my dinosaur that I drive cross country with no problems.
I just bought today a 2005 F-350 Lariat with only 58,000 miles. It is a true Unicorn. It is still damn near brand new. It is bone stock, and there's not a ding, dent, or scratch in it. There's virtually no wear on the leather seats. I paid $500 to have a diesel shop go through it. Compression, oil pressure, high pressure oil, fuel pressure, etc. are all exactly where they should be. I can't believe this truck even existed. And I got all that for $20,000!! I'm 60 years old, and I will never need another truck. Ever. Yes, I'm going to maintain the crap out of it. And laugh at the idiots who drop $100k on a modern piece of garbage.
I have a 2006 F250 Super Duty with the 6.0 and as noted I lost the head gasket at about 140K. I had it bullet-proofed and it runs like a raped ape now. The bullet-proofing ran me about $7K but that is a lot cheaper than buying a new diesel truck.
@retirednavy8720 yep did the same, caught it before 50k,ford did all the work for free except the head bolts,I bought them because they were after market, put a tuner in it and 4 inch exhaust and that thing was on bad ass machine
Lol. Hilarious. I owned a Ford 5.4. Bought it new. Sold it with 150,000 miles. Zero issues. I currently own a 3.5 eco. 210,000 miles and counting. It’s all in how you maintain your vehicle.
I see a number of people disputing certain engines because they've practiced good maintenance and gotten great life. However, this list agrees with others I've read/listened to in the past. What I hate is when the photo editing goes far astray of the narration like so many AI videos these days. (e.g. showing a Honda Ridgeline when talking about the GM 5.7 diesel or Ford's 2.0 Ecoboost right when saying the first gen 3.5 Ecoboost.)
I have the 4.7lt with 131,000 miles in my ram truck. It doesn't overheat, the Tipm is the problem. (Totally Integrated Power Module) Burping a cooling system on a 4.7lt is a long process. It took me 3 day's to burp my cooling system. A very bad repair shop replaced my water pump cause it was under warranty (that's the only reason I took it to have it replaced.) The repair shop did a shitty job, the new water pump started leaking only a year later. I ended up installing a new water pump. Someone from this bad repair shop also broke the bottom of my plastic fan shroud so they just zipped tied it. I'll never take my truck to that shop ever again. Their so called techs need to go back to mechanic school. I replaced the water pump and that was 4 yrs ago. I had to have the TIPM rebuilt. I had to send it to a rebuilding company in m
My 4.7 in my Durango has served me well at 320,000 with a timing chain change at 285,000. I use one quart of transmission fluid in place of one quart of oil at every oil change Not only this but with all of my vehicles. Never had any oiling issues or a sludge buildup. The man that turned me on to this has been long in his grave. Works wonderfully.
As a 30 plus years as a heavy truck mechanic and most of those years spent in the dealerships I m actually shocked to not see the dreaded MaxForce. I guess it's more of a light truck engine video but ya they couldn't give them away. It sure left International with alot of scars on it's reputation. Anyway cool interesting video. Ty for putting it up 👍🇨🇦🔧
We had a school bus fleet with 100 MaxForce DT motors and lots of trouble. On teardown the cam bearing race oil journals were all misaligned and we thought that greatly contributed to the oiling problems our self-destructing engines all experienced. It was a huge disappointment the fleet experienced on a regular basis and they continue to experience since the District has been unable to fund the fleet replacement schedule we had before I retired a few years ago.
I don't know anything about the 5.4 Triton but the construction company I worked for had a 99 Ford f350 with the Triton V-10. It was a gas guzzler but it didn't lack for power. They drove it for 345,000 miles and some guy bought it and drove it away happy as can be.
Third comment. My 6.4 deleted has 350000 miles, and I never have a run a better pickup engine. First, change your oil at 5000 miles. Dont buy into the bull crap that synthetic runs long its bull. Use high-quality oil. Change it yourself and only use Ford filters or Parker who makes them for Ford. Second, every 10000 change the fuel filters on the frame and in the engine compartment. Always use a fuel supplement like Arch oil or equivalent every fill up. Just tips.
