  • Learn how to repair a tear in perforated leather.
Repairing perforated leather is no differences to repairing smooth leather or grained leather.
You just have to take your time when carrying out the repairs.
make sure you have the tools required to hand, toothpicks and an old dart work wonders as you can see in the video.
If you are recolouring then you need to carry out a leather prep stage first of all to remove some of the colour.
The next stage is to cut a piece of poly cotton fabric, that around 1cm bigger than the tear so that this can be glued in place.
Take a pin place it in the middle of the fabric and then push this into the foam, then get a spatula and work the fabric in so its smooth to the touch.
Once this is carried out, get the water based glue in one side and then then dry slightly, then carefully remove the pin, then put glue on the other side and using clear Sellotape pull the two halves together to close up the gap.
Dry the tear for a few minutes, any excess glue can be removed, then once the tape is removed, clean the surface further.
If you are doing a colour repair after the tear has been fixed, then continue with the colouring and filler if required.

I wish you would list every little thing you use on any repair on all your video descriptions. Like what brand of blue, fabric etc.

We have said in the description what the fabric is, there isn’t a specific brand we have said that the fabric is and also put a link to a kit to purchase with everything in it to make things easy for you

If that repair to to the upright, ie you lean into it, then there's a chance the repair will last some time. But if it's on the base where you sit, then it will break down in no time.

All repairs last if they are carried out correctly

I have a big crack in my car seat.
That is a great and helpful video guide.
The only problem - I cannot find the fabric patches in stock anywhere.
    what would you suggest purchasing?
    Thanks!

What type of fabric do you recommend to do this?
Can I use something like denim?

Polly cotton is best as it doesn’t stretch
It’s the same material as standard bed sheets
