A dull chain for use during a review? Why? One would think you would want the saw in tip-top shape to show it off. Either way, the 462 is a beast of a machine-with a sharp chain.
I'm impressed by the 462! With 6kg, that saw has the same weight as my 560xp with 60cc and it's 600 gramm's lighter than the new 572xp, with slightly more displacement (72,2cc) and power in comparison to the husqvarna. If the saw holds up well it will be a game changer!
Whoever was felling them trees. Hats off to you sir. You can just tell when someone knows that their doing. One question. I’ve always been told to back cut at an angle after you do your face cut to make sure the tree falls in the direction you want. But I see here y’all back cut straight. If the tree is completely straight I’d understand doing it that way. Tips are welcome! Cheers. Safe sawin!
I have a ms 460 that I have run on synthetic 2 stroke oil its whole life ,never ever has it missed a beat,,I think she might be still going long after these ones are in the bin.
Troy Meredith I have a 440 mag that was beaten to shit when I got it The lower end is still strong after all that time I just did the side seal and base gasket and now I have new found compression!
The 461 is an amazing saw. I expect the 462 to be even better. I may personally never know as my 3yo 461 is still running strong, and seems to be getting stronger and stronger with each tank of gas.
Just got my hands on a 462, just recently made available in Canada. Going to try it out production falling timber. Still waiting for c85 3/8 to be available.
The same as a 661 construction, it's a super saw. Ill have the 662 for 2 months now I cut large three's every day. 50 cm bar with stihl rs 90 ° chain & 8 Best regards Jochem
I like stihl and husqvarna equally but I do think its kinda ironic that stihl has copied husky in the way of air injection and spring mounted anti vibe and it even revs more like a husky now, all of which is a good thing though. I also wonder about the power specs this new 462 claims it has more power then before though the 4.4 kw is the same spec as the 461
I think no matter what manufacturer you chose these days the emphasis on design looks to be getting more power from smaller engines so they can be made lighter and less fatiguing to handle. All petrol powered machines are being mounted on springs these days - it seems the best way to reduce vibration factors without the AV elements deteriorating too quickly.
462 bogs down under load, fuel-thirsty, and I have trouble keeping the chain tight maybe it's the Australian hardwood. for a 72cc it's a little liter starts up nice, love the carby air filter.
Curiosity is killing the cat. I cant help but wonder what the time through that log would be with the C85 chain on the 462. Any chance you are going to try out a loop of C85 on the stihl?
Hi, sorry for a late reply. We got the question at skogsforum.se as well. Unfortunately we do not have any more C85 at hand, we gave away them to members at skogsforum so more can do tests. Maybe we can do this later on.
I just brought one of these but I’m running a 25’ bar on mine just woundering what size bar the guy was running while he was fulling and de branching ?
my last comment was stupid. The 462 kick ass, love the throttle response. my favorite part is when there limbing and it just ripps through the branches. reminds of the 562
Durability weight and power is most important for me and stihl saw´s beat other brands for sure,i tried dolmars huskys and they went well for a only 1year.The Stihl saws went 3times longer...Husqvarna and Jonsered was really great saws in the past hq 266,jon.670 ,today stihl have no opponets.
I think if you like Stihl and have good dealer support in your area get the MS462. If you like Husqvarna and have good dealer support in your area get the 572XP. If you can swing it, get both!
Durability/reliability is the big question with all that weight taken out. I will hold on to my 044's for the time being. I wonder if it is possible to maintain the performance of the new Husky chain after it has been hand sharpened or if you have to grind it to maintain the cutter geometry.
kyle smith Hi, yes, that is a relevant question. On like 20 refuels there is impossible to judge on that. It looks rigid though and Lars-Erik compared with his MS361 as well. We think it looks promising but we all have to wait and see how it performs in the long run. We have hand filed C85 for some time now and it seems promising. We have four C85 out for test now and will come back with review even here!
kyle smith I thought the same ,to much plastic!.to light of construction .time will tell ,I still have my 2005 ms460.still my favourite after using both husky and still professionally ,I've had them all ms 200 s,husky 3120 ,husky 365. Husky 395.the husky 395 still a good saw for ripping fence posts, stihl 660 and stihl 044.
Well i am a husky guy, i just love my 372xp, it really runs well, but with this power/weight ratio of stihl.... my only concern is that the saw won't be reliable... compared to the 572xp there is a 0,6 kg gap... i wonder why.... any suggestions guys?
I'd like to ad that times through logs can show up inconsistencies in times. E.g. I've seen a stihl 462 beat a stihl 500i through a log on utube Which just shouldn't happen.the person was using same chain and bar on each saw. So what I'm saying is you obviously get different densities in wood along a log. You would have to do quite a few cuts to get an average time.
Excellent video. I have the 461 and it's a beast in the cut. Looks totally different than this saw. I'll have to keep an eye on this one and see how it lasts in the field. I just subscribed!

