      Here's a little treasure for you...Buy a pair of Hi-top Lace-up Tennis Shoes. Buy a small jar of Rubber Contact Cement. (Has a dauber in the cap). Find some long shag carpet. There's still folks taking it out of their houses. Turn the carpet up-side-down and lay your soles of your tennis shoes on there and trace around the outboard of the sole onto the underside of the carpet. Cut that out with a box cutter. Match Shoe to rug piece. Seperate them so there isnt a way to get them mixed up. Apply plenty of glue to the underside of the carpet and to the soles of your tennis shoes and let them get almost dry and line them up good before you stick them...There ain't a chance in heck of repositioning them if wrong. Put the carpet side as your new sole. The shag carpet will hold onto slick river rocks and keep you from busting your a**. TAPE (electrical tape) your long pants cuff to your long socks. This keeps any leaches or varmits from going up your britches legs as you wade fish.
      My Dad was a professional Angler with a TV and Radio show on Fishing & Hunting, and learned many such tricks from others in the Press circles. The only care these fishing shoes need, are to wash the green goo off them with the hose when you get home.
      THANKS A WHOLE BUNCH for an excellent video!
      (if you want a simple recipe that represents the "wild" taste...cover your crawdaddies with water. bring to a rolling boil for a couple of minutes and let cool some while you melt Land-O-Lakes Butter with Caola oil. Bust the shells off and dip in the butter. There's already salt in the butter.
      THANKS AGAIN.

    It’s great to see a different type of video that’s actually beneficial to life and that our kids can see that there’s more to life than electronics or hiding inside

    • @attentiondeficitoutdoors9134
      @attentiondeficitoutdoors9134  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed Simon, meeting them where they are can help bridge the gap. If you are starting later with your kids a great opening is campgrounds with wifi and cell service so they can get outdoors and still get a dose of tik tok vids. From there you can ease into more remote locations.

    Again, the views are stunning. I can easily see how steep a drop it was on your walk, reminds me why in the girl scouts we always used the buddy system. I recall a motorcycle venture I took alone, sans maps (pre-gps era) and ended up on a fire road. O.o I am amazed that old car made it as far as it did! I turned around even though I was sure it was a short cut but it's never short when you get stuck or lay your bike down in a ditch.
    I didn't fish often from shore or a dock, almost always went out in a boat. I tried to become 'old salt savy' and learn the best spots and times but catching fish was secondary on warm summer days ... is this lake one boats can go out on? The laws have changed so much I'm not sure if some places restrict boats or if the shear inaccessible approach for anything but foot traffic, like in this video, is why boats aren't in sight.

    • @attentiondeficitoutdoors9134
      @attentiondeficitoutdoors9134  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Suzi, maps are key. GPS can give folks a false sense of security and you are right. What seems like a shortcut on a fire road almost never turns out to be. That lake can have kayaks or float tubes. Not sure anyone could close with a boat bigger than that.

    • @general5104
      @general5104 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think, by what he said on his video, the lake is up in the clouds with a sheer bluff to it and could only be reached by trail. Unless you Back-packed a blow-up boat in there, fishing from the bank or Red-Eye/Trout wade-fishing is all ya got.

    We had a ‘99 Camry that we took into some places we weren’t sure we’d get out of. 😄 Just go super slow and aim your tires for the high spots in the road. Avoid soft ground and fine sand, and you might be good. But then we’d been off-roading for a long time and know how to read these roads. Not sure what forest roads would be like; it’s always better to have four wheel drive and high clearance! And never go alone!

    Be sure to tighten or replace the clip that comes on those traps, I've lost many due to snags and it all comes apart. I prefer to tie them up with a 2 end sling for load cuz I add weight to them

      Hi Jerry, I tested some cured shrimp and they were about useless. In the other trap I put the first brook trout I caught and the crawfish were all over it. So, next one I caught went in the other trap. Had I figured that out sooner I would have probably had double the crawfish. Lesson learned.

    One of my most favorite locations, for just relaxation anytime I can get there. Did you happen to run into the Big hairy guy, with the bad odor while there? Had an experience during hunting season one time, Noone else on the ridge or at the lake, that I could tell, yet had the feeling of being watched the entire time while on the shore, and the air smelled like a city refuse facility. Still go back every chance I get. Would love to have a cabin there.
