      So the Israelis didnt have any better luck with these vehicles than the French and Germans.

    In addition to the H39 the Isrealis also stole 2 Cromwells from the British and a Sherman tank hulk (they scrounged enough parts to get it working) at the start of the war, later in the war they aquired Shermans and half tracks from scrap yards in Italy, Belgium and the Phillipines.

    It may be a shitty tank but regardless of how shitty a tank is, if the enemy has no tanks or heavy guns it is the best tank on the field!

      Same argument can be said of poor third world countries still using the T-34

      @@shanekhiu9884 a decade ago in South America I saw a M42 duster fitted with a couple wire guided missiles as auxiliary bolted to the rear hull sides, forgot the name but the ones the ate up the Israeli forces in the south near the suez. The twin bofors would shred anything not a proper tank and the missiles were to dispatch the tanks. As few heavy vehicles as are down there and with what APDS ammo from a 40mm can do I doubt anything much would even need to bother with the missiles save if setting an ambush for a column. Sagger missiles mabee? The few times I spoke with a crew they thought the missiles were shit but loved the dusters as all they fought were guerillas with technicals, so happily hosed down the local insurgents with hi ex love and getting the occasional ricochet from the gun shield for return fire.

      The Syrians had tanks from France, the Iraqis had tanks from Italy, and the Egyptians and Jordanians had British (and likely Italian) tanks. Hell the Jordanian tanks came with British tankers.

      @@shanekhiu9884 There aren't any nations still using the T-34 as a tank. There's a few dug in as bunkers on islands near Vietnam and they've been used as stationary guns in Yemen. But there are a lot of nations still using the T-55 tank.

    Surprised to see any post-war H39s that still have the roof boob installed instead of the flat cupola.

    • @letoubib21
      @letoubib21 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why that? While inspecting an R35 modified by the Jerries, MAJ N. Moran (NVARNG, ret.) said that no tanker could enter a "Germanized" French tank through that very small hatch anyway. . .

    • @TanksEncyclopediaYT

    The hi ex only load sounds like someone needed to dump a lot of useless ammo on a desperate customer. My experience any high pressure gun under 5cm firing hi ex is useless and below 7.62cm is even of questionable utility at times, with the only exception of coaxial .50 cal or 20mm explosive used as markers to make hits more visible to accurately bring the primary rifle to bear.

    I don't think people quite have an appreciation of what a tank can do, if you are infantry with little to no anti tank capabilities you do not want even this little Hotchkiss supported by enemy infantry rolling up on your position. It can cause tremendous damage to infantry units and light vehicles and use as direct fire support for hostile infantry. Very dangerous.
