Has any one of you that commented on camping at Joshua Tree actually called the law about this obvious abuse? It won't get any better if you stay silent and ignore the misuse. Remaining silent gives the miscreants a stronger toe-hold.
@@worldupsidedown1 You are right. I've read about it from other campers here and there. Also, I see that many Wal-Marts no longer allow overnight stays at their stores. Also, some of the Planet Fitness are turning the water off for showers and you have to ask to have it turned on. It makes me sad that so many folks have to be slobs when they stay in different BLM spots. I'm not complaining about folks who are homeless. That can happen to any of us. But keep your spot cleaned up.
I can only hope that those of you who are having bad experiences are reporting it to the proper authorities; nothing will change if it isn't reported unfortuantly. Safe travels everyone!!
I’ve been going to Joshua Tree NP BLM land to boondock for a couple years and there are a few permanent residents there. It appears that the 14 day limit isn’t enforced. That’s going to ruin it for everyone else when they eventually close it all down.
Had to stop this video just to let you know your hair in curls is absolutely adorable! So uplifting and youthful. And now that I've watched the rest of the video, very thorough and informative, as usual.
Robin, I found a GREAT BLM, free camping area in California called New River close to Parker, AZ. The land is easy to drive on with flat rocks, it's next to the mountains above the main road and LOTS Of Room for many camping areas with a view! Easy to get to town that has a Wal-Mart and Laundromat, it's a great place to shop and see!! Close to Lake Havasu and Quartzsite too!!!
Well done on showing us that you just need to "go with the flow" sometimes when you are RV camping! Glad it all worked out and I hope everyone had a fantastic time!
I'm glad you're okay Robin. I recently saw a video where a group of men kept driving though a camp and kicking up dust to force the campers to move. They moved because the men were armed (possible drug dealers/cookers). We shouldn't have to have the National Guard out just so we can camp, it's ridiculous. Again, so glad you and your lovely Airstream are okay.
When you pull into a place that seems okay and start staying for the night, then bad actors show up in the middle of the night, you leave. Safety first. Lots of places in the desert southwest can be VERY dangerous, if the locals don't want you there or if bad actors show up in the middle of the night. While I do keep a lead enable device, I avoid issues and split if it get strange.
we camped in joshua tree camping area, at night around 2 am were hearing people around the trailer, i turned on the lights a homeless man stealing our chairs and table, and dragging them away, i stop him , got the items back and at 500am he did it again, so did i , at 800am the rangers came out told us , he was removed from the joshua tree camping area and moved on, the problem at most BLM location in the desert is YOUR ON YOUR OWN!!!!!!!!!! i pack a weapon at all times, and there always lights off my rig, and trailer. the last time this happen was at ALABAMA HILLS,CA those people went to jail for threatening me on camera . they got 2 yrs, each there were 4 of them! pack a gun or shotgun when camping out in the open BLM areas or use a camping ground area, and ay for the service to be provided for your protection.

A couple of days ago I watched a video of 4 RV'ers who were menaced of BLM country in Utah, if I remember correctly. The 4, middle-aged men with their own individual RV campers had just pulled in and were challenged by a couple of younger men doing doughnuts in the isolated area right in front of where they had parked and set up for the couple of days of enjoying the solitude and beauty of the wilds. When the older guys challenged the rowdies they left and returned with reinforcements in numbers and possibly guns. As night was approaching and none of the older guys were armed, wisdom, that is, decretion, being the better part of valor, spoke loudly and clearly they left posthaste. Better to be in one piece with an undamaged vehicle than prove your vulnerability ( or otherwise) by standing ground just to prove a point.
@@lynnmckenzie4841 I happened to watch their video yesterday ... wonder if the young ones had a meth lab around the bend they were worried about ... :-(
Locals can be problems everywhere. They can be territorial. Especially if you're in their favorite party spot. The local cops can easily be friends or relatives of them and not enforce anything. They don't get the connection between income and tourism.
We found a dumpy spot very much like that in Moses Lake, WA. There big top of should have been the unsightly appearance if the whole town! Anyway, we're drove out to the "dunes" immediately seeing a dozen 80's model RV in very rough shape. Had to drive further in order to turn around. Omg! The restrooms looked atrocious! 🤢 "Ok Walmart it is then!"
Robin, have been following you for awhile and was really surprised when you said you were at Joshua Tree. I was stationed at MCB 29 Palms a couple of times when I was in the Marine Corps. My first time I had a Kawasaki 250 Enduro and would camp all over the place on free weekends when I didn't have duty. Even went up to Big Bear a couple of times. That area has really changed alot since I was there. Left for Hawaii back in June of 77 after I was promoted to Staff Sargeant. Sure would like to make it back there one last time. When we left for Hawaii there were some rain storms which caused some flash floods but we lucked out and missed them. We used to describe the upper desert as "miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles". Lots of memories from that period and thank you for bringing them back.....Semper Fi!!!!!
