Investment bankers work with something called Mergers and Acquisitions, which is essentially companies buying other companies. Banks earn lucrative fees and interest by providing lending facilities to the M&A. These are very complex transactions involving law firms, banks, proxy firms and advising firms. Hopefully that was somewhat clear!
Not all of us provide lending facilities to the M&A. Some do. Those are called full-service investment banks. Many players in the Middle Market stray away from full-service investment banks because there is an inherent conflict of interest. Someone like JPM isn't incentivized to provide the best valuation or transaction/fairness opinion on a buy-side deal within a FSG group when the buyer is using JPM financing.
@@segamai Investment bankers are basically like used car salesmen, except they help sell companies. Most people can figure out how much a car is worth; figuring out what a company is worth takes a lot more effort. The bankers are similarly paid on commission, except instead of commission on a $25K Corolla they're getting commission on a $20 billion transaction.
As a former associate IB is: completely admin. People use excel but not as much because everything is done via their softwares. Investing in the stock market has HISTORICALLY provided higher returns than other forms of investment. According to Morningstar, the average annual return for the S&P 500 index, which measures the performance of 500 large-cap stocks, was approximately 10% from 1926 to 2020.
Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are alot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.
The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

From the little insight I have into ibanking at big firms, I feel like this video did not quite capture the awfulness of the industry for entry level workers so I thought I’d add. Back in 2013 an intern looking to place full-time at Bank of America basically died because of exhaustion and not taking care of himself. A friend of mine was ibanking out of college starting at 7 am and getting home at 11 pm. She was absolutely miserable, but held on because of the prospect of promotion and advancement after 2 years. 10/10 would recommend other career paths

To manage debts effectively, start by paying off high-interest ones like credit cards to save money. Also, save up an emergency fund for unexpected expenses. Once high-interest debts are paid down and you have savings set aside, consider investing in things like stocks and bonds for long-term growth. This can help you earn more than you pay in interest on remaining debts. Getting advice from a financial advisor can make these steps easier and tailored to your situation.

The best way I can put it, investment banking (at least for entry-level/analysts) is essentially playing with other people's money and assets for a chunk of the pie ($), at the expense of insanely long working hours and high levels of stress from your seniors. I don't think it's a bad place to start a career, specially if you're doing it at one of the large banks, but staying there your entire life as Steph Mui suggested would be a complete waste of your energy and youth/middle life.
6:57 great point by Liam Killingstad because it also speaks to the future of the profession. It will take many years, but automation will eventually take over the entire set of responsibilities handled by an investment banker analyst/summer analyst. This will eventually devalue the professional perspective on this job and its requirements, as Steph Mui said right before him.

The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading.
Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others, as an investor, you should’ve known that by now, nothing beats experience and that’s final, personally I had to reach out to a market analyst for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to a million, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I’m buying again
How can I participate in this? I sincerely aspire to establish a secure financial future and am eager to participate. Who is the driving force behind your success?

“Capitalism is when, uhh, banks exist.”
I know leftoids aren’t usually the brightest, but seeing them whine about things that don’t exist is so funny to me. No wonder so many of them are mentally ill.
And less SA allegations than channel 5

Investment bankers work with something called Mergers and Acquisitions, which is essentially companies buying other companies. Banks earn lucrative fees and interest by providing lending facilities to the M&A.
These are very complex transactions involving law firms, banks, proxy firms and advising firms.
Hopefully that was somewhat clear!
They are basically paid for lending the stress involved in running the business
Not at all, thanks!
I thought they worked in Murders and Executions, according to a documentary put out in 2000.
You just need to know excel just to double check that the software matches your manual model. Now with AI it is automated. IB is about sales and admin. You need to know someone to get you in. That’s it.

Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic.

I would appreciate it if you could receive some advice, please. I'm new to stock/crypto investing. Can you guide me on how to do this?
I've been looking for an expert trader to help me manage my investment. Can anyone recommend a good operator?
In these uncertain times, it's more important than ever to have a solid understanding of how to manage your finances, invest wisely and navigate economic downturns. But my primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $240k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings are lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains everyday, I need a remedy.
If you need advice, consider speaking with a financial expertise. Don't get me wrong, you can do it on your own, but financial advisors have a lot more knowledge and expertise in this area.
you are completely right, Advisors have information and paths that are not disclosed to the public.. I profited $560k in 2022 under the tutelage of my Fiduciary-counselor. Am I selling? Absolutely not.. I am going to sit back and observe how this all plays out.
I would like to ask, how did you achieve it? I've been trying to stick with index funds. I feel these new interest rate hikes could crash the economy. I'm looking for a better investing strategy, as I have a lump sum that inflation is steadily eating up.
Certainly, there are a handful of experts in the field. I've experimented with a few over the past years, but I've stuck with ‘’Teresa L. Athas’’ for about five years now, and her performance has been consistently impressive. She’s quite known in her field, look-her up.

The production value on this just makes it more hilarious 😂
To manage debts effectively, start by paying off high-interest ones like credit cards to save money. Also, save up an emergency fund for unexpected expenses. Once high-interest debts are paid down and you have savings set aside, consider investing in things like stocks and bonds for long-term growth. This can help you earn more than you pay in interest on remaining debts. Getting advice from a financial advisor can make these steps easier and tailored to your situation.
Investing resources and making good returns is not as easy as it seems, there are a lot of things that aren't well taught in schools. The market crisis gave me my first millions, when people stayed away from hard times I made the most of it..many credits goes to Zachery Micah Demers

I did the lump sum buy at first, 125k into SCHD, 75k TSLA, 25k VYM, 25K VUG. Now I'm dca buying roughly 2k every week of whatever is on sale, and looking to add more tech positions to my portfolio. I'm looking to hold long term 15 - 20 years, so hopefully my lump sum buy in doesn't bite me in the ass long term.
I was self-managing my portfolio but suffered heavy losses in 2022 and i knew i couldn't continue like that, so i consulted a fiduciary advisor. By restructuring and diversifying my $1.2M portfolio with dividend-paying stocks and ETFs, Mutual funds and REITs, I significantly boosted my portfolio, achieving an annualized gain of 28%.

2) develop process (often standardized but unique to every prospect) to meet promises => ex: raise $100MM in growth capital
3) run process with A&A's doing the excel, powerpoint work
4) daily meetings with client
5) develop CIM
6) market CIM to a) financial b) strategic investor c) stock offtakers
7) structure deal

Brooo the subtle things spread across the whole video..!! Chef's kiss golden ong.🤣🤣
i love that some guy just took a picture with you
I really hope that the dude in the stereotypical vest at 0:30 wasn’t planned or staged 😂
I mean, its america, probably not staged
it's ridiculously common.
@@Incroachment I know, it just seemed too convenient for the video that I actually laughed as soon as I saw it.
I work at an investment bank, they literally sell those vests in the office
@@moazim1993😂😂🤣
I kept replaying minute 0:33 because I just enjoy the reactions of the three girls who are passing by
They were loving it
