This has to be the most iconic theme of any video game to date. Such a catchy tune that immediately floods you with nostalgia, Caribbean vibes, long drink thirst, good mood and unconsciously forces you to sway to the Caribbean vibes with a grin in your face. This is a masterpiece of main theme music and Michael Land is nothing short of a musical genius.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Just installed it again for the first time after more than 10 years and it's still amazing. Even the graphics are still charming. Man what a masterpiece ..

Totally. LeChuck's Revenge is brilliant, but Secret of Monkey Island will forever the best one (in my mind at least). i just wish whoever owns the license now would actually do something with it. i could do with a good monkey island adventure!

Have you played Psychonauts Rhombus Of Ruin? I was playing that thinking "this is a bit like Monkey Island", I only found out about the Tim Schafer connection afterwards. It isn't obvious to a lot of people, but Monkey Island would be GREAT in VR.

I still get butterflies everytime I hear that openings over the cannon fires. It reminds me of the first time I've seen this game after years of playing and replaying again and again Monkey Island I, and II and feeling sad at that stupid ending of MI2. When I saw him in that opening scene (I was 18 just entering collage) again in that bumper car I felt happy but with anticipation and fear that it wouldn't be as good as it was and then I listened to those funny lines about the food, bananas and chicken and rum I thought "wow they kept the great writing" and then when the cannons fired and the same improved theme song came my whole body was on fire 🔥 like seeing your favorite childhood friend all grown and still having that spirit that made you best friends. I'm 40 now but I still feel young thanks to this game. I'm now replaying MI1.... but in Japanese this time 😂
The first two Monkey Island were made by Ron GIlbert, the 3th Monkey Island has nothing to do (storyline) with the first two, you realy have to know. 1 and 2 has nothing to do with the 3th one. In my opinion, the ending of the second one is to meta, anyways it would nice to see a story after that. BUT, the 3th continued is so nice, i even would say its better that Ron Gilbert didnt had fingers on it.

It's ironically the first one I knew about and played back then. I don't remember how we got it, but I really enjoyed the part of the game where you got to sail around the sea and do actual naval battles and insult swordfighting! xD
The best Monkey Island game of all time really doesn't need a remastered version. Minor tweaks here and there, but on the whole, this could be re-released as is. The more important question is, why hasn't this game been released on Steam at all yet? I mean, they HAVE to realize the opportunity here. The first two games got released as soon as they got remastered and the third installment is even better and more memorable. Well, then... what gives?.. do the good people at Valve know something that we don´t? Are they secretly waiting for Disney Interactive to finish a remastered version before crossing the T:s and dotting the I:s, or.... what is going on???? I try to google the answer to this question and lo and behold... for some odd reason, the internet is strangely quiet, with forums barely even mentioning Curse other than on a few requested games-pages. There's hardly even any fan outrage. This has me very puzzled.

It's the principle of the thing. Also, getting LeChuck's beard stuck on a pair of elevator doors was priceless.