For the ISX motor it’s absolutely thank you for saying all this stuff about it because like 1014+ and stuff is real good motor 855 for good motor but that was the past. This is a future. This is what we got. Thank you for admitting there, nothing nothing but problems, and the order stuff was not absolutelyamazing keep trying to change everything actually someday maybe try changing the wheel the circle wheel try to find something better than that won’t happen, but just keep trying
I had one of those Triton V8's I put about 170,000 miles on it. Never had a problem. I sold it and bought a Ford 3.5 Eco boost. We'll see. I gotta drive sumpin...
My 69 f-100 with a 300 in-line 6 cyl. has been a fantastic engine. It still doesn't burn or leak oil. I use Marvel Mystery Oil at every oil change. That might have helped too. When l bought it the mpg was about 14. My dad gave me a tiny 1 barrel carb from an old 56 f-100 239 in-line 6 cyl. only one vacuum line. I rebuilt and put it on my 69. Now l get close 20 mpg. And l didn't lose any power. It a smooth running engine. The truck has never been wrecked, very little rust even though l would go fishing at the coast alot. It's got power steering, no ac. I been offered up to $9 k for it. Strange but the swb truck almost seems to have become a part of me. Its never left me stranded in the almost 43 yrs. I've had it.
Your wrong again. I have a 2003 6.0 powerstroke. 356,000 miles. I stretched the headbolts at 140,000, after turning it to 600 hp. It had so much power it would scare you. Since turning it back to stock I have had no problems. There are stock 6.0's with a million miles on them.
If you take care of the 6.0 and don't abuse it I have had several people tell me it does a great job, also on the 5.4 the two valve I have been told is a lot better than the three valve
Not if you pull all the time. They do exactly what he said.. as a die hard ford fan this one consistently overheated when pulling. I now have a 6.7 power stroke and so far it’s been great
Had an ‘04 ford 5.4, blew 4 spark plugs out of the heads. One hole twice. When they blow out, they take the coil with it. The plugs were tapered, so they would wear the plug hole in the aluminum head. Ford refused to acknowledge the problem for a number of years. I don’t think they ever recalled the engines.
Even though I'm a GM fan, I admit the 350 Diesel was junk. However a few engines later, this video talks about the GM 5.7 Diesel. Guys, they're the SAME ENGINE.
When they show illustrations, they don't even have the right engine. The Chevy 350 diesel illustration was just a 350 small block. And on and on from there, get it right.
I question the facts shared here. While showing the animation of an internal view of a Ford power stroke diesel engine you can clearly see a spark plug. Also there are other pictures of engines that are not related to what is being talked about.
Mitsubishi and Nissan should stick to their Japanese standards and shouldn't cut corners for quick bucks. They have a lot to learn from Toyota and Honda.
Shoulda gone with a Doggerpillar!! I love it! Dodge tryna keep up with VW! EmissionsGate!!! 5.4 Tritons were also notorious for valve pooching, causing power loss and missfires that were frequently misdiagnosed. Cam phasers are absolute rubbish!! Lovely design for an engine that made mediocre horsepower and terrible torque.
I had a 2014power stroke first series of the DEF Program 20k spent on it last year towed 7times limp mode never again nice truck otherwise itook the hit and dumped it
You lumped the ISX all in one group. The first ISX CF 570 non egr has been a power house. The emissions crap that they had to put on is what ruined the engine. The ISX deleted runs a million miles. Just don't go to California. You need to do better research.
I'm just guessing, like u did with this list, I own from new a 2.7 EB with 290, 000 miles n still beating the hell out of it! It's a 2015 1st generation also. So it all depends on who n when ur maintaining it. If u follow the owners manual to the letter , no problems it's amazing. It's all right there in bold print what n when to do it, n what not to do. Wouldn't ya think that after a hundred plus years of making these things, they could get it right. Want a truck with no issues - buy a Scania or a Volvo.
Hold it off the rev limiter for 10 minutes straight. Then we'll talk. I have a 400k mile 5.3 untouched with regular oil changes. I can literally hold it off the rev limiter at 6k all day. There's a different between a pussy engine that you can't beat on and yes it may run at the end of the day. But I'd take the 400k mile truck like LS 5.3 because I know it won't scatter it's guts everywhere if I decide to shove nitrous or boost in its face. Or have some fun time and do burnouts or lay it on the chip while it shoots fire and melts the cats. Ford's are shit. Only engine somewhat worth giving credit to is the coyote or Ecoboost. Maybe the old 7.3. but think about down the road when you reach 400k miles. Is your triton still gonna be running flawless? Mile 5.3 will still be singing on the rev limiter melting the headers and 4l60s. And you're gonna be doing cam phasers or head replacements.

