I have had a 362 C-M for, maybe, 2 years, I think. Smoothest running saw I've ever owned. The computer controlled ignition adapts on the fly seamlessly. Beautiful piece of kit. 👍

Being an ex surveyor in Washington State, only used saws when working in the woods, which was a lot. We had Stihls, I always grabbed a 041, this was the early 80's. Company went t's up and I kept that saw, had until the early 2000's, great saw. Orange and white looks better than the ones that have to much orange.

I just purchased the ms462c-m a couple of months ago and love it. I use a 25" bar mostly, but go with a 32" bar when needed for the bigger rounds. The powerhead is so light it's hard to believe the saw is as fast as it is. It handles the 32" bar with no problem at all, but I do prefer the smaller bars as they are lighter and less work for the motor. The new tech in these saws are extremely helpful too. Enjoy guys.

Tony is going to love that 462. It is light for its size and packs a good amount of power too. I bought mine a few months ago and have ran almost 10 tanks of fuel through it and so far I love it! It has really really good throttle response and it very quick and snappy. Congrats to Tony on the saw and happy cutting! GNI

Drove there to get one and on the drive up found one 50 miles from home in the middle of no where at a dealership! Swore I would never buy a gas powered one again. I got a battery operated one, and it was the best thing I did. It got the name Greta. Then this Christmas the wife wanted a chain saw for trimming trees so I got one that would also suit me LOL and I got her a battery operated one also. Whatever the subject, Tony nails it! I've used the Stihl top handle, but I'd like to recommend the Red Max and the Echo. They seem more compact and more ergonomic when you're in the middle of brushy tree tops. Used the Red Max all day long when the temp. was 92F. No trouble! Much easier and more productive than my 028. Haven't used the Echo much yet, but it seems almost as fast and handy as a top handle should be. Always good to see Tony in the vids. Calm, well informed, good humor - Tony's da' man!! Chris knows!

@@man9170 If the higher price of the 500i is doable for your budget, that’d be my pick. Both are outstanding saws. I’d say the 500i has quicker throttle response and a bit more top end torque that gives it an edge in bigger diameter hardwoods or felling larger diameter trees. I run 28” light bars on my saws and feel you can’t go wrong with either one. Hope that helps you out.

I have the 220 battery saw with 14 and 16 inch bars. Like Tony was saying, the smaller saw for liming, marking, and trimming is very nice. Then I have the 500 w/ 25 inch bar for other cutting. I end up using the battery saw as much as I can because it’s so light and lower maintenance. Yeah, the battery setup is an all in thing. Also have a blower that uses the same battery. One battery charge lasts about as long as a tank of gas for the saw. Good stuff! So many options and brands and all. Ufdah, long comment. Sorry. ;)

You got a bigger saw, Tony got a smaller saw. His advice on the top handle limb saw is what I suggest also although mine is a pretty old Dolmar 4510. I know you don't do a lot of limb trimming, but the top handle is easily controlled when you wade into a downed tree and frees up one hand to pull/push limbs away without losing control of the saw. I'm not a fan yet of the battery saws, I don't feel like emissions will kill me and the trees don't care either. GNI

I stopped cutting logs from where the Log truck piles then. I spend the time sorting my logs by species and size. The logs are processed in a different area of the yard. Also, I don’t like cutting from a pile that is higher then my shoulders. Less chance of a log rolling down on you while cutting.

The ms 462 has the traditional carburetor that can be quickly adjusted with hand tools and is durable and easy to fix. The ms 462 CM has all the electrical gadgets and circuit boards and requires a specialized stihl computer technician to find out what needs replacement . As far as I've researched anyway. You wont see the ms 462 often it is a rare one. I think they made them recently because the Ukraine chip manufacturers went out of business due to the war. They have found another place to make chips so the CM is back for good. I got this from reading the arborist forum. I want the traditional carb 462. I have a 25 year old stihl and it works more reliable than my electrical chainsaw.

Stihl battery chainsaws come into their own when you have to get off an ATV or out of a 4wd to constantly cut trees and bushes off the track. It gets tiring pulling the rip cord each time. With the electric Stihl chainsaw you know that when you press the trigger it works.
When you cut a 5cm branch off a track and then get back onto/into your conveyance and drive 20 meters around a corner and have to get out again to do the same it gets tiring pulling that ripcord.
For forest workers who might cut 50 small branches and trees off a track in a day this is a big deal. A Stihl 200 saw battery will last all day.

Chris and Tony the Husqvarna t540i battery top handle saw is so much better than the Stihl battery saws that are garbage. In fact even the older Husqvarna t536i or t535i are garbage. The t540i or 540i if you want a saw, not top handle, are the only good professional battery saws but they are very pricey at $1100 dollars for the bundle. 2 batteries and a semi-quick charger. The battery lasts a long time so your fear of running out of power is a none issue as you can charge one while using the other. Amazing saws. For you though I would get the 550XP mark II for limping on the ground.

Good choice Tony. Great saw. I have a MS462C that I've owned for about a year and a half. I then bought a MS400C and a MS500i shortly after. I ended up selling the MS400C because I just wasn't using it...I guess I'm just a 2 saw guy. It's a great saw and a would have been perfectly happy with it if I hadn't bought the 500i. I run 25" bars on both the 500 and 462. My philosophy is the same as Tony's. I'm. I'm always "replacing" saws. I've gone through quite an evolution in the last 3 years to get to what I have now and I think I'm about done unless something breaks or the come out with something really new and game changing.
