    I've had mine for a month nearly, only 300 Miles in. Coming from a classic bike background, I thought this would scare the shit out of me, but I must say the rider experience is as near perfect as possible. Yamaha have excelled in producing a bike for all occasions here. So light and easy in town, civilised and confident when it needs to be. It's a benchmark design for an everyman's bike, it's that good, the sort of thing the old air-cooled British twins were, but for the modern age, (And traffic). Bravo Yamaha!

    Took the 2021 MT-09 on a demo yesterday. She is sooooo much fun and didn't want to give her back. If you're looking at the MT-07, then stop and really consider the MT-09. Agree with everything you said in the review. Such a fun, nimble and easy-going bike. Then HIT THAT POWER BAND and she transforms into a hell beast and can be so much fun.

      Exactly, I am at this point, you get so much more for that extra 1500. I really like the sound of the MT-09 as well, but don't like the sound of the MT-07. So I would need to get a street legal Akrapovic on it, and MT-07 is the same price as MT-09 (no, I don't want an illegal system and flash, too loud bikes are stupid). But now I have a bike with 0 electronic aids, less power, worse suspension, worse frame, worse brakes, snappy throttle response, no IMU, no drive modes, no Lift control. Why would I want the MT-07, when the MT-09 exist for this price?

    Thanks for a very measured review. I’m impressed with the new MT-09; the previous bike was far too tall at the front, almost chopper-esque. Sounds like a great naked roadster for the money, I must admit. Hope the finish is better than on my previous Thunderace! However.....could I live with those looks? And would a near mint Tuono V4 really hit the magic mark? Guess I’ll find out within the next 4 weeks.

    Thanks to all you stars that makes us choosing a bike with confidence with first ride reviews like this. Being a BMW 800gs owner and fan, I just bought the new MT09, collecting it some time this coming week (thanks about 20+ reviews). I understand, according to the dealership, I will be the first and only one in South Africa that currently will own the new MT09, the only one currently in SA. I believe the stock problem was due to the cargo ship that got stuck in the Suez Chanel. Can wait to take it for a spin and out on the road.

    • @EddieSetGo

  • @chrisdc2506
    @chrisdc2506 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m researching this bike for my daily commute. After coming from a stop at a gas station, around 6:06 of your video, you were revving the engine at low speed. Would you mind sharing why you had to do that? Was the bike stalling from a stop or at low speeds?

    • @EddieSetGo
      @EddieSetGo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris, thanks for your comment. I tend to 'blip' the revs out of habit. My Dad always did it driving cars, riding bikes. He used to rally a lot and think he got the habit from him. Just to spin the engine up and feel what it's doing as I engage the clutch. So it's habit really more than anything :) There's no risk of stalling the MT by the way in low revs.

  • @corbinroberts949

    I did a demo ride on the MT-09 and MT-10 back to back about a month ago. The MT-09 had a lot of vibration on the foot pegs. The MT-10 did not.
    Overall, I enjoyed the engine on the MT-10 more. I was more impressed with it. Not so impressed with the MT-09. I would rather have the MT-10.

      In what sense? If you’re referring to looks, I must say that I’ve spent a total of zero time looking at a bike while riding it. Things I do notice while riding might include a quick shifter, less weight, lighter wheels, a stiffer frame, better suspension, more power, a better user interface and riding modes...