I wonder if it is because of the economy in California. We have noticed that many of the campgrounds especially in California are full of people who are living there full time because they can't afford the cost of housing in CA. Many of the trailers look decades old, and I think it is because that is the only thing that they can afford.
I am in the same area as this video and I ended up paying for 2 nights in an RV park because I haven't felt safe anywhere I've tried to boondock. I rarely camp in paid parks so this was unexpected but when I pulled into different areas on the cottonwood side outside the park the garbage in the dispersed camping areas was unlike anything I'd ever seen. It was disgusting. I drove to the north entrance and got to Joshua tree and the very same road you went down and didn't feel safe as a female boondocking alone to camp there. I already knew not to go to giant rock area because friends had been run out of there a few days before by locals. I also tried dispersed camping in the park itself and the ranger didn't even let me go into the park because he asked if I was planning to camp and I said yes and he told me all paid and dispersed campsites were full and made me do a u turn at the park pay entrance because he was afraid I'd try to camp in the park in non regulated dispersed areas once he knew I wanted to camp . I explained it was getting late and my dog and I had driven for hours and it would be faster for me to get back to and LTVA near Blythe if I drove thru the park and yet he still didn't allow me entrance because he was so sure I'd hide behind a tree somewhere and camp outside the designated areas. Well my entire trip to Joshua tree has been a bust and I probably will never return to explore the park because sadly it has been a complete waste of time, gas and money for a RV park. I'm spoiled obviously from Nevada, Arizona and other states that have pristine free land to boondock. I had plans to go to another park to see the flowers in bloom in California but now I'm afraid I'll end up in the same situation without a place to camp.
Go to New River, CA BLM land 3/4 miles south of the Parker, AZ Bridge over the Colorado River and turn up the easy hill! Lots of great camping sites there with a view! I was there last year, NO problems! Parker has a Walmart and everything else you may need!! Be careful turning at California Ave and Main Street, it's a 5 lane road that gets crazy at times!! I almost had an accident there!!!

Welcome to California. I lived there for almost 50 years moved to Mexico 15 years ago best decision I ever made was to leave that state there is nothing good about that state anymore. 😢
We love it here. Born and raised. But we're in the north. S. CA has no interest for us except to see the desert again maybe one more time. We prefer the northern forests.
@@collinsfriend1 it is pretty but that's about all I can say about it. It's just not the same anymore and so many people have to leave. It's a sad thing.
I went there last year and I agree it wasn't as expected. Dry lake bed was mushy in many places and we were lucky we didn't get caught in it. We managed to get on the lake bed far enough away from other campers and stayed only one night because there are no desert bushes or vegetation to help create privacy and we didn't feel comfortable staying there. Unfortunately it wasn't the beautiful experience we hoped it would be at Joshua Tree.
Not just California, we spent a couple of months on the Oregon coast last summer. We stayed in one location at a nice campground. We noticed quite a few 30 year old RVs parked along the turnouts that NEVER moved the entire summer. It was actually shocking.
I knew it was going to be this place! We stayed there one night last November. Some campers have put up fences with automatic lights all over, a bunch were shooting weapons, the road was horrific, I kept an eye on the weather and surroundings. We were happy to leave at sunrise. Your video and pictures don’t really do it justice. This place is sketchy AF. Also, loving the hair! Happy Trails!
I went to that spot last year and would not go back! Sad, that it has become so run down with garbage and filth. The south side Joshua Tree BLM is great, but can get pretty busy at times.
I was in Baja last April and saw the long term weather forecast for 2024 and I knew… in a way that long term nomads know, from their gut feeling… that there was going to be a lot of rain in Arizona this year.
Hi aro in, so happy to find your channel and enjoy your informative discussions. We love our 20 ft AS Bambi and are fortunate enough to stay in nice RV parks when traveling. Hubbie wants to try boondocking but I prefer the safety of a secure park especially here in California. Lived here all my life but if I were in an RV full time and needed to boondock, I’d find another state! The most difficult task in our Bambi is putting the bottom sheet on the heavy mattress (dont like sleeping bags.) Wish someone would do YT video on how to do this easily.
A very timely video! Lots of rain in CT this year, and I can just imagine if it was all sand outside. My basement has flooded at least 6 times in the last 2 months.
