Just kinda wanted to chime in and say both of yall are amazing and I hope you‘re happy now freely living and being who you are! And at least both of you got the toxic people out of your life, so that‘s something good! (:
As a Christian I totally agree. If you take things out of context and bend it to make yourself feel better it just isn't relevant. The pharisees (the big bad guys) were so evil in the bible because they were so legalistic. Jesus was expecting, not legalistic. 🤷
Fun game: when you listen to that "abortion song", imagine the women- who are forced to grow and give birth to a child they don't want/can't bring up- singing it. Cause a fetus has to have a voice but a grown woman doesn't and can't have a right to HER OWN BODY.
Yeah, like what about women who were raped at a young age and got pregnant? Like,if a 16 year old cannot adopt a child because she's too young, hasn't finished her education and can't support herself yet then she should be able to chose not to raise a baby and get an abortion
@@_mightyheroes_ preach sister! So many women that have had an abortion and said it was the best decision of their lives. Because sometimes it's not the right time or circumstance to have a baby. And a woman DOESN'T HAVE TO HVE A REASON TO GET AN ABORTION OTHER THAN THAT'S WHAT SHE WANTS AND NEEDS!
I am all for abortion just so we are aware, but I feel as though there should be a limit. Like say ur 8 monthes pregnant and just suddenly you want to get an abortion i dont personally support it,but if a women was doing it i wouldnt shame her and tell her not to,i wouldnt call her a murderer,it is her body and it is her choice. Lorelei Christianity is more of a relationship then a religion, so it really depends on the person and how you want to express your faith. The way I see it is something to give you strength and a path when you’re lost or to help others in need. I hope this helps😊
The bible was written thousands of years ago by many different men and has been translated so many times and taken out of context and so it’s just a record of Chinese whispers with some positive messages not limited to religion.
As a stong believer (Christian) I really think Girl Defined are stuck on how people in the old days used to live and addressed situations. Their view on modesty is, in my opinion, toxic to young Christian girls or just girls in general. They don't want to realize that people's way of living and expressing their faith evolved.
Agreed. Most of the stuff they tout isn’t even supported by the Bible. It’s either their opinion or stuff that the church has spouted for years that is more of a political talking point than a Biblical principle.
As some one who knows the bible, I can see soo many problems with her claims (Girl Defined), all of the arguments Girl Defined is using, to say God is Gray is not a Christian, can be turned right around on them! Such Hypocrisy! They are only one big logical fallacy
Can you elaborate on this? Because I surely agree to you, however can’t yet put in words, what exactly is wrong about their claims, since they for sure are
@@glmmr8016 let's just say that Girl Defined's arguments are like pointing a finger in the mirror: it will reflect back to you, making it look like you're pointing at yourself. Or it's just like Uno reverse card: the turn will come back to the previous player. I dunno
Honestly and the whole thing about picking and chosing the bible I feel like everyone (or at least a high majority) doesnt follow everything in the bible like I dont see people hiding in a tent for the whole of their period (and I deffo dont want to) just some people follow more than others
I grew up Pentecostal. There are several verses that discuss how a women's hair is not to be shown in church.. women are not to speak in church.. women's hair isnt to be cut or changed.. women aren't to wear anything between their legs aka pants shorts.. no makeup.. a woman on her period is unclean and anywhere she sits while on her period is unclean. I could keep going and going. Yet you never hear them talk about any of this. I also want to add that these girls have never go to bible college. They aren't preachers.. priests or nuns. These girls go to wayside Chapel which is in the parish of the Uniting church of Australia. I looked up what it takes to start a ministry "The role of the laity is valued in the UCA, which recognises that ministry is a function of the entire church. However, "specified ministries" are defined.[22] Of these, the roles of elder and pastor are open to lay members. The church has two orders of ordained ministry: minister and deacon. When it is not possible (or desirable) to have an ordained minister, a lay preacher or lay ministry team may act in their place (similar to a Methodist local preacher). Lay preachers are required to participate in training and examinations conducted by each synod, and must be approved by the presbytery." These women have no training to be a proper ministry.
They are hating on Brenda because she is loving everyone as the bible tells her to. Irrespective of the person's background, sexuality, religion or beliefs. Didn't Jesus wine and dine with "sinners".
Wow, throwing shade on your friend because she started to take a critical look at the world and realized that the Bible is telling you to treat fellow humans as less. So glad I did the same as their "friend". You have a great video here. I did not know about the other parts of their conference video (I just don't feel like torturing myself like that) and I am really glad you touched on these points. Very well done.
