    Thank you!! Great information. I have a few questions re: almond milk kefir:
    1) Does it matter if your glass jar is not filled to the top with almond milk? Will space at the top cause it to go bad sooner?
    2) Is it bad if you don't use enough kefir grains (ie: less effective I mean)?
    3) If you ferment in excess of 24 hours, say you do 48 hours...anything wrong with that? At what point will it go bad if you leave it unrefrigerated?
    4) Do you have any resources you can share (books, podcasts, etc) with testimonials from people who have chronic health conditions that were cured drinking kefir?

    • @LaurieEL
      @LaurieEL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You need space in the glass jar. 1. But no the space will not make it go bad. 2.if you dont have enough kefir grains fermentation could be a bit slower but not less effective. 3. I have left my kefir to ferment for 48hrs. I have never tried more then that. The best way is every 24hrs. If your leaving it longer the grains need more food (date paste) or they will die. 4 Donna Schwenk has all of that stuff she has been doing it way longer the I. If you google her You will find it. I have my testimony cures depression anxiety acne and cysta as well as gut problems. Eases pain. Makes you feel better all over. You will have to eat a healthy diet as well to get results!!

    Hi! Thanks for this, I learned a lot! I'm currently making some Cannabis-infused Kefir!! Or I should say "trying" to make it. I'm using Kefir powder because I didn't know about the grains until you. Also, yours is the first vid to suggest simply straining it over your blender which is absolutely brilliant. I hate dishes so doing that gets rid of one chore AND it's more likely to encourage me to drink smoothies. I'm legal in Cda to grow my own plants and I just started using an organic fertilizer so I'll be including some leaves in that smoothie. Cheers!

      Cannabis infused kefir....Omg my head just exploded! Sadly I don't live in a country where cannabis is legal (UK!!) But I am going to be on it when it is ;)
      What effects or benefits have you found or experienced with the cannabis infused kefir?

    • @diannadonnelly9948
      @diannadonnelly9948 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! I really just wanted to prove that I could do it :) and in the end, it really held onto the herby taste! I know some people who love the taste of cannabis but I'm actually not one of them so I gave it to a friend. What I wondered is if the cannabis would deter the action of the kefir or encourage it. I dare say it encouraged it! I write about Cannabis for a living and there are so many studies going on already. For instance, stem cells are miraculous. In studies, when they add cannabinoids to the stem cells, they proliferate like they're on steroids. I also wonder if our gut bacteria have endocannabinoid systems the way we and all mammals do.
      The health benefits wouldn't likely be different in the kefir but it was one more way to get it in and get it workin' :) I think my friend added chives and used it like cream cheese! It had a real kick to it too he said. He uses cannabis for chronic pain and it did indeed relieve his pain and helped him sleep through the night as well. Bring on the worldwide legalization!

      On top or on the side of your refrigerator is warm or in a cabinet by the stove! Keifer grains need sugar to eat to make the probiotics. Almond milk doesn't have lactose (milk sugar) so you have to add the date paste for the grains to eat honey works as well. But date paste is cheaper!

    • @LaurieEL

      Kefir is a great place to start for acne. It will help get some good bacteria following in her gut. I'm not sure what your daughter is eating....but you have to make your gut healthy to get rid of acne and that usually means changing what you are eating. Your gut needs prebiotics(fruits and veggies)to feed the probiotics(the good bacteria).

    • @LaurieEL

      You need dates for nut milks because they do not have lactose. Lactose is the milk sugar that kefir grains eat so you need to put date paste or honey into the nut milk to give the grains something to eat. If they don’t have it they will not make probiotics and they will eventually die

    I got my Kefir grains from amazon and started the Kefir Saturday at 5 pm , there wasn't much in the pk just looked like powder and a few small grains, looked like corn meal and powder. so I put them in 1 cup of milk, and put a coffee filter and secured it. I waited the 24 hrs like the directions said, so I strained it and there was only one grain, very small, so I put it in another cup of fresh milk, my temp is staying at 72* so now I am on my second day come Monday at 5pm. hopefully I will get more than one grain. I guess my question is will that one grain multiply into more??? if not then what should I do. I was sort of dissapointed when I opened the pk and saw more powder than grains, so will just take it one day at a time. should I have it at a higher temp? my house stay's at 72* unless I put it on top of the cabinet, any suggestion's.... thank's Nicky, if this doesn't work I will order from your lady friend.

      Alex Ruiz-Vasquez you need the date paste for the nut milks. Kefir grains feed on the lactose (milk sugar) in dairy milk.
