This was the coolest band in Australia in the 80s, no doubt about it. I'm on a nostalgia trip at the moment, listening to and watching all their stuff every few weeks. I'm 53 and I really miss those days.
I like that she didn't mute our great accent. Love the way Chrissie always sang in an Aussie accent. No Holds Barred. Such high quality audio for a 1984 vid too
In all of music, there has never been another Christina Amphlett... My mum had me when she was 19. A never was that always has been. LOVE RIP CHRISSY YOU ROCKED In all of music, there has never been another Christina Amphlett...
Saw them at Tas Uni around 1990. (Chrissie may have pee’d on the front row of the mosh pit). Crazy good. Just reminded me, Spy V Spy played around that time. Heh heh. Good times
I have loved the Divinyls since I was a a kid. I am now passing it on to my 7yr old daughter who also thinks that Chrissy Amphlett is the greatest rock chick ever to grace the stage with her presence, no-one will come close. RIP
In all of music, there has never been another Christina Amphlett... Tough song done OH so good Thank You Chrissy/Thank You Mark & THANK YOU!!!!! I like that she didn't mute our great accent.
Everything about Chrissie Amphlett was awesome. She looked amazing, She sang amazing, She performed amazing, she was amazing! Never gonna be another like her and Australians were blessed enough to call her ours!!!!
If you were ever lucky enough to see them perform this song... they took it to a whole new level, it was like a sonic assault on your senses, an assault on everything "establishment" It makes me want to throw up when i see the people that are revered as "stars" these days. Divinyls were real. Chrissie did whatever she wanted, she was truly talented and creative, an artist of the highest order, Mark was a fantastic guitarist, im lovin his hair do in this clip, a handsome man
About 6 times I saw them in Melbourne. NOTHING, nobody compares. I do love Magic Dirt and The Superjesus, maybe it's time and age, but Divinyls on stage - the atmosphere - wow!
Such high quality audio for a 1984 vid too In all of music, there has never been another Christina Amphlett... Bombay Rock, Brunswick, Chrissy, you were the best, respect.
Classic song and video... What a performer and vocal stylist Chrissie was. So sassy and charismatic. Sadly missed. I think this just might be my very favourite pop song from the Eighties. The song's lyric partly borrows from Dickens' classic novel 'Hard Times' ... "Hard-headed, solid fisted, hard times... A few facts of facts ~ Such advantages!" .. You tell it girl.
Yep...That was part of their appeal. Another Aussie star who was under-publicised and under-appreciated ! Also a very very brave woman ! RIP Chrissie. Only the "good die young"
I'd just started in radio when this song came out as a B side. I was actually put onto it by a listener. One of those "role reversal" moments that I will forever be thankful for! Anna Agius from Melton Victoria, wherever you are, thank you!
How'dya get this far Let's go!! Chrissy and Johnette Neapolitano...2 of the greatest frontwomen of rock . Have been a fan of Chrissy's since the 80's. Rock In Peace, chicky💜
@Warren552011 I never saw the picture at the airport. I only saw the one of them together at the gym in Chrissy's autobiography. Yes, I remember she also mentioned the Go-Gos in her book. They toured with Joan Jett but she doesn't offer any opinions on her music. She says, like everyone, Debby Harry and Blondie were influential ,and also says Donna Summer was great.
@Warren552011 Oh nice👌🏻. Some awesome taste you have there. I was a MASSIVE fan of hers when I was younger to the point of having my hair like hers and using her singing technique. I'm still a big fan and still have the same ol' hairstyle etc so I guess I'll never grow out of it🙃. All of my Divinyls collection's on tape though so I can't crank them in the car unless it's via TH-cam. These days I cruise more to the sounds of Alice In Chains,Tool etc. I'll be a headbanging 80 year old granny before too long😆😃🤔☹️😞😢
@Warren552011 I've never heard of them. I don't think I have anyway. With a name like that I should've remembered them though. It's cool they're from WA👌🏻. I've always been into metal and rock. As a primary school aged kid I'd be listening to Faith No More while everyone else liked shit like Madonna etc. I've always been the "bogan/goth" of the group apparently😏. I have Tool's 'Undertow' and still listen to it. It's actually on rotation in the car stereo atm.. along with Alice In Chains' 'Dirt', Nirvana's 'Icon/Greatest Hits' and a couple of Queens of the Stone Age CDs. I crank Tool's Eulogy, Stinkfist, Opiate etc from my TH-cam playlist alot though. Very talented band and can't wait to hear the fullnew album of theirs when released
I love this lady and her music, such a loss to Australian music RIP Chrissy, can't wait to be in the pearly gates with you and hear your great voice again muah xoxo.
"I grew up and went to school, they tried to make me a bloody fool. I woke up and left that place..." Haha, she went to my old high school, can confirm.
Lyrics 🙃 How did you get this far?! Let's go! How did you get this far?! I was 17 at the Coggee bay hotel in 1984 girls dancing in cages slung from the roof Chrissy just rockin it on stage didn't realise how special it was at the time just clad I was there
Glad you were clad too: Getting naked in front of Chrissy woulda been a bit weird.. Hey we all dreamed about it but you couldn't really do it.. She'd kick you in the balls.
They were amazing. I like Mark's German Airmarshall unifom (is it?) in this clip, They are like Australia's Pretenders Chrissie Amplett and Chrissie Hinde, great women of rock.
Chrissy was nothing short of brilliant in her use of accent to add depth and charm to a lyric. One of my favourites is the beautifully powerful ''I'm Jealous''....She was remarkable in many ways.
@ chris williams.......Absolutely, well said. As much as I love their albums, the Divinyls were something else live. Great musicians coupled with Chrissy's manic performances, and her unique voice made for a concert to remember.
Está buenísimo este tema,y tiene muy buen sonido, que pena que no haya un vídeooficial,la amo Christy en paz descanse,🙏🇦🇷🇦🇷 pero era por el tema take chance
I recently saw a compendium of Divinyls video clips put together by Mark McEntee on Rage music program. I hadn't seen it before but it's now my favourite.
Im with Warren552011 Grossman over Paul. Desperate is still my favorite album/cd OY!!! "I grew up and I went to school, they tried to make me a bloody fool. I woke up and I left that place....." LoL Sooooo True! I went to a British school in Nicosia, Cyprus, complete with uniforms (Like Chrissy wore in the early 80's on stage) When we moved to the USA, the school administration in California wanted to put me 1 or 2 grades ahead. My parents said no, they wanted me to be with kids my own age, but later on they realized that that decision had been a mistake.

