When you think back to "Your Name"..remember Taki's interview towards the end of the movie?...THIS!.. is what he was talking about...foreshadowing Tokyo's change seen here.
25:34 It is the kid from Your Name ; Taki. This was before the two meet on the stairway. 29:03 And that's the girl Mitsuha. 51:01 And by this time they've met .That's Taki's Granma and in the light-novel that the director wrote for this movie , it says that there's a picture in this room in this scene which shows the two (Taki and Mitsuha) are married now.
I watched this movie in theaters and MY GOODNESS the visuals and audio score just blew me away. That firework scene is probably the single best "WOW"-moment I ever had watching a movie. It's my second favorite Makoto Shinkai movie right behind Your Name too, and I love the little cameos for Taki, Mitsuha, Yotsuha (Mitsuha's sister), Katsuhiko and Sayaka (Mitshuha's friends)! I love the whole message of the movie, no matter how crazy or hard things can get, if you have someone in your live to share the experiences with, everything will be just fine.
From a Japanese perspective, we always feel a bit unsure if the people who express a desire to visit Japan will truly be satisfied with their trip. However, Japan is always welcoming wonderful people like you two. Speaking of anime cityscapes, if you’ve watched "anime real life" videos, you might already know this-many of the landscapes depicted in anime set in Japan often exist in real life. Weathering with You, A Silent Voice, Bocchi the Rock!, and more.
I myself (from UK) have visited a number of real life anime locations...for the animes "Super CUB", "Non Non Biyori", "Bocchi The Rock", "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid", "Mitsuboshi Colors" and "Weathering with You"...I wish I could have done more...but time and money was against me...I visited Japan twice solo last year..Loved it!...Traveled as far south as Kagoshima.
@@Bodneyblue Thank you for the reply! That's amazing! Personally, I worry that people who develop an interest in Japan through anime might set their expectations too high because anime often portrays a more idealized version of reality. That's why I'm glad to hear it turned into an enjoyable trip. I also have many wonderful memories from the UK, so it is one of my favorite countries.
@@deerglx4732 Thank you for the reply! It's a place you can reach from Tokyo in less than two hours by train, but it's quite countryside. Since it's been over 10 years, there have been changes, but even now, it seems like the characters from Anohana are featured on manhole covers, buses, trains, and more. If you ever get the chance to visit, I hope it will be a memorable experience.
Hey I actually just recently watched this film so this is a delightful surprise. The music in this film by Radwimps are such bangers. Great Escape??? It's funny that I've also watched Your Name, A Silent Voice, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, and Weathering with You, in that order as well.
Yes!...real bridge..its called The Rainbow Bridge and it also carries the Yurikamome Rail Line on the circular part you see. I traveled on it a number of times when I stayed in Japan. I stayed in Ariake for a concert at Tokyo Garden Theater.
Anime movies are always the first recommended material when I want to introduce anime to new audiences. They’re easier to digest and fall in love with as compared to a 12-24 episode series. I always love to recommend movies by Makoto Shinkai and Ghibli movies. If you want to dive further into Ghibli, I always recommend Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, so can’t wait to see your reactions to them!
Yea prez you re the dude Is taki from your name , the studio Is the same who produced your name and they made him and mitsua have a cameo in this one too
There was a little detail in official novel of Weathering with you. When he came to grandma at the end, they teased about fate of Taki and Mitsuha, there was a wedding photo of them :D
This is a pleasant surprise! I can't wait to dive into this reaction. All of Makoto Shinkai's films are GEMS. I hope you two dive into some more! I believe you two would love Mamoru hosoda's movies also.
Anime...like everything in life... is subjective..So not everyone see's the same things in the same way...Like music..what genre one person likes..another doesn't...Same for everything.
@@BodneyblueI was confused about the poll results because Spirited Away is objectively a more popular movie and is established as one of the greatest anime films ever made. I think WWY may have won the poll coz they reacted to Your Name already, and this is a spiritual sequal to that. And I think every reaction channel is like its own bubble or community, and this channel tend to watch more romance centred stuff, so the audience is also of that particular nature.

Suzume is also a nice one.
Yes that's taki from your name and the girl who was the cashier at the ring shop was mitsuha you missed her guys 😢
@@ironic_edits-rg5jm on that feel, it seems. I agree.
They missed mitsuha too😂
... even though she was wearing her red ribbon.
At 25:37 you are actually right that is the guy from Your Name it is a cameo/reference showing that it is the same world.
And Mitsuha is there at 29:02 ! IIRC, in the WWY book there is a picture of their wedding in the grandma's house.
and one of the girl who looks out from the classroom at the sky is Mitsuha's sister
@@GRR1MN1R can you mention the timestamp?
