Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others. As an investor, you should've known that by now that nothing beats experience and that's final. Personally I had to reach out to a stock expert for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to $35k, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I'm buying again.

Amidst economic uncertainty, financial resilience is crucial. However, my pressing issue is optimizing my idle $240,000 reserve, which has been stagnant for far too long. Despite my long-term perspective, inflation is eroding my savings and daily market losses are eating into my portfolio's value. I urgently need a strategic solution to revitalize my investments and safeguard my wealth.

Investment bankers work with something called Mergers and Acquisitions, which is essentially companies buying other companies. Banks earn lucrative fees and interest by providing lending facilities to the M&A.

Not all of us provide lending facilities to the M&A. Some do. Those are called full-service investment banks. Many players in the Middle Market stray away from full-service investment banks because there is an inherent conflict of interest. Someone like JPM isn't incentivized to provide the best valuation or transaction/fairness opinion on a buy-side deal within a FSG group when the buyer is using JPM financing.

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

Back in 2013 an intern looking to place full-time at Bank of America basically died because of exhaustion and not taking care of himself. A friend of mine was ibanking out of college starting at 7 am and getting home at 11 pm. To manage debts effectively, start by paying off high-interest ones like credit cards to save money. Also, save up an emergency fund for unexpected expenses. Once high-interest debts are paid down and you have savings set aside, consider investing in things like stocks and bonds for long-term growth. This can help you earn more than you pay in interest on remaining debts. Getting advice from a financial advisor can make these steps easier and tailored to your situation.

Former partner at mid-market i-bank here. This is what I did daily...
    1) hunt for new prospects to a) raise capital, privately or publicly b) restructure balance sheet
    2) develop process (often standardized but unique to every prospect) to meet promises => ex: raise $100MM in growth capital
    3) run process with A&A's doing the excel, powerpoint work
    4) daily meetings with client
    5) develop CIM
    6) market CIM to a) financial b) strategic investor c) stock offtakers
    7) structure deal
    8) close and collect % of total deal size
    That's it in a nutsell

For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $130k in passive diversified safe-haven assets, Up 358k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

The best way I can put it, investment banking (at least for entry-level/analysts) is essentially playing with other people's money and assets for a chunk of the pie ($), at the expense of insanely long working hours and high levels of stress from your seniors. I don't think it's a bad place to start a career, specially if you're doing it at one of the large banks, but staying there your entire life as Steph Mui suggested would be a complete waste of your energy and youth/middle life.

    • @realmadridworld1688
      @realmadridworld1688 ปีที่แล้ว +2

6:57 great point by Liam Killingstad because it also speaks to the future of the profession. It will take many years, but automation will eventually take over the entire set of responsibilities handled by an investment banker analyst/summer analyst. This will eventually devalue the professional perspective on this job and its requirements, as Steph Mui said right before him.
