Every time I watch a splash mountain POV, at the big drop I am like "wow, no biggie. This is easy." Then when I went on it I almost cried haha. 😭😂 Amazing ride though.
@@PlutoniumSlums Yep It’s pretty scary, but once you actually see it it is fine my advice is to just get yourself on the ride. The worst thing that can happen is that you wont like it but i think you will its a fun ride i just rode it today

Yeah, that boat was really racing along. I think part of the refurbishment included them speeding up the water flow so they can push more boats and people through per hour. That ride never used to move that quickly... :( Well, it's still nice to see that they haven't torn it out to replace it like they were threatening to do. :)

@@davidmehnert6206 Princes & the Frong definitely deserves its OWN attraction, just as much as Splash Mountain needs to stay. I understand there are space issues, but a P&F themed restaurant in New Orleans Square would be PERFECT, especially if it's as immersive as the Blue Bayou.
I've never ridden this ride before so seeing these ride POV videos really helps me get an idea of what to expect. How bad is the big drop? Is it no big deal?
Its nothing for me, just try not to think about it because i was scared to also either sit in 2nd seat or second to last seat because those barely get wet unless you want to get soaked
It’s a steeper angle than the drop in Florida. Not a straight 90 degrees, but I think between 60 and 75. The drop in the dark is supposedly just as big as the iconic outdoor drop.
The last time I visited Disneyland was in 1980 - nine years before Splash Mountain was built. Thanks to HD smartphone cameras and TH-cam, I almost feel like I've been on the ride!

I noticed they raised the sides up cause they didn’t hide the cement line very well, the water for sure is moving faster, it looked like they added a stop arm just before they go into the last scene which I don’t think was there before, it sounds like they changed the lyrics to the last song and they took out the chain system that used to pull the logs up the hill in favour of a more conveyor belt like system. If i am wrong on any of these things i am sure someone will correct me.
Unfortunately have been unable to get a chance to return to Disneyland as my bigger family and I have been unable to get a reservation as a group and my friend who works there already used his passes on his grandparents, but we are working on a window when we can use them to get in but this reservation system in not helpful for big groups as for the ride anyone else found ii more fun that the gate at the first drop does not stop you anymore, and it becomes more of a launch drop now

Ikr I went on Christmas of 2019 and I didn’t go on because it was raining. Went February 28th this year and it was closed. I was so upset because I thought I wouldn’t be able to go on before it’s changed but thankfully I’m going two mondays from now. Hopefully it’s open this time.

When i was a kid i wasn't unable to ride splash mountain. Thankfully February this year, now as a adult was able to finally ride and see why is a good classic ride. Loved it. Checked out on my bucket list😎😁👍

I must be a bit behind, but had they decided to 86 the destruction of Splash Mountain to convert to a Princess and the Frog ride? Seems they wouldn't spend the funds to refurb Splash if they were going to go ahead with the conversion.

Nope. Disney Parks announced a few weeks ago a Late 2024 release. They don't only do refurbs to make it look nicer (Obviously it doesn't and half the animatronics are broken), but also to assure the ride is safe and in top working order.
I got a question if and only if you know or predict, but with Tiana’s bayou adventure to open in late 2024, how much longer do you think there is to ride splash mountain before it’s gone? I was wondering because I was planning on going to Disneyland in September as I’d hope it’s at least still there then so I can ride it a last time before it’s gone
The ride is just getting rethemed they could keep the ride if they wanted to but Princess and the frog decor and such… if they decide to. This ride is tied to something that is racist so good for Disney wanting to change the theme but maybe keep the ride :)

I can almost smell the chlorine. I can remember when Disney started cutting back. The lights were dimmer and the a/c was warmer a Then there’s now…………..$70 dollars gets you a few chicken pieces, And a bunch of sauce decorations on the plate. I’m considering bringing lunches in a backpack.
Definitely. For me, I just go on wether I like it or not, I try not to let my fear stop me. I’ve been going on since I was a toddler basically and even back then I was braver than I am now. You just gotta do it or you’ll miss out on an awesome ride.

Why would they go thru a big refurbishment if the plan is Princess and the Frog? I think that plan is not happening for quite some time.
I think it’s just a routine refurbishment idk why but I feel like splash is always down so I it’s a toss up whenever I visit

They refurbish it every 1 to 2 years during the winter, just fixing any mechanical issues and small things. That’s why it was only closed for a month.

I was pregnant when we went in 2019, then COVID happened, then when we went two months ago it was closed. What was different after refurb?
It's a annual winter refurbishment, they do this every year cuz its a water ride and it needs maintenance yearly
I love seeing the old characters from "America Sings" in this ride. I hope they'll be incorporated into the "Princess and the Frog" refurb.
