Sadly in animation.... that happens ALLLLL the time.
I saw wayyy too many projects that never saw the light of day.
When I was working on a project.... at some point I would wait for the project to be on TV or in the Theaters before telling people that I worked on it because tooo often those projects would never be finished or would be delayed and delayed.
Pretty annoying when you tell people you work on a movie that will be in theatre in lest say September.... and then months and months would go by with no movie being released...... and then people would think that you're crazy or you made it up. :(

Always felt 'The Goon' would make for a better triple-A story-driven action-adventure co-op video game than a movie. Think a two-player, 3rd person brawler, w/Blur Studios providing quality animated cinematics to tell the story.
With today's 3D graphic engines, you could have cg-quality graphics that transition into gameplay. You could still tell a compelling story in a video game - just look at stuff like Uncharted & Last of Us, just to name two. I just feel like Miller is pushing The Goon too hard into the wrong medium. Once The Goon game is a proven success, you'll have movie studios fighting to make a CGi movie.

The connection of the creators to "love, death and robots" may come in handy. If they are really dedicated to the project, they should ask one of the animation studios to make a story on the goon, or at least the goon universe. Maybe this will get some positive reactions from reviewers and fans to encourage Netflix to invest in it (they had so many attempts at original series and movies, this will totally be up their alley). Let us just hope that because it was first brought to fox, Disney won't suddenly wake up and try to claim IP on it or something

While I was watching those interviews I kept thinking "10 years too early". Hopefully this project can get more interest in today's streaming service market. This passion project sounds ripe for a 12 ep. adult animation series on Netflix, Amazon, or Apple. I hope it gets its time. I wasn't aware how desperately long the animation industry has been itching to make more mature content for mature audiences. Ugh. Shame.

I was a drop-in-the-bucket backer of the Kickstarter for The Goon, and was aware of most of the information this video gives, already...but I'm happy to have learned a few new tidbits.
This was very well put-together, and hopefully has helped inform people who were not aware of any of it, before.
I do have to say, I'm a little confused as to why there isn't more solid good news on this, already.
Netflix has quite literally become a meme/trope, for throwing money at pretty much anything.
Beyond just "Love, Death & Robots", they have a number of other successful animated series under their belts, including very adult-oriented stuff like "Castlevania".
They seem to have been doing pretty well with animated features, too.
I think I'm in the camp, at this point, that I'd rather see a Goon series than just a single film...but either way, it feels like the iron is pretty hot, and I hope someone is buzzing in the appropriate ears.
Amazon also seems to be willing to part with cash for geekdom-friendly properties...a great example being "The Boys", which is highly subversive and VERY adult, while still comic-based.
Hell, even Disney...while they certainly have more than their fair share of flaws and drama...also owns Hulu, which is featuring some solid work in a similar vein.
    Point being...the time is now.
So I hope every single fan of this property is blowing up whoever they can on Twitter and wherever else to get this thing made a reality.

Not only he can prove himself as a director (Thanks to the Sonic Movie), he really does care for the fans as well when it comes to projects based on already established franchises. You can tell this man really loves doing the things he does.
I swear maybe with the success of the Sonic movie, maybe Jeff and Tim could be given a second chance to make this film and honestly we need more adult animated films that aren't comedies.

Judge Dredd or 2000AD comics are my best comics ever, mainly because of the fond memories I have collecting them when I was young. However recently I picked up Invincible and I had a blast with it. It's fun, violent and very funny at times but The Goon I've never read. Looks like a comic that would be right up my ally so I'll be purchasing for sure. I hope you can get them in graphic novel form. Dont want to buy all the individual comics

Been a Goon fan since 07 - a massive Hollywood franchise is WAY overdue.

Ugh, this makes me so sad. I mean there's still hope of course, but I can't believe that it's been almost 10 years since I donated to the Goon kick starter and adult animation has still yet to fully catch on in America. Japan has been doing it for decades, why can't we? To hear they were also working on a Heavy Metal movie was another stab in the heart... Great summary vid.

I wish Netflix signs that check, I think I would like this movie a lot. I've also been waiting for a Groo movie forever, and would love to see it happening with the participation of Aragonés.

Wow it’s a tragedy this film hasn’t been made. I can’t believe they’re having so much trouble. Hollywood sucks. Get the feature out and follow it up with a series. This thing should and will be making bank.

Another fantastic job well done 👏 ✔️ Can you do a video on all of the canceled Predator films, unproduced Minecraft film, and all of Vincenzo Natali's Unproduced films like Neuromancer?

Was looking forward to this but I think they were a little ahead of their time. With the success of Love, Death & Robots and Vox Machina, The Goon would've fit right in.
