I love watching as you get these vehicles running again. There is something very therapeutic about it all. It also gives me hope to complete my 88 Jetta restoration.
After 2 years (petrol), 3 years (old type diesel fuel) and 6 months (fuel with biodiesel additives) from production it is not suitable for the engine. If it was badly stored it is often not even flammable.
That didn’t take long to start as I’ve expected after 15 years of sitting!! This is so satisfying watching this!! Incredible engine especially if it’s Diesel!!
This 1.9 TDI engine was built for eternity. However, the chassis of this Passat was not - thanks to VW's inglorious Lopez period, which made this B4 a lemon compared to its well-built predecessor B3
My b4 has 380.000km engine original turbo original clutch original gearbox original the car has no rust this b4 chassi in my case is not an lemon exepct its garbage door locks and handles power vacumm door locks.
My '94 only has 2 coin sized rust holes fixed. It's only now starting to bubble a few places close to glass and wheels. I'd say that's a success for 500k km on roads that are salted 4 months every year

Yes, at 20:51 he shows us the meter reads 11.8V and that is not good. Charging voltage should be 13.5V - 14.2V ideally. Alternator or charging circuitry has failed.

За всё время владения, с 115.000км. до 350.000км. единожды поменял: корзину сцепления,тросик от коробки переключения передач+кулису и противотуманные фары.Всё. Масло,фильтра каждые 10.000. По кузову ни малейшей ржавчины за всё время.
Я в год назад взял достойную бору , 2000г.в. 1.6 16 кл. правда, не тянет к дизелю- звук не тот, я не спорю 1.9 сила, но не с моими пробегами, был до немца 206 француз 1.4 , 7 лет отъездил 110.000 пробега, мне экономия ни к чему. После его продажи решил взять старого немца, прост в ремонте, хотя запчасти не дешовые, классный аппарат, доволен, хотя многие варианты уже убиты, но я нашёл не заезженный, дорого правда 4.800, но это мой выбор, хозяин не уступал в цене, поменял сцепление, пружины перед, диски , колодки перед, компенсаторы, хотя и не перестали стучать, но после минуты прогрева умолкают, как и старые, но в целом машина мне нравится. Раньше машины создавали инженеры, а сейчас маркетологи, жаль, что эти машины рано или поздно умрут
The b4 is so fcking durable. Mine has around 200k kilometers and is still doing fine. And that despite it being used just for hauling stuff for some time, where it didn't receive much maintenence. Sure it doesn't pass the TÜV (vehicle checkup) with flying colours, but the engine never dies
B4's, B3's are cool cars. I've had a few. Both were fully built all-motor. One AAA 12v vr6 and the 9A 2.0l 16v. Both manual of course and my mom owned a vr B4 as well. I would keep that thing, throw on some decent wheels/ tires, coilovers, definitely some h.d., poly, deleon, or aluminum engine/ trans mounts. Therea tons of vendors and choices for these. Corrado trans mount is a cheap OEM upgrade even. Would be super cool to throw in a built 1.9 ALH swap along with the Associated TDI tall 5th gear and a Quaife or Peloquin LSD and that wagon would be a hell of a sleeper!!! the car looks clean and relatively fresh. the rims are not as rusty as they might be in wet ground. I'm not sure, but I get the impression that the car is quite on the move and working. and she stood without movement for not such a long time

It's a Vw 1.9 Tdi never kill these engine's as long as you looked after them. Seen them parked up left for year's boddy hanging of them and they still start. Only things that ever go wrong cams. Seen folks use the engine's in T3 conventions for a bit more more power as the 1.6 just don't cut it . Nice one 👍

I served my time on these engines. A none return valve was a must on the fuel line. Also there is a product called 44K add it to the fuel tank. G12 plus is the correct coolant. (Pink)
I have a Audi A6 C5 2004 for 6 years with the diesel engine 1.9TDI 96 kW PD and it just goes, with regular oil+filter changes it's 100% reliable whatsoever
ABS light is on.. that's a classic ;) oh the memories of this stupid light going on all the time. Sometimes restarting the engine did the trick...mostly,though...it didn't. Solution was to buy a new abs sensor and then lots of hope this issue would not reoccur for just a couple of months. Loved the car. My dad drove one of these.

I have 1Z golf Iii gt nad injectors 0.230 = 130KM/320Nm ori. turbo. And passat b5 AFN 0.230 = 160KM/350Nm. Old TDI is better 460k Km and no remont engine

@@dubstipx LOL, europe oil is not more than 10€ liter, liquimolly,castrol,motul or valvoline. And the noise is not the oil, is because it need to replace the lifters, very common on this engines.

@@MaksimZhuchenko 35 лет за рулем, много было разных и свежих и новых машин. Сейчасна б4 сел , год катаю , 45 тсяч накрутил. Довел до ума , если руки нормальные , то это очень не дорого. Радуюсь жизни , деньги уходят только на бензин. Что Есть в новой машине , чего у меня нет
