    16:45 is what i was watching this video for. I had hoped i could diagnose my artifact issue more, as i got unlucky with a 2nd hand GPU purchase (ex mining card). I have a micrometer, heat gun, and soldering iron already luckily. Just can't be bothered to spend more money buying new memory on this GPU. Think i'm going to heatgun it and hopefully get a bit of life out of it.
    Great videos btw. Have subbed as very educational!

      That's not repairing. You can't repair flip chip GPU's with reflowing or reballing. It's just a temporary fix. But if you can reball a gpu sucessfully you can sucessfully replace a GPU chip.

    I have an issue with my 1080 ti gigabyte.
    Fans running led too, but no pic on the screen and card not detected, the core temp increase when i put my thumb on it, there is no burned component and i made a lot of measurements, but I don't know if what i measure is in the good range :(
    Any advice for this kind of problem ?

    You think the bios chip or memory could be the culprit when the GPU isn't recognized in the device manager and the resolution refuses to go past 1024x768? If I try to go past 1024 x 768, the screen artifacts.

    Hi @Zoras Tech, please also make a guide on how to identify which are the Bios chip, 1.5v chip, 1.8v chip, pex rail etc. This is the best video ever!

    • @GremaxLP
      @GremaxLP 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You dont have,1, 5V, the bios Chip always has an 25&20 or simular makings on it (kile 25h16 or so) and the most are vrom winbound.
      In all gpus as far i know, the 1V rail if its there, is on the pcie express Front side near the mem. 1,8V is mostly in the back of the card.

  • @amtpdb1

    When you are trying to measure voltages for reference, is it a good practice to have the card out and power the 12 volt plugs with a power supply? Would this be of any help in checking a board? If you put it in the computer and power it up, wouldn't the cpu start heating up right away so that you could not leave it on without a fan and heat-sink long enough to check voltages? I just subscribed, have you done a video card repair from the start showing what to check and why first and what you would expect to see and why? I have been looking for a channel that shows this with explanations as you seem to hear. I have purchased several broken cheap video cards trying to learn repair without any luck yet. 4 more boards to try to figure out coming next week! Thanks for the video and its content. Stay safe and well in these times.

    • @CmdrSoyo
      @CmdrSoyo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The card has to be properly powered up to measure voltages. If it is not running and just getting 12V in the power plugs then you will get just that. Only 12V on the power plugs. Everything else will stay turned off. As soon as there is voltage on a part it powers up and gets hot. Not much to do about that except be fast and maybe find something to cool it down for a few more seconds

  • @3d4arab
    @3d4arab 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much for the fast replay for my previous question. let me ask you another related question. i am thinking to turn on the card using only power supply and riser (No Motherboard) , i will connect the pcie power to card and raiser power and jumper the motherboard power connector pins 3+4 , i assume this will turn on the card and i will be able to measure all voltage rails. what do you think ?

    Hi, I loved your videos, lots of information there....
    So, recently i got a broken Zotac GTX 750 wich have odd behavior. the card didn't show anything on display monitor (no display), but VRM's voltages on GPU and Memory are present, wich are 0.9 v and 1.5 v (indicating VRMs are work, isn't?). The gpu get hot when i turn the PC.
    When i probing resistance between PCIe's 12V rail and ground, it was too high, around 1,7k Ohm ( other working GTX 750 with same PCB has 600-700 Ohms).
    But interestingly, when i flip the probe (red on ground and black on Caps near 12v pin) the resistance are same with working one, around 400 ohms.
    it's seems like a faulty diode, right? or another component can causing this too?
    thanks....

  • @3d4arab
    @3d4arab 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello and thank you so much for this valuable information. in minute 25:39 you mentioned that you turn the card on and start measuring different volts on the card. this is ok if the main chip is not getting hot , but in some case the card is not detectable but the main chip start to get hot and the card is naked (lol this make sense) so what you will do in this case , for how long you can keep the card without heatsink and fans while measuring the volts specially you need to measure in different places in the card in front and in the back ????!!!

    • @CmdrSoyo

      @@CmdrSoyo Hi Zoras, It is the best tutorial i see in internet! Thx 4 all. I have a problem with a vega 56 and not find the problem and i try this a lot because its my only graphic card... I try to follow your video step by step but I think its all ok. I go with a "tecnic" and he says that changes 2 fuses but broken again. (I pay for it but I think he doesn't do nothing). Its possible to contact with you to explain to you my problem? I'm sure that its reparable but i don't find it. Mi instagram is Korver32 or if you prefer with email say me.
      Thanks so much in advance and sorry for my english.

      @@victoresteve7236 Vega Cards are known to be incredibly hard to fix. The tech you talked to likely did change the fuses but there is very likely another problem and the fuses are just a symptom of the larger thing. I never worked with one of these so i sadly have no idea what exactly could be wrong with it

      @@victoresteve7236 you can go to the AdamantIT Discord (discord.gg/VtQDhcR3Q7). there are a lot of helpful people there. AdamantIT (Graham) himself is also there and he does repair for a living. i know the theory of repairs but never pulled something that's not a reflow off successfully. you would have a much better chance of getting help there

    Hey,I just wanted to say thank you for this very in depth video!So,I got an issue with a Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 570,the 4GB edition.The card was originally in my sister's pc for 3 years with not so good of an airflow and she preferred silence so it was running around the thermal threshold while she was gaming.So what this card does is,the screen goes black and i get an audio glitching effect,then it crashes and I get no display signal,but if i leave it off the pc for say like 2 or 3 days and install it again it works for a few days and it starts crashing again.While playing I get no artifacts and the card itself overclocks really well for a 570,If it powers up it can clock up to 1450/1480mhz stable on the core.Temps are in check with custom fan curves and never exceed 55-56C.Could it be a short of some sort or does the die itself need a reball?

    Totally confusing and self confusing types. I got same situation on gtx 1050ti and rtx2060 but I couldn't find a single tips from this video. Only fan spinning with no display after connecting to riser and external psu.
