    I just came across a '22 at a dealer at a solid discount... came from struggling around on a TW200 after selling my Ninja 650 and missing the ability to ride out to good roads. I absolutely love it. I'm dealing with the wind on the interstate because it keeps me humble and below 80mph, and the roads in SE Missouri are what this thing is built for. I wish it had a helmet lock because it doubles as a great city commuter lol. When I rode it off the showroom floor it was set up in D-mode 4 and I thought it had so much power, and then I read the owner's manual and holy crap, I don't think I'll ever need more power than this. It's only been a week and I've already racked up 2k miles and seen more of the countryside than ever before and it's been the best experience riding I've ever had. What an amazing machine. Your video has really only reaffirmed what I've been thinking since I bought it.

      I’m ordering a 2024 version, from the specs and looks of it, it looks like a more modern version of my Honda 919 I had when I was in my early 20’s. I can’t wait to get it!

    Great work and really interesting real life long term review, only had my 2021 MT09 for three weeks and 350 miles. Agree with all the points you made, and your comment about the fuel gauge made me chuckle.....mine shows full until 80 something miles then 25 miles later shows reserve 😄 but as you say it's a great bike. Miss the 2005 FZ1 I traded for the 15 Fj-09. The seat was a plank though. After shattering my ankle (not on bike) sold the FJ. Now having withdrawls after riding 24 years. I was just at the dealership. They only have the grey ones in the 2023 model which is about $600 dollars cheaper for the exact same bike compared to the 2024 model. I really like the Yama racing blue theme though so I think I’ll suck it up and take the 2024 model. The MT07 is heaps of fun. It’s a great bike to both start and finish on. You really don’t need any more than that.

    I have a 2015 MT09. I have to admit that the jerky throtle is throw me off. It's really like everyone describe being like a switch, on and off. But put it into mode B, or what they said the "rain mode", make the bike a little bit smoother. The A mode is very dangerous, especially on wet road. Considering the first gen don't have traction control.

I'm still on the 07 ,.. which is also very good and fun,.. and even easier , ..but the 09 is another level, no doubt ,.. and really impressed ,.. 5 months ,.. 10 thousand miles ,.. that is, more or less what I've done on the 07 in 2 years ,.. . currently with 13,000 kms ,.. let's see if one day I can go up in the category and it would certainly be another (mt ) in the case, the new mt 09 ,..I love all the mods and improvements in relation to the previous model, it's practically a brand new motorcycle,.. and very well made !!!

    Great review pal . Have mine now since start of May and have 5k miles up on her including a trip to southern France from Ireland. Little screen on the front turns the bike into a bearable highway machine for extended runs. Also i dumped the S22's after 5 (yes 5) rear punctures in 4k miles don't know if i was unlucky or the tyre is too soft for road riding but now have pilot roads on for 1k miles and zero punctures thus far.

      @Jonathan so I've read a lot of people mentioning getting punctures on these bikes tyres. I've also got a rear tire puncture. I was thinking I was just unlucky but now I'm not sure. I check my air pressure once a week. I have started putting more air into them then I normally would. Luckily it was a skinny nail near the middle & I had it patched from the inside. 🍻

The enginge starts to run rough on continuous hold of the throttel when you had a milage over 10.000 miles. Thanks for such an informative and real world review! Obviously you didn’t go for the SP version and so I’m assuming the standard MT09 is absolutely fine for most riders and the extra fancy suspension isn’t necessary in most riding situations? Thanks again👍

    • @blakehutslar23
      @blakehutslar23  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the street the sp suspension would be a nice to have but definitely not a necessity. The mt09 is already very flickable with the wide handlebars and I haven't felt it get unsettled in any tight corners even with the pegs scraping. Sp suspension would definitely help when at the limit but for street riding within reasonable limits the base suspension is completely fine.

      if you give it like a millimeter of twist on the throttle to take off from a stop (or even with the clutch in) it'll try to die. Has only really happened 4 or 5 times to me though. I've just been driving around it up till now. Haven't had any issues above idle yet

  • @newbierides
    @newbierides ปีที่แล้ว

    You mentioned first gear engine braking is pretty hard. Does it feel smooth at taking off and ridding at slow speeds? I ride an MT07, I love the bike it is fun. But it feels like every time I get off a stop it can't be ridden slow or chill. It needs to go fast from one stop to the other, which for an everyday commute it gets kinda tiring. I am looking into the CB650R for the inline four, that supposedly has smoother low end since the power is more on the higher revs. But I have always wanted an MT09 and would love to have the extra power, but I am just afraid that it will feel like the MT07 that is always asking for it to be ridden hard at low speeds, can't just take off smoothly at a decent speed.

    • @blakehutslar23
      @blakehutslar23  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't really get wild until you get over 5,000 rpm, I don't have footage of it but I've been in stop and go traffic and been through extremely tight city streets and its fine. Honestly it feels really good right at idle speed in first and it's so well balanced that you can basically be stopped without having to put a foot down. If you don't ring it out going from stoplight to stoplight and stay below the powerband (~5,000) it's pretty smooth but still torquey

    Does the handle bar twitch when you go over 80? Seems like that's the problem of all the naked bike 😞 what you recommend for interstate riding?

    • @blakehutslar23
      @blakehutslar23  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doesn't necessarily twitch, it's definitely not something you'd want to ride at 80 on the interstate very long though. The front end does feel pretty light No wind protection starts getting to you after a while. Honestly might be kinda unpopular opinion but for pure interstate without top speed in mind you can't really go wrong with a fully dressed bagger or something like a goldwing. Basically the couches of the interstate lol

If you're gonna be riding it to Texas from Rogers I'd definitely get some commuter tires on it, a lot of people like the Michelin Road 5's. The stock tires are awesome but they don't last super long. Are you gonna be riding the interstate all the way down there? If so, have you ridden a naked bike for long periods on the interstate? Even with a windshield I feel like it wouldn't be a very enjoyable ride lol. I did a 40 minute stint of interstate once and that was about all I wanted to do but I also don't have a windscreen.

      I actually kinda enjoy the way that the power band is, it helps it not be super touchy when riding in town and when you're on a good road you don't really even notice it if you're in the right gear. Plus it's a cool sensation if you do give it the beans at a lower rpm, feels like you're jumping to light speed. For the most part first gear is short enough that it's basically all powerband, and in any other gear you can always downshift
