      Hi afzal. I have A-level grades: ACC in Accounting, mathematics and French(in that order). I'm about to start studying BSC computer science at University of east anglia. I have a ton of work experience in investment banking such as insight days, virtual internships etc. Would it be wise for me to apply for spring weeks?

    Only recently stumbled upon this channel, but my god have I been looking for content as specific as this. Absolutely loving the relevant content! Would it be possible to give advice specifically on video interviews? I feel as though many students struggle with this rather new assessment format, in particular the time limited answers! Massive thanks

    Hey Afzal, universities here in Germany nowadays tend to discredit the investment banking and consulting scene. Their proclaimed reason is that those 2 divisions will be replaced by IT. What’s your view on this ? Is IB still as admirable as it was 20 years ago?

    • @JabbaJohnson
      @JabbaJohnson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Deniz WORLDOFBB you will make more money and become more successful in IB in comparison to IT, without a doubt, but the work hours can get brutal

    Hi Azfal! I got one simple question whose answer I think could help a lot of students like me to find their professional path: When you first started doing applications for the investment banking world, were you really interested in the financial sector? Or you were attracted to the shiny things surrounding it and knew that the salaries were high, making it possible for you to pursue your own business once you earned and learned more? To summarise, have you ever seen the financial sector as a workplace for your entire life or did you just know that it was a stepping stone for future projects? Also I want to know how genuine was your REAL PASSION for the sector. Because I am not sure if what moves me is the right motivator.

    Hi Afzal. Loving your videos they’re very beneficial. Currently i’m a sixth former and I understand that usually people enter investment banking as an ‘investment’ (no pun intended) and so they can leave with the experience and money available. Do you believe this is a good option to do? Or do you think maybe I should go into accountancy where it has less hours. Is it hard to build your way up in accountancy?

    • @AfzalHussein
      @AfzalHussein  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, thanks! I would recommend you to speak to as many people (use LinkedIn) in both (and other fields) to find out what they say and hear their experiences. Don't worry about what sounds great or not so great. You need to pursue a career you find interesting, are 'suited' to and can learn from. You have time on your side so my advice would be to research as much as possible (start NOW) and you'll naturally be ahead of your peers when it matters most i.e. during university when you're applying to internships, etc. Have an open mind and ask yourself what you think you're good at, what you want to do as a career eventually and how hard you are willing to work to achieve the goals you set yourself. Hope that helps! :)

    I've decided that I'm going to choose Maths and Economics for my A levels but I still cant decide on the last subject to choose and i do want a career in investment banking or the financial and marketing sector. But a lot of people have different opinions on which would be a good subject to pick. What do you think would be the best choice out of spanish geography business or computer science?

I understand most I bankers etc get burned out after 2-3 years as analyst and some leave to other careers or stay 4-5 years for associate then leave. However, why not do another business or set up a VC/PE company or move to a hedge fund etc? Seems more productive than sat there talking about these subjects?