N-W NW One of our members at skogsforum has done some testing with a Dolmar 7910 with the new C85 saw chain from Husqvarna. Here is a vid: th-cam.com/video/DYLmDm4NgNM/w-d-xo.html Stay tuned for more!
Fact, heat and piston speed kills engines quicker, no matter how well there made. is the rebuild time difference worth the extreme power. Question is how well this the whole saw going to hold up over time, not just the engines top end. Quicker the saw the soon the top end will need to be rebuilt. A lot of time the faster saws like to pop out of the blue. lets play
I like the sound of chainsaws. Thats impressive cutting. I would love to be the BJ boy for the men during breaks in this line of work. Im totally for real
Stay away from Stihl 261- My Stihl 261 broke down after only 3 years of cutting firewood. Stihl said it was my fault because I didnt use the Stihl oil and alcylat gasoline! 026 was a much more robust saw and I had one for allmost 20 years and used shell oil and 95 gas mixed 2%. Not happy with the Stihl 261 and Stihl support.
Ola Norman shut up man. You never give up and its over. buy a new saw and be done with it. I just got a new 441 in your name sake. and I tell you what. the 462 is next to buy. ola norman the stihl hero. I mix bad gas and blame everyone else.

Fueled Iowa We're glad you like it!
Chainsaw 462 Very good.Hard business 🇬🇷🔞
I can't wait to carry out my own tests of the Stihl MS462 and the Husky 572xp!

Hi, yes, it is impressive.
What about the MS 500i? Is it worth waiting for or should the 462 do the job?
Whoever was felling them trees. Hats off to you sir. You can just tell when someone knows that their doing.

how much cutting do you do? in three year it should be past break in if you cut much.
Try running it on Aspen2 if you don't already! it goes like a rocket!!
Im a bucker and dont much care for the 461, it is quite weak. The old 660 way out performs new 461
Finally u came out with a review :) Love u guys . Keep up the good work !
Hi, thank you! Yes, unfortunally I managed to get a herniated disc (Do you say so?) in the neck early this autumn and that has mess things up.
Thanks for the video, the 462 looks to set a new standard.
Thank you for watching!
Just got my hands on a 462, just recently made available in Canada. Going to try it out production falling timber. Still waiting for c85 3/8 to be available.
Just test powerhead wth the same chain in the future to compare speeds. Fun video!
The same as a 661 construction, it's a super saw. Ill have the 662 for 2 months now I cut large three's every day. 50 cm bar with stihl rs 90 ° chain & 8

Jochem
Jochem, you have a 662? or meant to say a 462?
A question.
Of all the saws to choose from and doing the job you do.
Which is your choice.
Nice saw ,how does it compare to the Full injected model ?
I like stihl and husqvarna equally but I do think its kinda ironic that stihl has copied husky in the way of air injection and spring mounted anti vibe and it even revs more like a husky now, all of which is a good thing though. What are your thoughts on the ms 382? How does it compare to the ms 462 .
is it ported yet, the trottle reponse is slow on new stihls
Why such a low back cut? What is the deal with the plunge and wrap around cut?
Just curious, why do you guys use such small bars? In the U.S. you never see a Ms 461 with anything less than a 28" bar
Very good question! We've discussed this many times and our conclusion is that it is (1) tradition and (2) in general smaller trees.
I just got one new with 25"
Nice smooth power to weight ratio 22 in light bar
Easy decision get both
Aaron Stiles Yeah, thats one solution!

