Is it possible to beat Super Mario 64 with a Guitar Hero controller? In this challenge video, we will find out just that as we try to get 70 stars and beat Super Mario 64 with the guitar controller! Hope you guys enjoy this one and if you're interested in me doing some more, let me know! :D

Yeah that’s a strategy that real Guitar hero players use to hit strum notes that are hidden inside two hand tapping sections. It’s honestly really impressive that you beat the game using a guitar without a built in analog stick.

I'm so glad you did this challenge man! You along with Swankybox actually inspired me to beat this with a guitar hero controller after seeing your guys' challenges. You nailed some strats way better than I did, and I gotta give you credit. It took me multiple days to do this, and you did it in 4 hours.
A tip I do have for you: if you grab bowser and then slowly strum up and down and then gradually get faster to max flicker speed, you can get a super good spin on bowser, you don't have to worry about the left and right parts.

someone should make a song in guitar hero out of all the notes he played, wonder what that would sound like
I actually tried this with a few games a few years ago and the most successful kind of games for me were racing games out of all genres I tried.
Tetra: uhh this is so hard!

Me: laughs in 4 star lead guitar score of soulless 2, 3, 4 and 5 :)
*Laughs in owning an actual guitar and was never played a guitar hero game before.*

I personally would have had strumming be Jump and Crouch respectively with whammy as punch, I see that as more satisfying, if not as challenging

4:32 one time, on the Wii U virtual console, I got the "under 21 sec" star, with a time of 0'21"1
Two other challenges I can think of to make it more fun (and difficult)-
1. Beat Super Mario 64 using a Theremin as the controller. (since there are no physical inputs involved its harder than it sounds).
2. Complete the game doing a No damage run, 120 stars, Blindfolded with the sound muted, with the green demon 1-up challenge, using the Guitar Hero guitar....but playing it with your FEET instead of your hands, without mario's cap, and doing a Speedrun on top of all of that. Good Luck, and may god have mercy on your soul....
If you can pull off both of these challenges then I congratulate you.

As impressive as the achievement is, half this video is just "I did this star and then that star". For this kind of run where the game is definitely beatable, maybe you'd need to change the format a bit, though I don't know how. Maybe something like CeaveGaming's challenge run format, where you would skip or briefly list easy levels, and only go in detail for stuff you struggled with?
This is not hate, I love your content and even kinda enjoyed this video - kinda.

Watched mario speedruns for ages so when I got all stars I tried cannon less without the set up. Just ran up and off the plank and got it first time 😂 wish the switch recorded all gameplay like the PS4 for occasions like that

I have never in my life ever gotten the second star in peach's slide legitimately. I've always had to jump off to the left just after you exit the brick portion at the beginning of the slide, landing on the slide below to be able to make it under 21 seconds to get the star.
