  • In this video we take a first look at the InstantVap! A battery powered oxalic acid vaporizer! But it doesn't take any battery it takes power tool batteries!!! Totally portable, lightweight and heavy-duty!
    When it comes to Vaporizer's or Sublimator's portability is key! Carrying a generator around isn't ideal for all sites.
    This sublimator together with a few batteries and enough oxalic acid will easily go all day!
    Because its electric powered it heats up efficiently and fast so your always hitting the Oxalic Acid with the optimum temperature. No doubt this will kill varroa mites!
    Varroa mites is a big problem for honey bees and honey production. Whether your a small scale beekeeper or a Beefarmer you need to keep on to of varroa treatments.
    To take a look at the Vaporizer or to buy one you can visit their website here;
    www.instantvap.eu
    As a rough guide a 4 ah battery will will do around 30 hives. (depending on quality of the battery)

    Does it get clogged like most other sublimators due to the powered silica and glucose in Apibioxal

    • @instantvap5808

      The other tools are usually getting cloged because the outlet tube gets too cold, and the oxalic acid cristalises inside the tobe. This design is different as the heating elements are close to the otlet tube, straight, as well as it is short, and made from brass, not coper. Much better. I tested in 5-10 C-degrees, and had no problem with cloging, only when using through a tight hole in the wood, when the wood was wet, cooling it down too much.

    Do they do an extension for the nozzle? Most of my hives are poly, with landing boards, so I would be interested in seeing how far it will go in. Also does the end of the dosing applicator get hot when you use it. Are you able to remove it and dip it straight into the OA, or does it need to be left to cool down?

    Just checked your site and your heather honey is out of stock. Any new pulls on that soon? Also, how come heather honey has such a unique viscosity?

    • @gwenyngruffydd
      @gwenyngruffydd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We don't actually produce heather ourselves other Bee Farmers in Wales supplies us with it. We're hoping to get some in over the next few weeks. Its looking like a decent crop so it should be back in stock soon.
      Heather honey is a very special honey. The heather itself is very potent hence why the honey is like a jelly consistency. Its very hard to extract too.

      My second year using the Instantvap. Very good machine and works well but…in the UK we can only legally use Apibioxal which has 11% glucose and silica. The glucose burns to a hard black residue in the heating pan. By the time I get to the 5th hive the sublimation takes quite a bit longer. This means heating up to 230 takes longer and reduces battery voltage quickly. I have yet to treat 10 hives from one new 4ah battery, by then down to 15v and it shuts down. There are two solutions, the first is to undo the four screws to the crucible and scratch out the very hard blackened residue, clean the pipes then re-assemble, re-heat with a new battery and repeat. It’s a pain. The second is to use pure oxalic acid which isn’t legal. Using water to unblock doesn’t work. It creates steam but won’t blast out the concrete hard accretion on the heating cup. Very effective when the crucible is clean but Apibioxal causes significant blockages after 3rd - 5th hive. Can’t imagine how you can get 30 done in one go! Using pure O.A. probably.