It kills me when pro lifers are like what would the Baby want..... my mom had a week to decide if she was going to keep me and obviously she did and I felt bad growing up knowing she got robbed of being able to live her life and decide when she was ready to start a family. Not to mention life isn’t all peaches and cream and if I had a say in being born I’d probably opted out, lolz
Also my mom went thru a traumatizing relationship and kept trying to make it work due to the fact she really wanted her daughter to have both parents and honestly it’s heart breaking but ofc a bunch of well off white Christian or Jewish with all the privilege in the world and probably having experience any trauma that the women they love to talk down have, wouldn’t understand. 😒
While I agree one some points I just wanted to let you know that you should never feel gulity or responsible for your mothers decision. You are a worthwile person, you are priceless and you deserve to live and be happy. I hope youre doing good and dont carry shame or trauma with you.
Just commenting to let you know I feel the same way . Like I would’ve opted out of being born if I could’ve . Life isn’t all sunshine and flowers like all the religious “ pro lifers” make it out to be . Maybe for them it is because they’ve never had to worry about money or have great families but not everyone has that and making the responsible choice to not bring a kid into a shitty situation is just well....it’s responsible .
Yes my mother and father have traditional Christian families-my mother became pregnant with my older brother before they were married and when they were absolutely not ready for or considering marriage. They were pushed into a shotgun wedding. My father was an unemployed alcoholic at the time and my mother was also forced to move back home to a town she hated to get help with caring for kids. My dad is sober now and they love each other and have a very healthy marriage but they absolutely did not at the beginning and my mother suffered greatly because she wasn’t allowed to make any decision in her life due to her families values
If I knew, as a fetus, that my parents would be abusive and my mom would make me feel like a burden to her, I would've self-aborted myself. At least then, my nerve endings aren't as well developed and I have no ability to form memories yet which protects me from the agony of living through abuse. I recall one time my mom and I got in an argument because she found out I was texting my at then boyfriend, it wasn't even anything bad, but she misinterpreted it as something sexual and she threatened to take me out of the school that I worked so hard to get into. That school was my only escape from her, so my life only belonged to her at the time. She told me how shitty of a daughter I was and how ungrateful I was and how I only make her mad. And I responded on impulse saying, "well if I piss you off so often, then why didn't you abort me? Or at least abandon me somewhere or put me up for adoption?" And she didn't have a response to that, she just ignored me and kept berating me. I get it's not something you typically ask a mom because you can end up really hurting their feelings, but with her, she's a narcissist and she would much rather antagonize me for saying that and use my insecurities against me. I couldn't care less if her feelings were hurt that day, because she did so much worse to me my entire life than I ever did to her in just one night. I was paranoid for a long time I'd become just like her, or that I can't be a mom in the future because I'm scared I'll become like her. But my sister made me feel better by telling me, "you're paranoid and worried and don't want to become like her, she lacks self awareness, you don't, that makes you better than her in many ways." So although I'm still not comfortable with the idea of ever having children, if I were to become a mother, I'd make sure I'm okay before I bring a life to the world. Because it isn't fair to me or to that child to undergo so much unnecessary pain. If people who are pro-life want me to think about the children, I'd tell them that I'd much rather have a healthy happy child when I am able to and when I want rather than bringing up a child who isn't able to have their mom fully there for them because they are battling their own internal battles. You can impact a child's life in such drastic ways, it is so much better to have a choice to have a child because it also gives future children the opportunity to become kind and empathetic people. Having a child when you're mentally ill just because other people unrelated to you tell you to most of the time only makes your mental health so much worse, and I wouldn't ever want my child to feel at fault for my failing mental health. For some lucky people, it could turn their life for the better, but that's not the reality for so many people who grew up poor, in marginalized communities, and/or with several mental health issues.
I find it depressingly ironic that even with all their self-righteous preaching and judging, the English version of the bible is HEAVILY mistranslated; the original texts in Hebrew and Greek have much different contexts and meanings, especially because of the culture and time period they were written in.
Exactly this, I can never understand why people take a book so literally that was written 20 centuries ago that has been translated so many times, it meaning is actually meaningless
@@edenmoon8275 as a religious person i read tons of translations from different translators and from different times. i just try to find the most logical arguments and accept that. since my "deist/spiritual" side is more dominant, i am comfortable with the thought of there is a change that the things i read might be wrong, so i don't really care about it that much.

