When you calculate no cords, inverters-generators for each yard and the fact that treatments with the Instant Vap run 18 seconds for 2 grams this unit saves a TON of time and does that without using a heat source that_ is too hot for Oxalic Acid.
Research by the University of Florida shows that a higher dosage like 4 grams kills varroa better than a 2 gram dose. However, that has not been approved by the EPA yet.
P.S. the barrel is BRASS not copper!! This is much stronger!

Good Morning Kamon! I've been using the Provap 110 for years now, and running extension cords out to the yard is a hassle to say the least. The fact that it also accepts DeWalt batteries? SOLD. I bought one of the ProVap Dispensers as well, it works nice, but it's actually not adjustable like this one is. Wishing you all the best as always, thanks for turning me on to another step-up in beekeeping equipment! :)

I'm happy to spend the money on this new unit as it's just too convenient to pass up. Plus, I already have a bank of 60V DeWalt Flex batteries :) Great minds! But the one Kamon has here he says it has a copper tube, the one I ordered has a brass delivery tube, maybe they are already improving them. :)

I am a growing beekeeper with an average of 50-65 hives and was about to change to a new vap applicator. I couldn't justify the $2000 unit & hated the thought of spending over $500 for the ProVap 110 knowing it needed a small generator to run it along with quality long extension cords. I hate hate hate them! This is a game changer! Batter powered Vap unit Spring & Fall with battery powered leaf blower in the Fall to blow my boxes clear of bees. Yup, ordered. It is a lot of clams but I have clients all over the place. This will help me get more treatments in before dark. You can only treat so many hives in a week before you have to go back to the beginning and get the second round in. I usually deal with 200 feet of cord and two car batteries. That is not time-efficient! It's always a mad dash. In addition to my apiaries and my client's, I have several beekeepers who pay me to come treat their bees so they don't have to buy the equipment. Hopefully, this pays for itself in one season. Thanks K&L!

@@kamonreynolds I have to say, I love this thing! So quick and easy... Yes, you have to keep it clean, which I find motivating to keep my gear organized and functioning properly. Janos told me that the conversion to Fahrenheit is 445º, which is where I find the best sublimation (mine came from Lorabbees so it's not the European Celsius version). Thanks for turning us on to this vaporizer! If I rush, I can get in four apiaries in an evening! It has already paid for itself!

Hey Kamon. I just purchased one of these. I run 3/8” openings on my solid bottom boards. You think it would sit fine on the size opening similar to the 3/4” opening?

I use one of these for 100 hives with the dewalt battery. Bought directly from from the maker in Hungary who is very responsive and helpful. I've done around 400 treatments and am delighted with it. I use the 5AH battery. It's very easy to use and I strongly recommend it.

Hi, Mark haworth, my boss also bought the provap upon my recommandation. The only problem is that now it has been 2 and a half weeks since we paid and we do not have any news about the delivery. We received only a confirmation of payment. We did not received a tracking number of any follow up after that. We reached to them numerous time but we did not received any sign of life. We are in Laval, Qc, Canada. Did it happen to you or somebody else also?
Just to be clear I’m in no way associated with the company but I was told the product had been very popular and there was a backlog. I think they were moving to bigger premises to cope with demand. That’s all I know.
I agree buy direct bot from rob that guy is not a reputable person in my mind..very cheaply made oa vaprizor is a joke and clogs up..wouldn’t ever purchase anything g after his cheesy response of you gotta heat tip up with torch..then after our conversation sells an upgrade for vaporizer..

Hi all! As of April 2022, Provap actually does offer a 18V version of their vaporizer (with plenty of choice for battery brand support). It also includes a dispenser in somewhat the same fashion as this one. Check it out!

What parameters do you look for in the winter to treat with the vaporizer? 50 deg F daytime? Any concerns with it going below freezing the night after? Thanks for taking a moment to say hi at NAHBE!

Thanks Kamon for the review. Couple of questions: Do you close off the hive when treating? What's the lowest temp you can treat without generating condensation?
Hi condensation isn't a problem with this product as sublimes (goes from a solid to vapor, back to a solid.) However, it is best to treat when the temps are above 45 degrees Fahrenheit because the bees will be less clustered. 50 degrees would be better. It can be used at cold temps but the tighter the cluster the lower the kill rate
@@kamonreynolds My concern was condensation from the hot vapors entering the 45-50 degree hive. Also, do you close off the hive for a period of time to hold the vapors?

At almost $500 dollars I’m wondering what you might suggest that would be cheaper for hobbyist or smaller side liners, 10-50 hives? What about the propane items like Gas-Vap? What do you think?

Just wondering why I would need a second plunger? I'm probably going to order one to pick up at the conference but it seems I can just refill a single plunger right away and drop it into the vaporizer unless I am missing something?
No, you are right, it is actually slower to swop them.
If you have mixed small and large colonies, and you want to treat them with different amount, it can be faster if you have pre-set plungers.

I'm only a second year bee keeper, today I used a oxalic acid wand for the first time today. Was going well then there was a lot of smell from burning bees, I panicked a bit and stopped. Will burning bee smoke harm the bees?!! Cheers
I have had mine for a little over a month and nowit doesn't work correctly! As soon as battery is connected, it goes on and does NOT stop at set pint. Up to 800 degrees!

Many spreading from Hive to hive due to drift, robbing, flowers and more. They spread fast and every hive in the US has them

I have a small hole drilled in the rear of my hives, thus not contend with the bees .
Really enjoyed the review, but when you give measurements like temperature, give them in the imperial system of measurement also. There is a lot of people that doesn't relate to the metric system
These are made in Hungary who use Celcius, so the temp gauge will be in Celcius. You don’t need to do any conversions at all, just set to 230 and go.

