How To Use The InstantVap! Full Tutorial For Beekeepers. Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

- In this video I have Duncan Simmons the Main Agent for InstantVaP in the UK. We take a look at some new products they have to compliment the InstantVap.
As mentioned many times the InstantVap is a great oxalic acid vaporizer. Its designed to kill varroa mites very efficiently! Oxalic acid sublimation is a very effective treatment for varroa mites.
We treat bees with Oxalic Acid vaporisation in this video together and make very light work of the job.
Its important to note if your in the UK the approved treatment is ApiBioxal. And not Oxalic Acid.

Nobody has had any problem with the O- rings the inventor said. He just gives two extra in case. I heard mineral oil was bad for O- rings somewhere and also that it was best to remove battery when purging the device. Maybe none of that even matters though.
How would this work on some poly hives that have a large landing board at the front that can’t not be removed? Is there an extension piece that can get past these landing boards? Or do you have to drill a hole in the back of the hive floor and use with silicone cap?
I have Maisemore polys with the long landing board. And abelo poly too.
Works great on both. The battery is at the back so just goes in level no hindrance from the landing board.
Poly nucs, i have cut corrax varroa trays to fit under the nucs and just strap them in place. Also had no issue with the nucs works great

Great products. I was actually about to design and 3D print a mould for making a silicone cover. Also very useful for at the end of your vaping, stops nozzle burning anything

Looks like you'll have to print them as you can't buy the silicone cover or water cleaning cap on their website.

Hey Duncan-- great to match a face to your Facebooks posts- I'm in the United States... I've got Lorrobbes here as our distributor.
Received mine last week. I had to get a couple of 5.5 AH batteries for it. My existing 2AH ones just werent enough. Having said that, the Vap is excellent, it really pumps out the gas so well. It's expensive - but I expect many years use and the Vap is incredibly simple to use - and it's FAST.

Hi guys. One question, since you are also using Apibioxal as the rest of the Europe is. How many hives can you treat before the device clogs up since Apibioxal contains sugar and sillica? I managed to do about 40 hives then i had to take apart the machine to clean it thouroughly since there was caramel buildup in the heating chamber due to the impurites of the Apibioxal.

40 ish sounds about right.
Just so people know, the Instant vap doesn't work with DeWalt power stack batteries. Normal DeWalt are fine, so don't do what I did and buy a new power stack.

How many grams of Api Bioxal did you use? How can you tell when its "done"-- by watching the temp drop?? so you know when it time to move to the next hive...and not interrupt the treatment in the middle of vaping it?
1g for nucs 2g for full size hives.
Once it stops smoking you can instantly reload and do the next hive.

my bee's are pulling in the pollen today feb 14th, big yellow bunches of pollen on their legs , is it willow or gorse etc?

That's a handy piece of kit for large amounts of hives, no batteries to carry about.
Do you have to supply your own battery, or is it available on the website?
Supply your own batteries. The idea is you pick the brand of batteries you already own so it saves you from buying more batteries
If you don't already own one of the following
Parkside X20V-TEAM;
Einhell Power X Change;
Metabo;
Makita LXT;
Milwaukee M18;
Bosch GBA 18V;
Dewalt 18V
They can be bought from hardware stores/amazon/screwfix/toolstation (don't forget to also buy a charger). Parkside is Lidl and is likely to be the cheapest but their batteries may not always on sale. Einhell probably the next cheapest and are sold by Toolstation. You can also buy "badaptors" for using a battery on a different "platform".
Toolstation are currently selling 2x4.0ah batteries for £70. Lidl/Parkside are around £30 for for a 5.0ah (the bigger the amp hour the more charge the battery can hold and the longer it will run the vap)

Just ordered mine a few days ago, Christmas gift to myself!!! I see there is a mark 2 coming out that’s slimmer and lighter!! Still prefer the look of this version tho, the new one looks less sturdy!

Hi gruff, what dosage do you use per single brood box, I’ve read 1 gram but people seem to say between 2-4 grams?? Thanks!
@davidmcdowell2984 yea gave the nucs 1g. But there is research ongoing about what the dose should be. I’m not an expert on it.

Cleaning is the biggest pain. I would love a cartidge system for water... that way it doesnt have the cap pop risk.

How would this work with poly hives that have the fixed landing board extending out the front?
One comment has already stated it’s ok with the maismore poly hives (they have fixed landing boards too).
What hive have you got?
@@gwenyngruffydd Paynes poly hives. I just can't see how it would fit in snugly with the landing board in the way