As an atheist, I have SO much respect for Brenda. She sounds like a lovely, accepting, genuine person. The fact that Mr. Atheist didn't respond to her is upsetting, I quit following him a long time ago. Not surprised the other christian channels didn't respond tho.
They actually did a few videos together (Brenda and mr Atheist) on girl defined. Maybe you missed them because they are lifestreams but they have a great relationship. Mr Atheist actually says Grey is Bae.
I love that Girl Defined accuses "people like God is Grey" of cherry-picking god's word, but they literally be out there as women, on a stage, unchaperoned by a man, voicing their opinions publicly, and wearing mixed fabrics lol
Yeah, the mixed fabrics thing is so hilarious and doesn't make sense in today's world. So everyone looks past that. And why? Because the Bible is 2 thousand FUCKING years old.
It's so weird that they make fun of God is Grey for saying she had an experience with the holy spirit that changed everything. Did they like, even read the Bible? That happened repeatedly in the Bible where God would send an angel to tell somebody something, or have them have a dream or something and then they where supposed to communicate that with everyone. Why would that not continue happening now? Like, we used to not be able to eat pig according to the Bible then someone had an experience with the holy spirit and now that's okay.
They consider THAT a relgious sin too😂😂 You know it's just the Devil playing Tricks of the mind😂 Also, please understand I say this jokingly. I do not in anyway believe these things. A sexuality and all sexuality is cool.. (Except some very obvious exceptions)
I'm convinced children and young teens don't watch girl defined by choice and Christian parents force them to watch these "sweet relatable young ladies" and they don't know any better and get sucked into the cult.
As a Christian I like the way you go about these videos so many youtubers will do these videos and just sit there and disrespect Christianity but I like the way you just talk about girl defined as individuals not the whole religion and you used the bible verse in the right context
It bothers me how they assume people can’t have a judgement of their own, that they only do certain things because they are ‘hip and trendy’. Honey, no.
I really like how you pointed out all the disgusting parts of girl defined without condemning all Christians as having the same mindset of them. As a young girl I felt like I had to chose between my progressive ideas and believing in god. Thanks for this, excellent video:) you’re doing great:)
The only Christian channel I like is Micarah Tewers. She makes a bunch of clothes and has a lot of birds, including, like, 3 chickens. She’s actually really interesting and doesn’t go on and on about her religion, which I love. She also remakes a bunch off different dresses based on, like, the Grammys or something😂😂😂 Edit: I’ll have to look at Brenda’s channel🥰
I'm a Christian and I really really hate the way girls defined go about spreading the word of God and I really don't like how they attacked the God is grey account its not like sexuality is a choice and God loves everyone and doesn't judge what gives them the right to judge others
honestly my opinion is that faith, in a nutshell, is about being a better person. so if whatever faith you choose to believe in, if it helps you become a better person, then good job believe what you believe. to me there’s no “one” religion. like there isn’t a correct religion so while i believe in God, and i’m catholic, what girl defined is doing is NOT correct in any way. there’s something called evangelization in my religion, it means that you spread the word of God but also help people that already believe to grow in faith. if you evangelize you are sharing your religion to others that want or ask to learn about it, not pushing your religion on others. shaming others is not the “word of God” AND if you’re LGBTQ+ , and a christian, God loves you and accepts you. you can’t choose to be that way so obviously God made you that way for a reason, to be you. please don’t listen to these ignorant people such as girl defined. one of the main reasons i believe in God is because he loves everyone, and he wants you to love as well, it doesn’t matter if your gay or pan or bi or anything like that because he just wants you to be happy. God loves you just the way you are ❤️ (sorry if this was confusing i’m not good at explaining things)
Best part I love about the parts they usually quote against homosexuality is that "man shall not lie with man" is a mistranslation. The verse was originally against pedophilia, "man shall not lie with boy"
I go to a Christian church, and they have no discrimination there like most of the people who serve even have tattoos and piercings. Some of our youth is LGBT too
God is Grey has made me cry multiple times, she made me feel so loved and accepted and my family has never done that for me (context: I’m no nonbinary and abrosexual and grew up in a conservative household)
My parents won’t even let me go to art school EVEN THOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I WOULD MOST LIKELY EXCELL THERE, just because there are gay & transgender students there.