I have heard this problem from others on BLM land in California, Arizona, and a few other states, where problem people have taken over, and even assaulted campers, including a lady who lives in her car. She was sleeping, and someone smashed a large rock threw her rear window. There were a lot of other campers there too,
This is exactly why when people do crap like this, they run it for the others that have integrity in our clean in our Orly and they follow. The rules just takes one and two and then the next thing you know that destroy the whole shebang.
bargain tip: fabric stores sell foam rubber which makes good mattress, ezily rolled up & cheap. lived in j tree--only place i'v ever seen it rain mud. seriously, wind kicks up dust then rain falls on it= raining mud. surprised the homeless have made it that far from the urban centers... but jt is in san bernardino county, & san bernardino the city is known for having gone downhill lately
Hi Robin, yep I ran into those extremely messy trashy RVs in the desert all the time. I am so surprised that this was like something of a unique experience for you I understand like you said why people do it. you know rent is so high and it is so much better to live in an RV rent-free go to the desert where it's beautiful set up camp and live there. the problem is a lot of those people are on meth and those kind of people get so dirty and trashy and a can be very dangerous. Unfortunately thats reality. I know first hand. Robin this was another great video and I want to thank you for it. the mattress looks killer and I know RV mattresses suck and you always have to get one so much better. thank you for all that you do. say hello to Debbie for me tell her it's Kavita. I'm so glad she won the mattress. Yay for Debbie. by the way, Robin, your hair looks so awesome and so beautiful on you. be well stay safe and enjoy. Give a dance in the desert for me. ❤❤
I don't care how broke you are there is no excuse for a trashy camp . Bag your trash, and line it up neatly,at least, then get it outta there when u can. - at the very least.
Everything I see about CA isn’t good. People harassing and stealing others. I visited California 30 years ago when I smoked and I couldn’t breathe from all the smog, I couldn’t stop coughing the entire time I was there. I couldn’t wait to leave. Been there, done that, didn’t need the T shirt and I’m not going back.
Hi Robin. So relatable regarding BLM land like you came up on. You seemed to infer this is unusual. Not to me. I seemed to be in that kind of funk often. Cutting to the chase, it's gross. The trash, drugs, loose dogs, you get it. I understand why people do it, it's expensive to live and no rent in the beautiful desert. Fantastic video. BTW your hair looks so awesome. Say hi to Debbie, so glad she got a great bed!! ❤
When you were showing your bed I thought I saw some critters move across! I hope not as bedbugs are horrible to get rid of! Easy to get especially as a traveler! 🙏
There is an old landing strip just past lake pleasant right outside of Phoenix,Az that I use . Maybe that will work for you next time? Bloody basin outside of Phoenix is great for individuals also
My wife and I camped on the BLM spot you pointed out last year and had no problems. We had no problems and were as far away from other groups as possible. Sorry you had a bad experience.
I am very glad you are back. I hope your break was peaceful. I watch another chanel that uses BLM places but are pretty remote, usually no one else there so i didnt know they could be sketchy like that place. I am so glad you found a safe place and had fun.
QUESTION: When you order a mattress online how do you dispose of your old RV mattress? I am a full-timer so I don't have a regular "big garbage" pick up like you might in a regular home.
I got a mattress from them a couple years ago and I love it, however, it's sooo heavy I can't open the storage compartment underneath it. Any suggestions?
Good Morning Robin, I just wanted to ask you if you could remind me how to receive the new updates on your roaming book? Fixing to dig into it again. Glad to see you back hope you enjoyed your vacation.
Yea there’s a lot of people who live in certain areas of BLM land. Found that in places in California and Oregon forest but I’m sure it’s everywhere. Usually its been ok to just head down the way a bit and find a better spot. My big German Shepherd seems to do the job of deterring any questionable folks.
It looked like some of the campers on the BLM land were dirt bike riders. Unless you have a bike, I wouldn’t want to stay there for the noise factor. I’m glad you were able to pivot. :)
it is rather unfortunate that some of the most popular places in southern California have fallen to this type of despair. In addition, more serious crimes are being committed in these areas. I won't suggest camping anywhere without know someone from the local area to guide you to a better place.
This is very dis-hearting to me. Just because you are poor, does not mean you have to be trashy. My question is does the BLM address some of these issues?

Where in Mexico?
I love it when people like you leave California! You should go where you're happy.
Hicksville trailer palace is where Johnny Depp stayed just outside Joshua tree
I went there last year and I agree it wasn't as expected. Dry lake bed was mushy in many places and we were lucky we didn't get caught in it. We managed to get on the lake bed far enough away from other campers and stayed only one night because there are no desert bushes or vegetation to help create privacy and we didn't feel comfortable staying there. Unfortunately it wasn't the beautiful experience we hoped it would be at Joshua Tree.
Sadly, the problem seems to be happening statewide in CA.
I concur 💯
I was in Baja last April and saw the long term weather forecast for 2024 and I knew… in a way that long term nomads know, from their gut feeling… that there was going to be a lot of rain in Arizona this year.
You may have already found someplace else, but there’s a nice RV area at the south entrance to Joshua tree. No rain forecast.
Just because it's free doesn't mean it's safe & good! As a single lady traveler, be careful & happy travel's!