Was the 350 Chevy diesel for pickups actually the doomed Oldsmobile engine? I believe in the early 80's Chevy came out with a 6.2(? )V8 diesel for pickups that wasn't converted from a gas engine. Not a turbo and had low horsepower inspite of its displacement.

Ford’s 4.2 V6 wasn’t there best effort either, they should’ve stuck w/4.0 V6, it was bullet proof, & they should’ve kept the 300 I6, bullet proof too

Dodge, Stellantis are like politicians, they can't keep promises and are incapable of telling the truth
I am currently driving a 2002 Dodge Ram 4.7 with over 450,000 miles. It has PLENTY of power for a 4.7. It has been a great engine.
The 350 diesel was oldsmobile.
My 84 caprice had one. It was a crapy motor. Parked in in a pasture and now the grandkids use it for target practice...
Own a 2017 ford f150 with 2.7 liter ecoboost with 217,000 never had any issues drives like new great mpg with good hp and torque 😊
We have Gale Banks modified Cummins 6.7. So far? 323,000 trouble free miles on it.
You are lucky. Next time buy a bus ticket and you don't even have to buy insurance or do oil changes !😊
I’m pretty sure the Olds LF9 350 diesel was only available in cars not trucks.
I had a 80 Chevy pickup I bought new,
There's only three truck engines in the US: Caterpillar, Cummins, and Detroit Diesel.
👌👍😄
Yeah so what are you commenting on-education is important for life goldie
@@bradzimmerman3171Sorry your education didn't allow you to understand the question and my reply.
Oh, I forgot Mack - - so four truck engine manufacturers in the U.S.
If John Deere would only build a truck. I have said this for years

My 2007 ford 5.4 ran perfect for 8 years . Never had any issues??
Only diesel engines should have turbos, gasoline engines, especially the small ones can't handle the pressure
Even though I'm a GM fan, I admit the 350 Diesel was junk. However a few engines later, this video talks about the GM 5.7 Diesel. Guys, they're the SAME ENGINE.
We have had internal combustion engines for over 100 years now. You would think they would have worked out the bugs by now!!!!
When they show illustrations, they don't even have the right engine. The Chevy 350 diesel illustration was just a 350 small block. And on and on from there, get it right.
I have a 2007 ford 5.4 3 valve, with 105.000 miles no problems.
Mine was a piece of 💩
I just bought a '98 One owner Ford F 150 with only 76,000 miles and Triton engine. How does this engine rate? Anybody know?
Second comment are you finding a trend that emissions crap has been every manufacturers down fall. Gas or diesel.
I have a Jeep Cherokee 70,000 miles motor blue 2.4
Have a 6.0, bullet proof it and it will go forever! Do some basic maintenance and keep the oil changed and you will love the engine.
I question the facts shared here. While showing the animation of an internal view of a Ford power stroke diesel engine you can clearly see a spark plug. Also there are other pictures of engines that are not related to what is being talked about.
I love watching these lists but have to disagree on the numb1 engine..I have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4 and at 173000 have yet to have any issues
I have a 2010 F150 with a 5.4 V3 with 175k miles with no problems only tune-up with plugs and coil pack @ 125k miles
I never owned one, but why would Dodge produce the same disastrous engine for 14 years?
Most of the Ford 3.5 were actually liter engine that were shown were actually the 2-liter 4-cylinder engines.
GM makes stupid mistakes, by making shortcuts
You mean ripping off their customers.
They all do that nowdays
More Ford engines on this list than any other.
Sorry, but I can't find ANY record of a Dodge 2.2 Diesel, just gas burners
Anything will look good "on paper "
I owned the ford 2.7 eco and it is a very strong engine. This is the first anything I have ever seen that says otherwise
The chrysler 2.2 was a gas engine and domestic not mitsubishi.it went 1981-1994.it powered the k car that saved chrysler.
Mitsubishi and Nissan should stick to their Japanese standards and shouldn't cut corners for quick bucks. They have a lot to learn from Toyota and Honda.
