    I don't know if you read these comments still, but I always come back to your videos, especially your longer form content, for comfort and enjoyment. If I ever feel down, I love to sit down and watch you eat or show off your culture and it just makes me so happy. Your vlogs are so genuine and real, even with the frustrations you face you never cut around it or force a smile, you let yourself be upset to a degree and I really find that refreshing from all the vloggers who force a jovial attitude no matter what. Like many people have said, it feels like going around with a good friend, enjoying all the sights and complaining about the normal things like the pollution and crowdedness. It's lovely and I hope you never ever change, Uyen!
    P.S. I'm not sure if anyone else said this, but I believe "Ngan", the bird you were eating at the beginning, is called the Muscovy Duck in English! They're quite big and are invasive in some areas here in the U.S., specifically Texas.

    It is great to know that many others enjoy eating cat fish. I live in the deep south of Georgia, USA. We have many breeds of cat fish in our waters. Growing up, we often would dig for worms after school, then go down to the creek to catch cat fish for supper that evening. Many people do not know that cat fish will grow as large as the body of water they live in. Cat fish grow over 9 feet long and are carnivores. I wouldn't eat a 9 foot long cat fish, as it is very old and will taste muddy since it has live such a long life. A cat fish that size, one should return it to the river to keep living since there is no purpose in eating it. Cat fish are very over looked as a tasty and healthy meat.

    I was in the caramel and coconut place in my Vietnam trip in September, everything was so delicious!!! ❤ The ice cream in coconut was hands down one of my favorite deserts from the trip ❤
    Also went to the snails place through that dark alley, a-m-a-z-i-n-g

    Fun fact: the sister didn't get lost. She bought some more food so that she doesn't starve at all. It is very common in Vietnam. Thus, German boyfried is lucky to be still alive while not liking warm meals in the morning, for lunch and for dinner - and of course in between. ;)

    I think an important part of featuring food in a video is like.... Just showing people what's available, and encouraging them to expand their horizons. So even if you're not filming the food a lot, you're telling people about it, and showing what you love about your culture. It would encourage me to order or try something I might not usually, since now I know how to eat it!

    I love cultures that enjoy every part of the animals they eat, I think that's the most respectful thing to do and find it particularly disrespectful to life itself when certain cultures only use specific parts of the animal and discard most of it. Thank you for sharing!

      In the US, it's just chicken breast all day...and look at the health crisis here. It's known that the organs are the most nutritious.

    • @met.marfil
      @met.marfil 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@datgal2u yeah I have latinoamerican family in the US, and nowadays I feel like they've been brainwashed into such a weird level of consumerism, they only eat ground beef, chicken breast or nuggets and drink water from multiple tiny bottles all day instead of buying a filter or getting the big 4 gallon reusable bottles we use here, they think it's something from "less developed countries" and I'm like? Do you understand what you're saying?!

    • @datgal2u
      @datgal2u 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@met.marfil I’ve watched a lot of health-related videos recently and the more I learn, the more I believe in having a diverse microbiome is a sign of great health. We live in a culture where antibiotics are given to us for every little illness (which kills all the gut flora, including the good ones) and medicine is unnecessarily prescribed at a high level. Then there’s the food supply that is poisoned with pesticides (crops) or antibiotics in our meat (they give them to animals to make them grow bigger while eating less). Add the fast food, convenience foods, etc. and it’s a disaster. Then toss in the fact that foods are so restricted to things like only boneless, skinless chicken breasts….nothing else from the chicken, and that’s just a disaster for your gut microbiome. No wonder Americans are all fat and unhealthy now.

    I think that you shouldn't feel so bad about not finding the english name for vietnamese food. It's like how spaghetti is not "Italian long, thin, solid, cylindrical wheat flour mixed with water or eggs" and Creme Brulee is not "French burnt cream" and pho is not "Vietnamese soup dish consisting of broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat". So, please feel free to call Banh Cuon "Banh Cuon", not "Vietnamese steamed rice roll".

    its intersting to hear how much Uyen's accent returns to its vietnamese roots when she is with her family and surrounded by her native language. When she films in Germany i dont hear as much of the vietnamese tonation.
    For those wondering how accents work, its related to how you move your mouth when pronouncing the letters, so if you have a super heavy accent, try to overpronounciate the letters. Basically untrain your mouth from your native way of speaking. its rather bizarre how much it works.
    And before people get their panties in a twist, this is not an attack on Uyen, this is just a "how cool accents are" comment.
    Keep making content, you're a gem!

    In Mexico I eat a lot of street food. I try and pick the busiest, cleanest place. I looooove Tamarind!! I like tamarind soda drink and tamarind candy. Its also VERY popular in Mexico.