Good to see you again.
Thank you Robin for another great video!!!
There were a lot of other campers there too,
Glad you all are ok.
This is exactly why when people do crap like this, they run it for the others that have integrity in our clean in our Orly and they follow. The rules just takes one and two and then the next thing you know that destroy the whole shebang.
Hate to say it, but that's probably just a sign of things to come . That's going to be happening to more and more places in afraid.
bargain tip: fabric stores sell foam rubber which makes good mattress, ezily rolled up & cheap. lived in j tree--only place i'v ever seen it rain mud. seriously, wind kicks up dust then rain falls on it= raining mud. surprised the homeless have made it that far from the urban centers... but jt is in san bernardino county, & san bernardino the city is known for having gone downhill lately
Great for skinny people. AND not that cheap.
Congratulations Debbie! 🥳💫🎉
Your videos are so helpful! Looking forward to your upcoming videos, someday I hope to get the courage to do this.
Great video! 😍🥰😍🥰🇺🇲🙏✝️🙏✝️🙏🇺🇲😍🥰🇺🇲🙏✝️❤😍🥰🇺🇲🙏✝️
Welcome to California 😳
Coming to a state near you if we don’t turn things around.
NEW HERE. OH MY ...........SCARY .....JUST SUBBED. WHAT A GREAT SPOT. ENJOYED.. I DO SUPERHOT PEPPERS, CAMPING AND JUNK. CHEERS.
I am a Patreon member. Why do I see you only on TH-cam? I desperately need your boondocking resources. ❤
QUESTION: When you order a mattress online how do you dispose of your old RV mattress? I am a full-timer so I don't have a regular "big garbage" pick up like you might in a regular home.
Excellent video Robin! I wish I were there rather than being stuck in New York State….lottsa snow…great people.😮
I got a mattress from them a couple years ago and I love it, however, it's sooo heavy I can't open the storage compartment underneath it. Any suggestions?
Have you tried a beddy on top sheet, comfort in one zips up perfect for campers and have camper bed sizes
Thanks for the info
Anza Borrego or Salton Sea area would be a second option in the area.
Cute hair!
That’s crazy, looks like people are living how they have to, but you don’t have to be pigs. Glad your group were able to stay safe at the park.
Good Morning Robin, I just wanted to ask you if you could remind me how to receive the new updates on your roaming book? Fixing to dig into it again. Glad to see you back hope you enjoyed your vacation.
I was able to get it. Very simple lol. Sometimes my brain doesn’t kick in correctly 🤦♀️
Great video. Thanks for the information. May the good Lord watch over you and your family and friends. Peace and Love 😊😊
Are most of these places ok for car campers too? Or RVs only?
Gish Robin, your hair style looks fabulous on you!
Call and report it. It’s apparent that that campground has been forgotten
And it nice to feel safe.
I love your hair! Mine is long and this almost makes me want to cut mine. I’m guessing it a lot easier when RVing.
Love your hair❤
Seeing land treated that way makes me sick. This is why they are closing BLM lands.
It looked like some of the campers on the BLM land were dirt bike riders. Unless you have a bike, I wouldn’t want to stay there for the noise factor. I’m glad you were able to pivot. :)
Too many shenanigans to deal with these days with boondocking, IMO.
Love your hat!
Love your hair Gurl!!!
Debbie the RV inspector!
Hello!
That bed looks comfy and that’s scary 😮 wouldn’t stay there either ❤
Your videos are so helpful! I can’t seem to find a queen mattress with a cut corner for my class C. Any ideas?
Me too! Looking forward to the responses 😊
I wouldn’t think they would be that uncommon but can’t seem to find one online 😅
You should check out Static Van. He tours CA to OR.
Hope you have a 4x4. Those areas flood quickly - careful
How thick of mattress did you get?
it is rather unfortunate that some of the most popular places in southern California have fallen to this type of despair. In addition, more serious crimes are being committed in these areas. I won't suggest camping anywhere without know someone from the local area to guide you to a better place.
Love my Brooklyn mattress.
Use South JT for sure! Not North.
Good video young lady.
This is very dis-hearting to me. Just because you are poor, does not mean you have to be trashy. My question is does the BLM address some of these issues?
OMG
..Is your hair ever cute !!! 🤗. Very very nice
I'd love to see a video on free/BLM/boondocking east of the Mississippi.
rv carolyn goes back east. her yt channel is carolynrv
That situation's I'm worried about.
Who did your hair? Beautiful!
Your wavy hair is so nice and you sure are looking pretty!🦌💌🙏👍🚙
Well, California does have the highest number of homeless. I would avoid that state all together.
BLUR their license plates!
Should have went to Slab City, you weren't far from there👍✌️🖖
OMG the environmental river is no joke in a dry lake bed & sketchy neighbors on BLM
