It’s more so that these hyper Christian women follow this SAME bizarre style. It isn’t really the modesty...It’s the same floral prints, pastel hues , blonde hair, and little side braids, or wavy hair...I don’t understand when this became the “official” Christian style. You can be modest and still have your own individual style.

I actually like to wear camis under my shirts sometimes. I don’t like when my bra shows through thin shirts. I don’t care about modesty, but I just think it looks ugly when it shows through. I definitely don’t use camis to hide plunging necklines like they suggested in one video. That looks so ugly! One time I was wearing a v-neck shirt and my mom literally told me to put a cami underneath. Like, thanks mom, but I don’t want to look like some thirty year old librarian.
There's bands that look like tube tops meant to cover your bra for that. They aren't bras so they're not right but they make everything look smoother. It looks better than a cami. Though a clip would probably be the best choice.

I know that God gives women the advice not to lay their worth on their clothes or jewelry but rather on their character, but I don’t think women need to cover all their natural body parts which could be attracting a man. I personally don't get what turning jeans into shorts have to do with modesty. That's...that's literally what my family has done when they couldn't afford to buy shorts.
from a practical standpoint, I think it's so they can pick the exact length of their shorts. since shorts are "too short nowadays" tbh tho shorts from old navy generally have a range of lengths listed in inches on the tags. they're being very dramatic about it.
i'm catholic and i think that if u enjoy your clothes and feel your best in them, then WEAR THEM. when you're confident, you'll look great no matter what!!!

I am really ashamed of how they show christianity to the world. In no word God tells us in the bible how we shall dress... In some kind of way it complains Him by thinking he would only care about unnecessary stuff like clothing. As a christian girl, grown up with a hippie dad I was raised totally free. My parents are currently in some kind of fight with my our church leaders, because they have books from Girls Defined in our bookshop. Wish us success and thanks for the vid:))
Rebecca A. I have read the whole bible and nobody is telling me I have to do it like Girls Defined think it should be. I know that God gives women the advice not to lay their worth on their clothes or jewelry but rather on their character, but I don’t think women need to cover all their natural body parts which could be attracting a man. I think it is the same mindset which shames women for getting raped because they wore too sexy clothing. It’s a drastic example but think about it. It doesn’t mean we need to wear hot pants but it shall mean, that if men are immediately attracted if they just get a look at a part of our décolleté, maybe they should ask themself what they do wrong. Blessings from a non-English speaking country, so please excuse my language:))
Actually in Leviticus it says that wearing 2 pieces of clothing with different fabrics is a sin, and i dont see these girls following that rule... I am a Christian but i dont agree with these girls whatsoever and my parents have always been pretty free in letting me express myself through my clothing. like she said in the video, it is absolutely fine to dress modestly and totally your choice, but forcing it on others and looking down on others who dont do the same as you is actually against god’s laws. He says we must not judge and love each other equally, something which i think a lot of christians overlook...

As a genderfluid folk, I was insecure af with my first feminine outfit, but looking back and comparing it to GD's summer collection, I really did WAY, W A Y better than them. The comparison isn't even worth it. So I got a little confidence boost over this. Thanks Annamarie

I dress modestly because I'm self conscious about my body, but I know some other Christian women who don't and they are just as valid.

I personally don't get what turning jeans into shorts have to do with modesty. That's...that's literally what my family has done when they couldn't afford to buy shorts.
from a practical standpoint, I think it's so they can pick the exact length of their shorts. since shorts are "too short nowadays"
tbh tho shorts from old navy generally have a range of lengths listed in inches on the tags. they're being very dramatic about it.

let me be clear: you can dress however you want. do what makes you happy. I am definitely more religious than the average person, and i personally dress more modestly but there is so much cute, trendy, “aesthetic” modest clothing, they have no excuse to look like THAT. like you are not a kindergarten teacher. please grow up. if you really “love god” you would know he loves all people no matter what they wear, love, or look like on the surface. it’s so stupidly hypocritical to shame others using the excuse of “god.”
I just feel so bad for their children when they get to their teen years like when kids get to that age they care so much about fitting in and want to be like their friends at school and they’ll want to wear what everyone else wears and it’s really sad to think that their moms will force them to dress like this and probably make them feel super embarrassed
Maybe they shouldn't fear what their flawed peers think of them. No matter how embarrassing the fashion, it's better having parents that want you to strive to be godly rather then involve yourself in the lusts of the world

I know I'm commenting on this video way late, but back when I was growing up fundamentalist / quiverfull up until about 2 years ago, I was so uncomfortable with myself and convinced myself I couldn't wear any clothing that's wasn't long sleeve shirts and pants 24/7. I hated my body for being fat, being trans, and being afab. quarentine as well as getting away from girl defined type creators has really helped me not be as ashamed of myself

I am a few months younger than Bethany, I say this because this puts us both at the same time period as being teenagers. Dresses over jeans was the style when we were teenagers, so this means even though they wrote about being models that Bethany’s style never evolved past the early 00s. It also explains why both of them act like bullies to people who don’t agree with them.