thank you for the disclaimer about being fine with religion, as long as you don't force it on other people and judge others because of it (bc i completely agree). i also loved that you did actual biblical research! as a christian woman, we do not claim her. in fact, we exile her and all who act like her.
2:10 - to add on your foster care comment, many kids are often physically abused in the foster care system and the Bible certainly doesn’t say anything against child abuse but that’s not a conversation she’ll ever have now is it? 👀

Awesome video! You earned yourself a new subscriber ☺ I myself don't hold any religious or spiritual beliefs at all, but as a queer person I love Christians like Brenda who go out of their way to defend our community from people like Girl Defined. Brenda is such a good person that I even get frustrated at how forgiving, kind and charitable she is to people like Girl Defined, who don't deserve that from her I think, but that just shows how committed she is to the core aspects of her religion (which is basically love your neighbor) in a way Girl Defined can't even dream to achieve.
I can't even make this shit up... as soon as Morgans abortion song came on, my cat who was cuddling with me instantly got up and left. That says enough about that
I am a christian too. But I felt like outsider at all christian youth events. Despite the fact I received Sacrament of Penance and Eucharist I felt like a black sheep. The healing came when I was meeting up with the elderly Christians - besides Grace they had experience thus understanding.
As for me, my holy book says rules need to be changed with time. So, it practically says "Hey, don't follow me if I'm too outdated". Also, I think, we can keep our books, just change the way we understand and interpret their texts
this sounds like my Baptist church growing up. Sunday school was teaching us everything wrong with other branches of Christianity and other religions as soon as we were teens.
OMG i went to a baptist school for a long time and they didn't even consider ppl who are Catholic or Methodist "true bible following Christians" they would bash especially Catholics bc of their reverence to Mary and call it "idol worship". I have one and ONLY one thing in common with Kristen and Bethany. We were born into a religious community. We never chose to be subscribed to it. People, them included, have a hard time rethinking anything that challenges what is comfortable to them. And for those two, they aren't just comfortable, they thrive in their community. They will never change. And when I see them, when I hear what they say, I can't help but feel like that could've been me just as easily. And I'm so glad I put in the time and effort to think for myself. They ARE organized religion and that will always be a dangerous thing.
i was also born into a family that was religious and I turned out gay and it was hard cause I really loved that god. It hurt to hear he didn’t love me.

As a Christian I totally agree. If you take things out of context and bend it to make yourself feel better it just isn't relevant. The pharisees (the big bad guys) were so evil in the bible because they were so legalistic. Jesus was expecting, not legalistic. 🤷
@@sohailape as an ex muslim i agree
That's not true!!
A survivor of rape shouldn't be forced to have the child of a human garbage. A young girl shouldn't destroy her life at such a young age.
I fucking hate people who shame women for that, its horrible.
@@josephinelane9288 I completely agree with you. Shaming women is never good. Also about the late term abortions, they are extremely rare and usually only had because the mother or the child will not survive child birth and that was only just found out.
@@josephinelane9288 There is one. Usually 22-24 weeks. After this time frame abortions are performed only for medical reasons and you can't abort a viable baby, you give birth to it.

Honestly and the whole thing about picking and chosing the bible I feel like everyone (or at least a high majority) doesnt follow everything in the bible like I dont see people hiding in a tent for the whole of their period (and I deffo dont want to) just some people follow more than others
*everybody we all sin
I looked up what it takes to start a ministry
"The role of the laity is valued in the UCA, which recognises that ministry is a function of the entire church.
Lay preachers are required to participate in training and examinations conducted by each synod, and must be approved by the presbytery."
These women have no training to be a proper ministry.

@@allyhvis6046 and yet they still follow the gay rule from their 2000 year old story book (which let's be honest that's all it is)
Like, biblically, women are not supposed to preach at all. Why are you on stage, girl???
If they celebrate holidays of Pagan origin, that’s a no-no too.

It bothers me how they assume people can’t have a judgement of their own, that they only do certain things because they are ‘hip and trendy’. Honey, no.

I'm a Christian and I really really hate the way girls defined go about spreading the word of God and I really don't like how they attacked the God is grey account its not like sexuality is a choice and God loves everyone and doesn't judge what gives them the right to judge others
honestly my opinion is that faith, in a nutshell, is about being a better person. so if whatever faith you choose to believe in, if it helps you become a better person, then good job believe what you believe. to me there’s no “one” religion. like there isn’t a correct religion so while i believe in God, and i’m catholic, what girl defined is doing is NOT correct in any way. there’s something called evangelization in my religion, it means that you spread the word of God but also help people that already believe to grow in faith. if you evangelize you are sharing your religion to others that want or ask to learn about it, not pushing your religion on others. shaming others is not the “word of God”
AND if you’re LGBTQ+ , and a christian, God loves you and accepts you. you can’t choose to be that way so obviously God made you that way for a reason, to be you. please don’t listen to these ignorant people such as girl defined. one of the main reasons i believe in God is because he loves everyone, and he wants you to love as well, it doesn’t matter if your gay or pan or bi or anything like that because he just wants you to be happy. God loves you just the way you are ❤️

thrive in their community. They will never change. And when I see them, when I hear what they say, I can't help but feel like that could've been me just as easily.