Longtime fans looking to get blown of their feet by this powerful band heard "touch myself" and said WTF...Happened to a band I was working at same time.. @PartesClasicas In that part she says "are there any advantages, oi". She sings with a strong Australian accent. I also find some parts hard to understand!
I am from the United States... South Carolina, and the Divinyls are my all time favorite band. She was awesome!!

I like that she didn't mute our great accent.
Love the way Chrissie always sang in an Aussie accent. No Holds Barred.
Such high quality audio for a 1984 vid too
Been blown away for 41 years by this incredible band. Makes candy asses out of todays so called artists !

Chrissie's "rat race" run/dance is the greatest thing of all time
Pretty sure TISM ripped it off in at least 2 stage performances:)
Agreed.
J Hutch Kate Bush did it before Chrissy ("Suspended In Gaffa" 1982), although Kate's wasn't quite as entertaining.
She’s still a gem in my memory
She will ever be the Queen ❤🎉
Nobody could ever possibly fill her shoes ... love and respect from Kalamazoo Michigan.
Wow no kidding, I got a gal in Kalamazoo!
Saw them countless times, Selinas mainly.... And every other Sydney haunt... Golden era! F&cking awesome!

She stuck it in her life and we will never forget the powerful and passionate Chrissy and her Divinyls. Magic.
I have loved the Divinyls since I was a a kid. I am now passing it on to my 7yr old daughter who also thinks that Chrissy Amphlett is the greatest rock chick ever to grace the stage with her presence, no-one will come close. RIP

Love the way Chrissie always sang in an Aussie accent. No Holds Barred.
Tough lyrics with a dash of honest intensity, gritty, working class voice and killer guitars. Man, they were a great band.
Hell yes
wish chrissy sang like this more often, i love when she sounds agressive
Well, she left this astral plane 11 years ago, so that's gonna be difficult.
In all of music, there has never been another Christina Amphlett...
Tough song done OH so good Thank You Chrissy/Thank You Mark & THANK YOU!!!!!
I like that she didn't mute our great accent.
She was, without a doubt, the greatest frontwoman in rock band... ever.

Chrissy and Johnette Neapolitano...2 of the greatest frontwomen of rock . Have been a fan of Chrissy's since the 80's. Rock In Peace, chicky💜
Chrissy wrote in her autobio that she liked Concrete Blonde, and there is a little picture of her and Johnette at the gym in the book.

I'm gonna get things
I'm gonna get things right
'Cause in my memory
I've seen changes overnight
Hey, I been in my life
Nothing much happening, nothing much happening
In my life
Hey, it might change so I still remain
So I still stuck it in my life
I might think of something
When life becomes a fight
Or take relief in
What I think is right
Hey, I been in my life, etcetera
I was born and brought up wrong
And I don't know where I come from
Mum had me when she was nineteen

It was a fully fledged track, same as anything really of time from States or UK. wasn't the 30s bud.

Holy shit. I've heard this in 30 years.
I am so going to miss you, thank for everything, love you RIP.
