It's like, "Hey kids! Check this out."
I agree. Moments like that help you connect with a character as weird as that might sound. The viewers are meant to enjoy a moment like that, so when the hero enjoys it too, it's like you get to share the moment with the character, you're there with them in a way.

I think why Blade didn't cry is a normal thing. I mean, he was raised without parents by a gunslinger that hunt vampires. He also was different from everyone else so that I could imagine how his childhood like. I find that person like this kind of hard to express his condolence.

The introduction of Blade was so visually perfect. Where all the standard vampires are filthy Blade is clean, so god damned clean. They're very animated "dancing" but Blade's movements are all very precise. The contrast is stark and always stuck with me.

You know what I find super weird? Not only do the male and female lead not get together at the end of the film, but that they're two BLACK main leads, and the only two back characters besides Blade's mother, and they STILL don't hook up. That's some major 90's Hollywood rule breaking right there.
Fun fact, they were supposed to have a sex scene but it just didn’t jive with the film.

First off , people can be sexist both ways. Men are said to have to be strong and muscular and do sports etc. While women are said to be gentle creatures who are subservient to men and who must beautiful etc.
These are could be considered the broadest of the sexist/ Sterotypes
Both are sexist comments but the male one merely is accepted in society. People can still be sexist toward other genders, not just female.
Second, what will fighting in a youtube comment section under a joke do for either argument?
Three: I love both strong male and female characters, which many strong female characters are being shown the light many times now.

Rewatched this recently and it's still an impressive movie. I think it's One of the best action movies of the 90s.

Remember everyone, this was the film that resurrected Marvel and the comic book genre. Without Blade there is no Iron Man, there is no Dark Knight, and there is no Catwoman, okay the first two make up for the third.
Geoffrey Sorkin x-men and spiderman kinda did that. Tho blade has its place.
Blade came out in '98, and X-Men & Spiderman came out in 2001 and 2002 respectively

i think the "ice skating up hill" line was supposed to mean that Blade is at the top of the food chain, so its stupid for inferior creature to try and reach him. It would be outside of his character type, but thats the only logical reason i can find for the line.
Especially due to the fact they drained most of his blood to become "Gods" using HIS blood because it was special.

And only communicating with the director via post-it notes.. I can't even imagine what it would be like to work with someone like that. I'm sure him and Ryan Reynolds are still best buddies...

@@touofthehighplains To be fair... he wasn't just being a drama queen. The first two movies were awesome. He had input for the action scenes, worked with choreography and everything. They listened his input, as well as the other actors, and it was a big group project. You can tell there was a team behind it. By the time Trinity hit, Blade was too much of a beast to really be challenged. I mean first movie, he killed a god. Second he took out a super vampire. So that was like "let's do Dracula". He was a bit against that, but went with it. Then they started scripting the action scenes without him, ignoring his input and everything. Let's not forget that they were trying to shoehorn in a multitude of characters to see how many spinoffs they could generate. Patton seems like a decent enough guy. By all means, seems no one has had anything bad to say about him, but he leaves out what led up to Snipes' craziness.
The movie was gonna be garbage because they were shifting away from Blade and a more serious tone. You gotta admit, Ryan's humor was grating with the tone of the movie. They killed off Whistler... AGAIN, just to bring in someone and we get a line about her being his daughter. She could've just as well been some rando since there's no connection at all. They even forced HHH in there trying to ride the wave that The Rock created. It was treated like a vehicle for so many up and comers instead of an epic we should've gotten. So he was like "Fuck it". The tone has shifted to trying to blame him, but it was a very different narrative at first, with many saying he was trying to get fired so he still get paid.
.....I do hate that we didn't get the alternate story though. Where Frost wins and it becomes an apocalyptic world, ending with him gaining some power or weapon to finally kill him at the end of the trilogy. Would've been awesome!
Blade's closing line about ice skating uphill is actually amazingly clever, here's why. Think about every awesome movie quote. If you were ever in that situation, you could never come up with a sick quote, you could only think "Damn I had something for this" and you'd come up with something ridiculous and completely off the wall. Blade's line is amazing because it's relatable.

Also the "unnecessary" love interest was added as a way to shock you with the bite. That's why in the actual film the scene is long boring and drawn out for contrast. Was this the best idea? Not really but the first time you saw it don't tell me you weren't surprised.
The "blown up news paper factory" is to emulate the comics which came out in a time that New York didn't look a whole lot better than the movie shows.
Who would've thought Blade would be apart of the MCU now, the MCU is full of surprises!
Vision Bricks now that we have “access” to the multiverse, making any kind of movie fit in the overall MCU is easy.
Not everything has to be inside earth 616 anymore. Dr.Strange and Wanda’s movement throughout the multiverse can even open up a (hopefully) separate X-Men universe; just to keep the larger story more manageable than the comics. You can ignore characters existing in the comics, but trying to explain why the movie Avengers don’t help against freaking vampires would be a tough sell.

Bad things happen all the time yet The Avengers even having Wolverine in the team don't give a s**h at all. Or look at Daredevil too. The nerd rage I have for people who say that Black Panther is the first superhero film with a black protagonist. I know that Marvel didn't really promote this movie, but how is Blade this overlooked? So many people have seen it, but fail to understand its importance. I'm not saying Black Panther isn't an important film. It is, but not necessarily for the reasons some people think.