- awis318 - super antwort
6 Kg power head and 6 HP. Wow! Great power to weight ratio. BTW the sawyers in the video are real pros.
I wonder how this one will hold up against the 440 mag
462 bogs down under load, fuel-thirsty, and I have
trouble keeping the chain tight maybe it's the Australian hardwood. for a 72cc
it's a little liter starts up nice, love the carby air filter.

Just run RS and never look back!
Is a bether like 500 husvarna?
So which did you like better This or the new Husky 572?
I just brought one of these but I’m running a 25’ bar on mine just woundering what size bar the guy was running while he was fulling and de branching ?
That was 20" bar.
Nice review. Please try to match the audio levels. Your speech is kind of silent and then the chainsaw is really loud.
my last comment was stupid. The 462 kick ass, love the throttle response. my favorite part is when there limbing and it just ripps through the branches. reminds of the 562
Yes, its a beast
Can you run a c85 chain on the 462?
Can you test dolmar chainsaw?
N-W NW Hi, sure. They are not so well represented in Sweden but we can give it a try. What i have heard they perform very well.
Skogsforum.se on TH-cam ok thanks.. I wait for it
Is it necessary to keep blipping the trigger, or is the saw engine blipping on its own?
Hi, can you point out where in the video? Maybe just a bad habit?
People blip the saw to feed it oil before they dig in i do it all the time not nesasary in small wood but good habit big trees will dry bar fast
Great review!! Why the short bar on your saw? you are cutting pretty big trees, they make longer bars you know?
Thanks! 20" is standard setup in the EU market I guess.
How can i bought it and what is the cost
If the design proves durable it's a game changer
What is the price of stihl Ms462,70cc
I think if you like Stihl and have good dealer support in your area get the MS462. If you like Husqvarna and have good dealer support in your area get the 572XP. If you can swing it, get both!
Does anyone know if they are going to release this in the USA, if so when? Thank you for the video.

can i put the chain c85 on the 462
Mmm reliability 3 years down the line tho...im all for weight saving but i feel there are lots of electrics to go wrong.
Nice video! Where did you get the tshirt? Greetings from dk
Hi, you can get one here: shop.spreadshirt.se/skogsforum/?noCache=true
Thanks!
What size bar doesthe462 take
Well i am a husky guy, i just love my 372xp, it really runs well, but with this power/weight ratio of stihl.... my only concern is that the saw won't be reliable... compared to the 572xp there is a 0,6 kg gap... i wonder why.... any suggestions guys?
462 has smaller and lighter flywheel.
Bearings and crankshaft smaller than 572xp

comparing 2 saws with different chains and bars. Hmmmmm. Doesn't the husqvarna chain go on a still bar ? Hilsen Fra Denmark :-)
I need a 462.
Excellent video. I have the 461 and it's a beast in the cut. Looks totally different than this saw. I'll have to keep an eye on this one and see how it lasts in the field.

I Think someone should get Lars-Erik a pair of gloves! And the saw seems awesome.
Lumberjacks we can recommend Santa about that! 😉
I'm waiting for Dolmar chainsaw test
N-W NW One of our members at skogsforum has done some testing with a Dolmar 7910 with the new C85 saw chain from Husqvarna. Here is a vid: th-cam.com/video/DYLmDm4NgNM/w-d-xo.html
Stay tuned for more!

Only 4% an Stihl ultra hp oil no problem
I want one and I don't even need a bigger saw.
Husky or Stihl
Dont muck around get a husky for reliability. the stihls are break to often
Dean Corson as an owner of a stihl 361 i cannot agree, my 361 has in the 4/5 years that i have owned it never broken down. don't know about husky, but stihl is great quality
Take my 372 all day:)
Stihl all the way

Sorry the 462 😉
Super machine......
