I love the commentators. The "by-the-book" middle-aged man and the crazy old dude. They compliment each other very well. they both have different ideas of how things should be played, and they still make it work. My only complaint is that you guys don't put videos up every day because I would watch them every day. I'm in a band. We play a lot of shows at bars, and so that's when I get to play. The only thing I can do is stop the cue and roll it forward. This helps me so much. Thank you.
Johnny Archer said that he played Earl one match, and just to rib him, Johnny donned all the weights, ear protection and glasses. Earl said "You're making fun of me, aren't you." Johnny said "No, what are you talking about?" He said he only wore the stuff for his first rack, but he said it was the best rack he played all day.
Earl overhitting that four and getting straight in on the five in game nine - looks like that cost him the match. One just cannot afford to get careless. Not a table that breaks easy, so not easy to play catch-up. Then: getting the bridge a waste of time? Ouch! Remember Busti at the World Championships? Not a great match from the perspective that Earl gets all negative and more or less gives up. Rodney gets the job done, despite his hardly commendable one-stroking of balls. Thanks for uploading!
Hey man, don't let anyone get you down about it. Good for you for learning another language, which is more than most of these people who criticize have probably done.
@BClub agreed completely. why hate on jim wych? his voice just reminds me of billiards now. hes articulate and adds good color commentary. best in my opinion.
The shot Earl did at 25:05 I've been trying to do that for ages, why can't I get that action? I've heard it's more about getting running english than just straight top, but I can't do it... I can get really good draw, but hardly and follow. (I just recently realized that I'm hitting the cue ball lower than I though, but even adjusting that I still can't get it.)
U have to hit very high inside an kind of snap ur wrist. It takes a lot of practice. Follow is not too hard. U jus have to aim really high. But the good thing is u can aim super high without miscuing !! Good luck
@MacManLtd You might want to follow through more if you cant get the follow that you need, that's usually a problem that alot of people have. Not being able to see your stroke or your shot i cant guarantee that that will work though, it could be many things that are effecting the shot.
@MacManLtd I have the same problem, I only get it dropping the elbow but I think thats not a good technique, if u find the way to make it happen let me know
About 22:00 the commentator says Earl sights with his opposite eye. Earl sights with his right eye and he's right handed so he does not sight with his opposite eye.
What happened to Earl Strickland totally disappeared in action, but when he plays with Efren Reyes a ball does not fail, it is incredible and with other players he is lost and full of mistakes.
In 9-ball he may have been Mosconi level. But Mosconi would have drilled Earl at Mosconi's game, straight pool. Earl's high gear was Mosconi all the time.
You're right. Earl does compete in straight pool and is nowhere on the same planet in that discipline as Mosconi. Never come close to the kind of high runs that Willie had. If the Earl jock sniffers don't agree with you, they can look it up. Facts and numbers don't lie.
I only watch Eark Strickland matches. Only because you say Efran is the best in the world ever| I think you never heard of Willie Mosconi? Earl is pretty close to Willie
Ajay Londono the men spent more time arguing than they did playing. Then you got some getting appearance agents, John Schmidt was one That led to more bitching. ESPN got pissed off and quit televising the men.
You want to increase interest in billiard sports. Do what poker did years ago, pit celebrities against each other. It will help build interest in the sport in the "non pool playing public". Golf did the same thing too with Bing Crosby at Pebble Beach. You need to go outside the box to attract the interest of the non-playing public. Otherwise you are only preaching to the choir. P.S. Team up celebs with the pros, i.e Pro Ams.
bigfoot11032 Yeah, you're probably right. The idea of mixing pros with celebrity amateurs needs a very rapid pace like,.....(thinking) golf. No wait...
packjim56 Yes and lots of us Americans tired of watching those Hollywood a holes. Al Sharpton is in the process of holding them up, maybe those spoiled liberals will wake up now. The only thing that will make pool popular is antics like Earl Strickland pulls. And faster play. I tried to watch some Johnny Archer I had to shut it off.
+bigfoot11032 I had to do the same and it sucks because I love Johnny as a person :( I thing mr PackJ is on to something but there is NO way an amateur could be TV ready in less than maybe 3-4 years. It's even harder to learn when you're older...If you've seen snooker, they gained popularity but giving each player a personality they needed to portray, one wore giant glasses, some were comical, some were super fast...that kind of thing
LOL. That's like saying real pool players have nothing to learn. All but a very few players can still learn a thing or two from guys who have played all their long lives, have played at top levels, and knows all the top players--current and past ones. If you don't want to hear what "old-timers" have to say, you don't love and honor the game. You're just a talker.
@BClub : Baloney. DiLiberto and Incardona are much better. They also don't try to inject drama and false-sounding elation/excitement like Wych does. He's annoying with that. People who are dedicated enough to pool to watch these things aren't interested in false drama and whoops; they're interested in really experienced and insightful comment/explanation. Wych understands the game, but it has MEANT so much more to the other two, that their commentary has HEART--and resonates with other players.
I don't know what's more fun (and satisfying, in a perverted way): watching Earl shoot like GOD, or seeing him LOSE HIS MIND and throw shots down the toilet because he's in a bad mood.... I wonder if psychiatric medication would also soften his skills...?
tho par he is on meds he is manic depressive Meds can affect your judgment I think he stops taking them before a tournament and goes bananas if he's off them too long
Get outta here, he said he walked 11 miles in a pool session, but who plays 8 hours of pool regularly? Unless you are in tournaments, but I don't know I don't play those.
maybe im not expressing myself properly? Earl and Willie are great ............... here is what someone titled 1 video >>> Efren Reyes, the world's greatest pool player ever .
Fats???? do a little research if you are capable. Also, you are dead wrong. Efren is superior. as a "pocket billiards" player. He plays all the games at championship level. Earl is just a tad better than he is at 9 Ball and only because of his weak break shot.
why do the commentators kiss earl's ass.... earl is a great player with a shit attitude. he is capable of coming back and just gives up and acts like a child in the process.
Earl Strickland, one of the greates pool players ever!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the commentators. The "by-the-book" middle-aged man and the crazy old dude. They compliment each other very well. they both have different ideas of how things should be played, and they still make it work.