As a Marvel fan, I would rather just enjoy the films for what they are, all I'm saying is that if people are going to hype a film for what they feel it represents, they should at least do so with the knowledge that other films have made similar and earlier achievements.

Even just Snipes alone. He’s the iconic Blade, way more than Cage is the iconic Ghostrider. I can see Ghostrider as someone else easily, but Blade will always be Westley Snipes.

At the club... It's supposed to be a "Blood Rain." In the Bible, one of the signs of Judgement Day is blood raining from the sky. It's symbolic. And a foreshadowing of things to come. What Frost's sinister plan is.

In most movies, that's just how things lie: They may have been written to be symbolic, ominous symbols for things to come... But unless they're properly announced/displayed, they just seem like coincidences that accidentally seemed intentional.
It's the movie equivalent of slopping an eight ball into an unintentional pocket on the last move of billiards: accidents lose you the game.

3.And that is exactly why the scene with his mother isn't "boring filler" - it's meant to prove his point that vampires are morally deprived

I was under the impression that Blade rejecting the cure at the end was his "arc," so to speak, coming to terms with what he was as human-vamp hybrid. Kinda silly, but it worked enough.

That little plastic bat was actually an accessory in the Marvel Toy Biz Spider-Man vampire Wars line from just a few years before Blade came out, which made it more surreal. That bat came with the Morbius and Blade figures.

In the past few years, Blade has finally been given its due as a terrific comic book/action film, and it is clearly the template for all future films in the Marvel universe. The CGI is dated, but this is a better film than many of the Marvel films in the past 5-7 years. Wesley Snipes is also a far more convincing superhero than 99 percent of the actors who have played a Marvel comics character.

Its not called a zombie, its a ghoul...kind of like a zombie, but not. Ghouls in vampire lore are explained differently in different places, but essentially they are the state between a vampire and a human. It requires more than just being bitten to become a vampire, just being bitten makes you a ghoul. For example, in one fictional universes lore the infected human must drink vampire blood to complete the transformation, if not they become a ghoul. Often ghoul's lack intelligence and free will, not being ruled by an overwhelming need for brains, but by the vampire that bit them, like an undead slave. In other lore, ghouls can be minions summoned by necromancy, most often from the corpses of victims of the vampire. I will say though, that the blade movies play really fast and loose with vampire mythos and even its own mythos making it hard to get a read on what things are and how they really are meant to work.

In Vampire: The Masquerade and Requiem, Ghouls are created just by directly drinking the Vampire's blood if you're mortal but if you're a Vampire already, then you become blood bonded to the Vampire you drank your blood to especially if you drink their blood three times.

I remember Skulduggery Pleasant had that whole Ghoul thing, except they were called "Infected" in those books. In that case, Humans bitten by a vampire enter a mindless zombie-like state in which they are completely obedient to the vampire that bit them for 2 days, and then they properly transform.

There is no much blood in V for Vendetta really, it is hardly 'R'.
Allow me to bring up the point in five words "That was a comic book?"
From memory it was (M)15+ but, if it was R rated it definitely didn't deserve it, considering they cut a majority of the disturbing stuff out, for example, in the intro when Evey goes for her walk after curfew she originally tries to whore herself to some undercover cops, mind you in the graphic novel she was fifteen years of age... to add to it though the cops begin to try and rape her before V comes to her rescue, another example is the doll burning scene between V and a man named Lewis who had a hand in the concentration camp, after which V brainwashes him to dress like a doll and talk like a baby, there are plenty more but those are two off the top of my head, lets also not forget the film only covers the first half of the novel with other part from further along in the story stiched in, we didn't even get to see Evey take on the personality of V to continue his Idea and philosophy, I just wish the film was never made.

"Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill." is Blade's way of saying "Some idiots are always trying to do things the most difficult way possible for very little reward, while thinking they are being awesome." It's actually a fairly accurate summary of Frost's plan, because he was basically attempting to make himself more powerful, in a very convoluted way, yet not only was the power gain not worth the effort, but it was very easy to knock his feet out from under him and completely fuck up all his efforts. Ancient prophecies are never a good guide to the future because you can't control all the variables, and they are vague as fuck, so they not only don't take into account scientific advancement, but they are incredibly easy to misinterpret, if even one thing is missed in the research, and how can you know for sure you haven't missed something?
While Deadpool isn't the first R-rated comic book movie, it certainly is the first R-rated superhero movie in a long time - especially in this new era where literally everyone is afraid of the R-rating for fear of shrinking their market even a little bit. Even horror movies aim for PG-13 to ensure they can reach broader demographics.
For Deadpool to come out brandishing that red banner and say "Fuck you, we know the demographic we want to please" it's just refreshing and ballsy. I'm not even a big Deadpool fan, but that just really impresses me.
That why audiences are going now to the Japanese Horror more now than in the past, apart that they are a thousand times much better.
Uhhhhhh Watchmen and V For Vendetta were both R- rated
Watchmen came out in 2009.That is about years before Deadpool.
And I would hardly count V for Vendetta as a superhero movie but even if you did it came out in 2005 about a decade before Deadpool.

Blade 2 was a pretty decent movie. More focus on horror than the first. Blade: Trinity was an abortion of a movie. Seriously, I love Dominic Purcell (Heatwave on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow) but casting him as Dracula was a profoundly stupid move.
Parker Posey was gratingly awful, and Triple H just showed why he should stick to being a wrestler.
I want him to do Blade 2 but oh god ... not Blade Trinity , that was a horrible movie.