Does anyone know if this would work with 3/8" entrances? It looks like it would have to be angled down for the tube to fit into a 3/8" entrance
I've been using a propane pesticide fogger for years with no cord needed.
Propane powered yard foggers work great, with a mix of vodka, and oxalic acid. Rinse the fogger after., never use poison in it.
Best part is use can use the excess vodka with some OJ to keep your vitamin C level up!🤣
Hello my friend. Can oxalic acid vapor be used at 45°C? There are open and closed larvae
it cannot. the OA rapidly cools and i have never seen it effect brood even at 250c

They make a metal (not sure what type) bottom board, that fits the apimaye perfectly. It has a dish type thing with a hole in it. We want to treat today and don't have the special metal bottom board. Sooooo...I'm not sure what our plan is 🤣.
Kamon do you happen to know what Model Dewalt batteries will work with this unit? I’M INTERESTED!!! LOROBBEE just has the voltages listed.
Most DeWalt batteries work. The old "stem" types won't work but all the batteries I had in the video do. I had a 2 am hour 6ah and 9ah.
The big battery I used is called a 20/60 volt 9ah "flexvolt". As I used it in the video it only went up to 20 volts on the voltage gauge.
DeWalt says alot of weird stuff for advertising but it really is all good for this unit.
The instant vap is made to deal with all DeWalt batteries that fit like the ones I had in the video

That's a great idea but the price is pretty high. It doesn't come with a battery or charger :o Maybe next year when we double the hive count.
Been using this and I love the cordless use. However today about a dozen bees came out of the hive “frosted” with oxalic and died. This concerns me as the queen is often below in that same area. Seem it would easily kill her like the workers I just nuked.
Yup I just got the compact version of this unit this year and I had the same concern after seeing the “frosted” bees.. sure enough, lost 2 queens after first treatment.

There’s a machine I forget the name of the company but all the guys have really long beards and it works by butane you heat up the chamber with the butane and the flame is adjustable and I seen that it works very good you just have to every so often take the front part off put it in water to cool it and then go to the next hive I like that one you could do like 65 hives before you have to refill it and you refill you don’t have to throw it away or anything like that check it out

@@kamonreynolds I have vented bases on my hives and have made a board that slides in underneath. I simply close the front with a damp towel and slide the board in with the vaporiser vand fitted and go from there. With this unit, I would have to somehow seal underneath the hive, wouldn’t I?

I read and watch a lot of videos on treating with oxalic acid but I have never heard anyone mention the effects of vaporizing on hive beetles or wax moths. What are your thoughts? Could vaporizing slow or kill wax moths and beetles? It would be great to kill two (or three) birds with one stone!
Oh w0w! Wax Moths - I Know what they are, Now! Bees moved into Screech Owl box i made, Then moved out.

How many grams can it burn at a time. Could it burn two doses of 4 grams at the same time?
I think it can do 5 grams possibly six but it may wear out the spring a bit
I've had pretty good luck with the gas vap which requires no electricity and is about as fast. I do really like knowing the temperature which you just have to guess at with the gas vap.

a gram a deep is the legal dose in the USA currently. Bee researchers are trying to get the dosage raised as research shows it is safe for bees and better at mite killing
@@kamonreynolds The vape wand I have recommend s a quarer of a teaspoon per brood box. I guess I would have to measure out how much that is in weight to confirm what treatment amounts to use.
Sublimation of oxalic acid occurs at 157-189c. If the temperature is higher, formic acid is obtained. Why is the temperature set to 230c? Tnx
For the Dewalt batteries, they have the 20 volt XR batteries, and the 20/60 volt Flexvolt batteries. I see that Kamon is using the 9 ah Flexvolt battery. Does the number of hives that can be treated depend on whether the battery version is 20 volt vs. the 20/60 v Flexvolt battery? I want to buy the correct batteries to treat about 100 colonies per day. If the 20 volt battery version at 6 ah does not perform the same as the 20/60v Flexvolt at 6 ah, I'd like to know the difference, if known. Thanks
the whole 60 volt thing is a marketing ploy i have recently learned. as you can see in the video it only reads a max a 20v on the voltage meter. all the batteries i showed work great. the bigger the AH (amp hours) the more treatments you get.
1 AH goes to heating it up and every AH after that is worth 10 treatments at 2 grams a pop
The tool is made in Hungry - there are a selection of battery brand options and voltages eg18v dewalt. I've just watched this video ... I think the day you posted it is the day i ordered a sublimox vaporiser which I've already used so cant return. If only I'd been a subscriber before now I'd have made a different choice...😔

Man, if they came up with one that you could use snowjoe/sunjoe 24v batteries on i'd get it. All of my yard tools, leaf blower, trimmers, pole saw, and mower that I use around my hives are from them.
There are adapters out there for some things perhaps there is one for your type of battery
@@kamonreynolds Yeah did a search to see if there was one and found nothing. I do have a 3d printer and could make one but doing up the design would take me a bit as I'm relearning how to do 3d design work. Last time i did any sort of cad stuff it was on a mac classic. lol

Does the unit use 20v dewalt? If so will 18v power it?
@@scottreese5492 yes, the 18v and 20v are the same inside. It’s a marketing thing. Just can’t use the old old battery’s that have the tall stem.
Dang, i recently got the macro vap.
If you haven't used it i will upgrade you, just have to send it in and ill bill for the difference. IF you have used it i would have to list it as a refreshed unit so it would have to be a number based on condition if that makes sense.