My nephew wears the same equipement as Earl. The only difference is that my nephew is a soccer goalie. Gotta love that Earl... LOL
Thanks for the great videos, BCn.
These guys don't have to think forever. Fun to watch.

What year did this happen?

Earl Strickland..., the best pool player ever...!
I wish the commentators would be quiet when Earl talks,he is better then the commentary!
@MacManLtd I have the same problem, I only get it dropping the elbow but I think thats not a good technique, if u find the way to make it happen let me know
this was the last one 08'. That table is rollin' sloooow.
At 33:08, what did Danny mean by "wrong rail"?
OMG Earl .. que pasa ? Great match by Rodney. Thanks for posting BCn. 5*
amazing shot trought the 3ball in 35:20
Is possible to upload better quality?

About 22:00 the commentator says Earl sights with his opposite eye. Earl sights with his right eye and he's right handed so he does not sight with his opposite eye.
Why can't warch the video....???
Is Strickland using a Meucci in this match? or still a cuetec at this point.
Why are they putting their cues up into to light?
Jughead885 there is a wire they use to to keep track of how many games they have won. They slide balls from the center to one side or the other
And a pretty good match player myself as well although my particular specialty is bank pool.
aw i love that guy!
shot making-wise i would take either o'sullivan or strickland "16:32"
love this table
lol i love ur uploads but i would really enjoy u uploading some womens pool also.
@heath884 u can always off ur volume
Play starts at 6:10 fyi
43:37 the moment Morris nearly staggers into a time-warp bruh!
Man - Strickland looked like he was gearing up to play football instead of 9-ball
Although Earl has a horrible attitude, I still love watching him play because I never know what to expect
earl the best
pretty good picture for 240p
Lag at 6:20....first break at 7:12
is that earl strickland using a break cue? i swear he hates those things with a passion.
Decent match, Started out great but Strickland kinda lost it, I wanted him to win :(
@BClub do you even have a match uploaded where Strickland wins :p
isnt ronnie o sullivan also called the rocket?
yea but more known as mr bean
Nice
Well, you're obviously a legend in your own mind...
I love Danny DiLiberto.
What happened to Earl Strickland totally disappeared in action, but when he plays with Efren Reyes a ball does not fail, it is incredible and with other players he is lost and full of mistakes.
morris has brutal break technique
Damn these fingers I meant to type Earl not Eark
Love that 240p!
Well Earl... Thanks for racking those balls XD. Great performance by Rodney
little known fact... they're actually thanking Jesus that they won the game.
sorry but I dont have espn
Whoa i never knew Rodney Morris was from Houston 😮
You talks good grammar.
The only person that can beat Earl Strickland is Earl Strickland.
In 9-ball he may have been Mosconi level. But Mosconi would have drilled Earl at Mosconi's game, straight pool.
Earl's high gear was Mosconi all the time.
uvafan420 haha mosconi wasnt even close to earl . them guys in thr 60s m 70s was B MAYBE A minus players .
You're right. Earl does compete in straight pool and is nowhere on the same planet in that discipline as Mosconi. Never come close to the kind of high runs that Willie had. If the Earl jock sniffers don't agree with you, they can look it up. Facts and numbers don't lie.
42:40 is one of the worst moments in Strickland's life
lmaoo
I those shallow angle force follow shots can be cruel sometimes.
What did Strickland put on his left ankle? lol
9:15 why didn't he play a carom?
Carrom was not on
👍
Right, I can watch them play pool without ANY announcer telling me what they just did, how about that?
I know :(
Great match until Earl Fell Apart. keep'em comin BCN!! and NOOOO Women's pool, we get enough of that on ESPN
I only watch Eark Strickland matches. Only because you say Efran is the best in the world ever| I think you never heard of Willie Mosconi? Earl is pretty close to Willie
Earl is gonna be the best underwater basketweaver ever!!
i didnt mean it in a offensive way, its just that the only Billiard that gets aired here in America on Sport channels is Female
Ajay Londono the men spent more time arguing than they did playing. Then you got some getting appearance agents, John Schmidt was one
That led to more bitching.
ESPN got pissed off and quit televising the men.
espn is dog shit, people watch woman for their ass
What are you talking about.. EARL STRICKLAND is the best player ever lived.
@Vladegay because it was cold, not because he loves sports lol
19:11 STOP abusing the table EARL 🤓

lol strickland like goal kicker:D..It don't need that things 2 play pool!!
@Jughead885 lol.
@GetMeThere1 you hit the nail on the head
My kinda match two fast players Mcready is another one I love to watch Archer I’d one of the most boring players to watch lol
Any snooker player would wipe the floor with these guys.
There are plenty of videos of Ronnie O'Sullivan and Steve Davis losing at 9 ball. Go check them out

Actually, I am fluent in english, french, spanish and punjabi.
nobody gives a fuck
Haha. Half of the shots of Strickland in the practice session was him putting on a ton of gear.
I absolutely love how the old man has no clue of anything. He gets 9/10 predictions wrong.
"i put a tachometer on my foot and in an 8 hour pool match i walked 11 miles"
is this guy high?
high as god.
@Vladegay its a baseball glove, cuz he loves sports

Morris's cue ball control was really sub par in this game.
I don't think I have ever seen Strickland win.
