Is it possible to beat Super Mario 64 with a Mario Kart Racing Wheel? In this challenge video, we will find out just that as we try to get 70 stars and beat Super Mario 64 with a Mario Kart Racing Wheel Pro Deluxe! This was legit how I use to play Mario Party 3 with my siblings. I have 3 siblings and we only owned 2 controllers and a racing wheel for the N64 so when we we wanted to play 3 players someone had to use the racing wheel and we just got use to it.

I did that before, but it was at least a decade or so ago. You'll get stuck at DDD.

the slide actually works with the wheel, due to the fact of how it controls. up (go pedal) makes you speed up, back (stop/slow pedal) makes you slow down, and the steering makes you turn.

You've done it with a drum set, so how about with a musical keyboard? Admittedly, I don't know if there's a way to set it up as a controller in the first place, but if there is, it could be pretty amusing. I'm guessing it would be on the easy side, since you'd have more than enough "buttons" to work with, but then again, I don't know.

I'm currently routing the game with a three-button mouse and I'm at 8 stars.
Please wish me luck. I don't recommend trying to do this challenge.
For anyone wondering my control setup:
Mouse movement for the joystick, left click for A, right-click for Z, middle click for B, and scroll wheel for C → and ←.
Start, C ↑ and C ↓ are mapped to my keyboard.

you could mod or rom hack it to make the pedal whatever direction mario is facing and make the steering wheel spin the control stick clockwise or counterclockwise
I've been watching your challenge videos a lot lately and it even inspired me to try my own challenge where I try to beat Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast with a Genesis controller
Yesterday i saw this wheel in the electronic store and i instantly knew a challenge video was coming
I think I've only ever got that hot log rollin' star the regular way like once. I always just use the flight cap to get there
I think an Atari controller is In order.

I played Crash Team Racing PS1 with an Logitech G29 Wheel, it was fun and a bit hard.
There's another option to get Bowser moving, you can pick him up and throw him without spinning him.
This will take longer but in theory it only takes one attempt.

You should try using 2 joysticks (which gives you full control of all buttons required only...seperated by 2 joysticks xD)

Edit: in all of the video you can see the lower poly model for a few milliseconds

I had little doubt you could beat this before you even watched it, although Bowser tosses gave me pause. IMHO, controllers aren't very interesting because how possible the game's objectives are hasn't changed, just how well they can be done. And to simply beat SM64 at all doesn't require many difficult inputs.
